Mo Yu’s face was utterly expressionless. “Do you have a girlfriend?”

Qing Xuan was silent for a long moment, his eyes wide in a kind of panic. Do you count?

Mo Yu advanced, her eyes locked onto his, her left hand braced against the wall beside his waist, her right hand trapping him on his other side. Qing Xuan’s hands pressed flat against the wall behind him, a flush spreading across his cheeks, even his pale forehead beginning to bead with sweat.

“N-no... I don’t...”

“Oh,” Mo Yu replied, withdrawing her hands. She patted his shoulder and turned to leave.

“Wait—” Qing Xuan was left bewildered by her abrupt retreat. Why was she leaving? “And then?” He grabbed her hand and, with a tug, pulled her directly into his arms. In a single motion, their positions reversed completely—his large hand caught both of her slender wrists, pinning them above her head, while his other arm wrapped tightly around her waist, pressing her flush against him. “And then? Is that it? Don’t you have anything else to say?” There was a deep despondency in Qing Xuan’s voice as he buried his face in the curve of her neck, inhaled fiercely, and then began to graze her skin with his teeth. “You... are... a heartless... scoundrel... you... bad... egg...”

The moment he caught her, Mo Yu’s heart began pounding so wildly she could hardly stand it. It was true she had sought him out first, but after all, she was still a young woman—just working up the courage to come find him had taken her a whole night. As she turned to leave, the faintest blush had risen to her cheeks. Now, being held like this, her heart was a chaos of fluttering deer. She couldn’t hear a word he was whispering at her ear; all she could sense was the heat of his breath against her neck, burning hotly, igniting her very soul.

“Let... let go...” Mo Yu twisted her arms, uncomfortable, trying to break free from his grip.

“No!” Qing Xuan only pulled her closer, pinning her tightly to his chest. The sudden warmth made him shudder, yet he clung to her, rubbing her waist against his own, every so often pressing her harder against him. “Since... you’ve come... ah—come to me... ahh—then... you... have to... take responsibility, mn...” By now, sweat poured down his forehead, drops falling onto Mo Yu’s face, sending a strange heat surging through her as well. With effort, she managed to wrench one hand free and clapped it tightly over Qing Xuan’s mouth—only for him to dart out his tongue and lick her palm.

“Little demon!” Mo Yu hadn’t expected this seemingly gentle, refined man to be so impatient, and for a moment she doubted her own judgment.

“Wait!” She shoved Qing Xuan away, straightened her clothes, and fixed him with a solemn gaze. “Are you still a virgin?”

Qing Xuan froze. Without waiting for a response, Mo Yu turned and began to leave.

“Hey! Don’t go!” Qing Xuan, still bewildered, instinctively caught her hand. “What’s a virgin?” He paused, then seemed to think of something. “I’m not a virgin, I’m Qing Xuan!” Seeing Mo Yu pause and turn, he declared even more loudly, “I don’t care who’s a virgin! I’m not a virgin! I’m Qing Xuan! And you’re not allowed to look for any virgins! You can only look for me!” His voice rang out, thick with agitation and grievance, and something in his wounded tone struck Mo Yu as familiar.

She turned back, wordless, and knelt beside the now kneeling Qing Xuan. With her free left hand, she gently lifted his chin with her forefinger. At this moment, Qing Xuan’s heart was a storm of hurt and frustration. He just knew it—whenever he took his eyes off her, she was up to something! First it was a virgin, next time, who knew what else? Scoundrel! Heartless woman! The tears came without warning, spilling down his cheeks.

Little did he realize how much this scene resembled a queen and her pet.

Mo Yu was now genuinely sweating. She had always found men’s tears troublesome; why must men cry? Yet... perhaps this was her fault?

“First of all,” Mo Yu bent down and softly kissed away his tears, then straightened and looked deeply into his eyes. “Do you know what a virgin is?”

Qing Xuan nodded reluctantly.

“And what does it mean?” Mo Yu asked, gazing down at his stubborn face.

“A man whose surname is Virgin!” he spat out, filled with resentment, as if he wished he could tear the very word apart.

Mo Yu looked away from those watery eyes, but her lips curved up in a suppressed smile, her eyes sparkling with irrepressible glee. No matter how she tried, she couldn’t hide it. Qing Xuan’s gaze followed her every move, and when he caught the glimmer of laughter in her eyes, fury flared up in his chest.

“You...!” Heartless woman!

But before he could speak, a strange female voice interrupted from nearby. “Ah Yu, finished catching up with your sweetheart? Time to head back.” With that, the woman shot Qing Xuan a fierce glare.

“Mm, let’s go.” Mo Yu freed her right hand from his grasp, withdrawing the left finger from beneath his chin, then gently pressed a kiss to his lips before turning smartly to leave with the stranger.

“Mo Yu!” Come back...

But she was already gone, leaving him alone in the shadowy corner, his hand pressed to the lingering warmth on the wall. That warmth belonged to Mo Yu.

“First there was that man surnamed Nan, then a child, now a virgin, and now another woman!” Mo Yu, you’re just too unruly!

Qing Xuan revealed a smile Mo Yu had never seen before, his eyes flickering with anger and shadow, a dark aura radiating from him.

“Mo Yu, even if you’re heartless, you’ll still only ever belong to me.”

...

Mo Yu glanced at the woman beside her, who was shivering and sneezing, and frowned. “Zuo Nan, are you alright?”

“Achoo!” Ye Zuo Nan wiped her nose with a tissue and waved her hand dismissively. “I’m fine, probably just caught a cold.”

Mo Yu frowned. “Want some medicine?”

Ye Zuo Nan turned to look at her—this was the first time she’d ever shown concern. “No, really, I’m fine~”

“Okay, but don’t get me or Li Jun sick.”

Zuo Nan pouted. I knew it! Mo Yu, you’re such a jerk!

“Where’s Li Jun?” Mo Yu asked, having entered the tent and not seen the boy’s shadow. She poked her head outside, but there was no sign of him. That was odd—normally Li Jun would never willingly leave the tent.

“He’s probably gone next door to play,” Zuo Nan replied carelessly.

“Hm? Aren’t there just an old couple next door? What’s he doing there?” Mo Yu asked, watching Zuo Nan play her video game.

“You don’t know?!” Zuo Nan dropped her game, staring at Mo Yu in shock.

“How would I know?” Mo Yu’s confusion deepened.

“Never mind—you wouldn’t care anyway.” Zuo Nan, finding it uninteresting, explained directly, “That old couple left! Their son came to pick them up, and even left lots of food for the base!”

“Get to the point.”

“And then two men moved in! But I’ve only seen one of them. And for some reason, Li Jun was all too willing to go off with them!... Hey! Where are you going?! Don’t forget we’re having dinner at my brother’s later! Come back soon!”

Zuo Nan craned her neck but didn’t hear Mo Yu answer—she wasn’t sure if she’d been heard.

Mo Yu walked to the entrance of the neighboring tent, about to knock, when she heard Li Jun’s voice inside, talking to someone. She paused, holding her breath, lurking quietly in the shadows to eavesdrop.

Li Jun: “Are you... here to see Sister Mo...?”

Strange man: “You... just stay... away...”

Li Jun: “You’re the one... who left... You abandoned us first!”

Strange man: “You... anyway...”

The voices inside dropped, and only Li Jun, unable to hide his anger, occasionally raised his voice. Mo Yu couldn’t make out the details, but it seemed their conversation had something to do with her.

“Miss... do you need something?” Baiji nearly slipped and called her “queen” instead...

“No.” Mo Yu stood up with perfect composure, not the least bit flustered at being caught, her natural aura slowly expanding.

Baiji: As expected of our queen—so cool!

While Baiji gazed at her in adoration, Mo Yu was quietly observing the man before her. The more she looked, the more she thought—this was a... very unusual man. Yes, very unusual indeed. Good lord, why was a man wearing a skirt? And with all that leg hair on display! Absolutely indecent!

Mo Yu couldn’t bear to look any longer. “I’m here to fetch Li Jun.”

“Alright, wait here, I’ll go get him!” Baiji didn’t invite her in, and Mo Yu could sense his helplessness and confusion, so she waited outside. Soon, Li Jun emerged from the tent with a bright smile.

“Sister Mo, let’s go back,” he said cheerfully.
