Chapter 125: Ambush Midway, the Unreliable Black Emperor

The newcomers were all clad in black, their faces concealed behind eerie masks, their eyes brimming with boundless greed and murderous intent.
Ye Fan sneered coldly, “Looks like old acquaintances! Afraid I’ll recognize you?”
He naturally guessed that these men must be from powerful factions. They concealed their identities, fearing that if King Jiang learned who they were after ambushing him, they would bring misfortune upon themselves.
The leader of the black-clad men deliberately altered his voice, making it sound unnatural as he said, “Ye Fan! Today you won’t escape, even with wings! Hand over the Xuanhuang Maternal Qi Cauldron, and we may spare your lives!”
“Heh heh! Seems they came prepared. Looks like no mercy today.” The Black Emperor stopped carving the array markings, casting a disdainful glance at the black-clad men before saying to Ye Fan, “Kid, get ready to fight for your life!”
Ye Fan nodded solemnly. Though he had trump cards, he didn’t know if any of these powerful enemies had brought imperial weapons. If so, escaping this calamity would be truly difficult.
Duan De chuckled, “In that case, everyone rely on your own skills!” He subtly tossed a meaningful glance at Ye Fan while the black-clad men were distracted.
Seeing Duan De’s sly look, Ye Fan was certain this mysterious fellow had other tricks up his sleeve. With that assurance, he dared to fight recklessly.
The leader of the black-clad men sneered darkly, waving his hand behind him, “Kill them all! Leave no one alive.” Then he drew a long sword and lunged at Ye Fan.
Seeing their leader charge forward, the other black-clad men stopped hesitating and attacked with various skills. The Black Emperor grinned broadly and transformed into a shadow, weaving through the black-clad men, swiping at them with his claws, throwing their formations into chaos.
In this way, the Black Emperor, relying on his strange agility and speed, single-handedly held them all back.
Meanwhile, Ye Fan was already locked in battle with the leader, unleashing the offensive technique from the Nine Secrets and the Fighting Saint Art, managing to press the black-clad leader onto the defensive.
Seeing the black-clad leader prefer to stay on the defensive rather than use any technique that might reveal his identity, instead fighting with ordinary means, Ye Fan sneered inwardly. If this went on, even if the opponent was a realm higher, Ye Fan was confident he could kill him.
At this moment, those temporarily held back by the Black Emperor began breaking free and rushed toward Ye Fan, aiming to join forces with their leader to kill him.
Just then, Duan De, who had not yet joined the fight, shouted loudly, “Ye Fan! Black Emperor! Hurry!”
Before the black-clad men could react, Ye Fan moved his mind, activating the secret ‘Ji’ character technique learned from Zhuo Peak. His combat power instantly multiplied tenfold. Coupled with the ‘Dou’ character formula and stepping the Tianxuan footwork, he charged at the black-clad leader.
“Boom!” With a thunderous blow, the leader was caught completely off guard and struck in the chest by Ye Fan’s full-strength punch. Blood sprayed wildly, and though his body flew through the air, he lost consciousness immediately.

Before the others could react, Ye Fan struck again, smashing half the body of a supporter rushing to aid the leader with a single punch.
Without looking back, he fully unleashed the Tianxuan footwork and dashed wildly toward where Duan De stood.
The Black Emperor, who was blocking the others, howled like a wolf, “My pets! Old Black won’t play with you anymore!” Then he transformed into a shadow and sprinted toward Duan De.
“Stop them! Don’t let them escape!” someone shouted, sensing something was wrong.
Unfortunately, it was already too late. The sly, chubby Taoist chuckled, producing a golden talisman which transformed into a golden light. As the light appeared, Ye Fan and the others had already vanished without a trace!
The black-clad men halted, exchanging confused looks, unsure of what to do. Eventually, with no choice left, they took their two severely wounded comrades and disappeared from the scene.
Thousands of miles away, in a remote wilderness, a golden light flashed and three figures appeared. As the light faded, the three revealed themselves: Ye Fan and his two companions.
No sooner had they steadied themselves than the Black Emperor pounced on Duan De, baring his teeth and growling, “You damn Taoist! How come you didn’t show me this treasure earlier? Got any more? Give Old Black two, or I’ll bite you to death!”
Duan De dodged and snapped back angrily, “You damn dog! If I hadn’t saved you, you’d be dog meat hotpot by now! Dare to steal my treasure? Watch out or I won’t take you to find that person!”
The Black Emperor, mouth wide open ready to bite Duan De’s arm, froze at these words.
Blinking his dog-like eyes, he quickly closed his jaws, then with a sycophantic grin said, “Master Taoist, calm down. Old Black was just joking with you, don’t take it seriously!”
He wagged his tail and scampered behind Duan De, giving him a back massage with his front paws, chuckling, “How is it, Master Taoist? Too hard or too soft?”
Watching the shameless display, Ye Fan rolled his eyes and ignored him. Turning to Duan De, he said, “Hey, Taoist, since you have such a treasure, why didn’t you bring it out sooner?”
Duan De grinned awkwardly, “Master Taoist carelessly misplaced it. Just found it now.”
His face fell as he said painfully, “This was dug up from a Great Saint’s tomb after much hardship. Only one copy in existence!” Tears nearly welled up.
Ye Fan was speechless. This guy always made tomb raiding sound so justified—truly unmatched.
After carefully surveying the surroundings to ensure no ambush awaited, Ye Fan urged the Black Emperor, “Hurry and carve the array markings. Do you still want to find that person or not?”
Without a word, the Black Emperor got to work. After all, Ye Fan and the others had accompanied him, and especially Duan De risked his life.

Before long, a teleportation array was fully carved. The three stepped onto it and instantly vanished.
Three years later, at the ancient city gate of Yandu in the Yan Kingdom of the Eastern Wilderness, three battered figures appeared: Ye Fan and his two companions.
Looking up at the two large ancient characters “Yandu” engraved in archaic script on the gate, the three exhaled deeply. They had finally arrived.
Duan De cursed indignantly, “If it weren’t for this unreliable damn dog claiming he could carve the array, we could’ve just spent some Source Stones and used one of the powerful factions’ teleportation arrays. We wouldn’t have ended up so battered!”
Ye Fan was equally speechless. Who would’ve thought this damn dog was so unreliable, nearly sending them to the Western Desert with his array!
That place is almost the exact opposite of the Eastern Wilderness. Even if they were sent to the Southern Ridge or the Northern Domain, it would’ve been better, right?
Because at the edge of the Western Desert, not a soul could be seen.
They had actually walked nearly three years before finding a faction with a teleportation array, and only after spending Source Stones did they arrive here. It was truly tear-inducing.
Ye Fan silently resolved never to use arrays carved by the Black Emperor unless at the brink of life and death. It was like gambling with their lives. Accidentally teleporting into a forbidden zone would be disastrous.
The Black Emperor now hung his head low, not daring to retort. After all, he was at fault this time and deserved the scolding.
Ye Fan, too tired to argue further, gestured, “Let’s enter the city and find my old classmate.”
With that, he strode into the ancient city, with the Black Emperor and Duan De hurrying after him.
Duan De looked at Ye Fan disdainfully and said, “You even dare to lead the way? Do you even know where you’re going?”
Ye Fan’s steps faltered, embarrassed, as he glanced at Duan De. With a lofty air, Duan De led them straight toward the Chen Mansion.
