Upon hearing Chen Xing’s words, Chen Mi was momentarily stunned and asked curiously, “Brother, when you first arrived in this world, it seems countless epochs had already passed since then, right? This world’s Heavenly Dao is missing, reincarnation has ceased—how could any of your friends still be alive now?”

Chen Xing smiled and explained, “Strictly speaking, he should be considered a friend of my young disciple. He should be aware of my existence, though he has never seen me, and likewise, I have never seen him.”

Chen Mi suddenly understood. She knew Chen Xing had a disciple, but had never met him. Yet, thinking it over, she asked with some puzzlement, “But brother, you haven’t said how he managed to survive until now!”

“Reincarnation’s mark, entombed in burial soil,” Chen Xing said nonchalantly.

Chen Mi suddenly realized why this person could still be alive today.

Shaking her head, she pursed her lips and said, “Forcibly binding nine marks of reincarnation and burying oneself in burial soil—unless this person has some extraordinary fortune, it would be difficult to regain memories of his past life. That’s no different from death!”

Chen Xing gave a wry smile. “If the trajectory remains unchanged, this guy really could recover his past life memories.”

“Luck that extraordinary?” Chen Mi was speechless, unable to believe someone could be so fortunate.

Chen Xing nodded with a wry smile. Even though the fellow, after regaining his memories and power, hadn’t taken them seriously, Chen Xing could not help but admire such luck!

“Well then, I must see this for myself,” Chen Mi said with keen interest.

“Then let’s go! The main event is about to begin!” Chen Xing smiled, and as his voice faded, the two vanished from sight.

Deep within the ruins, the tomb of the Demon Emperor had manifested, and several great realms were locked in fierce battle over the legendary treasure within the tomb.

At this moment, Ye Fan's heart was full of turmoil. With Pang Bo’s help, he had obtained a Dao scripture scroll engraved on a golden sheet of paper.

He naturally understood the preciousness of this scripture. Even the Lingxu realm only possessed fragments of such scriptures, and these were treasured manuals meant for the cultivation of great immortal seedlings!

Unexpectedly, the golden sheet slipped into the tiny bitter sea inside Ye Fan’s body, no larger than a bean. No matter what he tried, he could not retrieve it.

Helpless and worried about Pang Bo’s situation, Ye Fan came before a cliff, silently observing the scene.

At this time, the great powers of the Southern Domain—Yaoguang Sanctuary and the Ancient Ji family—had arrived. After much deliberation, they finally decided to unite and break the Demon Emperor’s tomb’s seals.

Under the combined assault of several mighty beings, what had been merely a small breach was torn open further, breaking more of the seals.

For a time, experts from all factions engaged in brutal combat within the palace. Countless spirit weapons radiating various lights flew about; although most were reclaimed by the powerful ones, some still scattered far and wide.

Originally just watching the spectacle, Ye Fan suddenly noticed a gleam flying toward him. He quickly dodged, and with a sharp “shhh” sound, a cyan-green dagger embedded itself in the cliffside.

Overjoyed, Ye Fan rushed forward, pulling out the dagger and handling it with great affection.

“Ha ha ha ha!” At that moment, a plump Taoist priest with a flushed face flew over and reached to snatch the dagger from Ye Fan, speaking kindly, “Child, this is a fierce and ominous weapon. You cannot suppress it! Here, give it to the Taoist; let me quell it!”

Ye Fan curled his lips. Did this old Taoist think he was a child? He tried to dodge, but unexpectedly, despite his bulk, the priest moved with surprising agility and snatched the dagger before Ye Fan could escape.

“Tsk tsk! Truly a worthy spirit weapon—what good fortune for the Taoist!” The plump priest flew off, laughing loudly, “Child, when the mountain won’t turn, the water will. I remember this kindness. When we meet again, I will repay you handsomely. Ha ha ha ha!” And with that, he vanished.

Ye Fan stared blankly in the direction the priest had gone, then spat in frustration, regretting not having put away his treasure earlier.

Helpless, Ye Fan could only give up. This Taoist could fly and was surely more powerful than him. He could do nothing but count himself unlucky.

In the void above, Chen Mi widened her eyes and looked down at the shameless plump Taoist, chuckling, “Brother! Are you saying this plump Taoist is your disciple’s friend?”

Chen Xing gave a wry smile and nodded, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

“Then your disciple can’t be any better, right? After all, birds of a feather flock together,” Chen Mi teased with a sly smile directed at her brother.

“Definitely not! The little one was quite sensible and adorable when he was young!” Chen Xing hurriedly explained. He did not want anyone to misunderstand his disciple.

“Hm! Of course, I believe you!” Chen Mi said, though inwardly she sneered, “Being well-behaved as a child doesn’t guarantee one grows up to be a good person. Brother, you’re the same as always, always protective!”

As the siblings spoke, below, Ye Fan had just been swindled out of another spirit weapon by the plump Taoist, who was gleefully chasing after the flying treasures. Ye Fan cursed the unscrupulous Taoist, stomping and shouting in frustration.

“All right! It’s time we meet that guy,” Chen Xing said with a smile.

“What’s the use of meeting him now? The reincarnation marks haven’t been lifted; he can’t remember ancient events!” Chen Mi said in puzzlement.

Chen Xing shook his head. “I just want to see how much he understands about reincarnation now. After all, if we want to rebuild the cycle of reincarnation in this world in the future, he will be a key player.”

Chen Mi’s mouth twitched. She wanted to say, “Brother! You keep talking and I could have rebuilt reincarnation ages ago. Isn’t this making things unnecessarily complicated?”

Of course, Chen Mi understood that her brother, as the origin of the Dao, naturally had to consider all the planes of existence. He could guide them but could not do everything for them—that would truly harm them.

Meanwhile, the plump Taoist, having obtained several spirit weapons, was joyfully chasing after the scattered treasures, occasionally glancing at Ye Fan with a thought: “That kid really is a lucky star!”

Just as this fellow was reveling in his antics, suddenly his vision darkened, and in the blink of an eye, he found himself in a gray, misty place. The fierce battle at the Demon Emperor’s tomb was faintly visible. Before him stood a man and a woman, exuding boundless immortal spiritual power.

“Void art!” the Taoist exclaimed in alarm. His eyes darted quickly as he smiled obsequiously, “Two elders of the Ji family, I have not caused trouble for your clan! I was merely searching for some spirit weapons slipping through your fingers! If you wish, I can return them to you?”

The plump Taoist sensed the terrifying cultivation of these two and was unwilling to offend them over a few spirit weapons. He cautiously probed their intentions.

“Pfft!” Chen Mi burst out laughing at the sly expression on the Taoist’s face.

Seeing the woman laugh, the Taoist eased up slightly. At least these two hadn’t attacked him on sight.

“Do you recognize me?” Chen Xing asked coldly.

The Taoist was startled and scrutinized Chen Xing carefully. After a long moment, he shook his head, “I have never seen you before, elder. May I ask why you inquire?”

Chen Xing sighed and looked at the plump Taoist. “Your name is Duan De, right?”

The Taoist’s face fell. He had dug into many ancestral tombs of great powers and could not afford to be recognized!

He hurriedly shook his head, “I do not know anyone named Duan De. Perhaps you have mistaken me for someone else.”
