Chapter 107: The Division of Heaven and Earth, The True Emergence of Earth

Upon witnessing the arrival of the Dao Ancestor, everyone hurried forward to pay their respects. Observing the devastated state of the primordial wilderness, the Dao Ancestor sighed softly, then turned to Zhu Feng and said, “Friend Zhu Feng, now that the demon clans have been exterminated, I hope the human race will refrain from further slaughter of demons unrelated to the Heavenly Court. Is that agreeable?”
Zhu Feng lowered his head in thought, then nodded. “I can agree to this, but if any demons harm humans and are slain as a result, I cannot be held responsible.”
Hongjun nodded and continued, “The human race's power has grown too great, which is not a blessing for the primordial world. Those above the quasi-saint rank must retreat to the human ancestral lands for seclusion and may not emerge unless facing a catastrophic threat to the human race. What say you?”
Before Zhu Feng’s arrival, Chenxing had already given instructions: allowing hundreds of human quasi-saints to roam freely would spell doom for other races. Hearing Hongjun’s proposal, Zhu Feng readily nodded in agreement.
Hongjun, pleased, turned to Houtu, who had remained silent, and sighed, “The Witch Clan is cunning indeed! Who would have thought one of the ancestral witches could cultivate the primordial spirit? This calamity upon the demon clan is not undeserved.”
At these words, all present except Zhu Feng were astonished. It was a fundamental law of Heaven that the Witch Clan could not cultivate the primordial spirit. Why then was Houtu exempt?
Seeing their surprise, Hongjun explained, “Houtu was granted a great opportunity. As early as the second discourse at Zi Xiao Palace, she was able to cultivate the primordial spirit. You need not wonder.”
Upon hearing this, the Three Purities and Zhunti exchanged thoughtful glances and regarded the Witch Clan members with unusual eyes.
Hongjun ignored them and addressed Houtu, “Since the Witch Clan retains the legacy of Pangu, I suppose none of the ancestral witches have perished?”
This revelation shocked everyone. They had assumed that even if Houtu could cultivate the primordial spirit, only two ancestral witches remained in the clan, so even if Houtu attained primordial unity, they would not fear them. But if none had died, that was terrifying. Who could withstand the twelve heavenly gods and spirits array led by a single sage?
Seeing the murderous glint in the saints’ eyes, Houtu hurriedly explained, “My brothers have only been revived through their essence and blood, their power diminished to seven or eight tenths. I intend for them to govern the Underworld to benefit the primordial world and never emerge again.”
Upon hearing this, the saints relaxed. Even Zhunti no longer coveted the Underworld. As long as these battle-hardened warriors were pacified, one Underworld was a small price to pay.
Hongjun nodded and said, “Very well. The Underworld shall be controlled by the Witch Clan, but its members must not appear in the mortal world lightly.”
Houtu, delighted, bowed deeply to the Dao Ancestor and respectfully replied, “Yes!” Her heart rejoiced. The words of the Father God were true: if the Witch Clan paid some price and avoided the two great calamities that might destroy the primordial heaven and earth, even Hongjun would spare them.
With affairs settled, Hongjun sighed and gazed upon the fragmented primordial land. Above his head, the jade disc of fate emerged, radiating endless divine light that enveloped the primordial world.

The vast primordial land slowly parted. One continent, including the broken Buzhou Mountain and the demon clan’s Heavenly Court, formed an independent world, its spiritual energy dense though the innate spiritual energy preserved was scant, most having become acquired spiritual energy.
Another, the largest continent, preserved a considerable amount of acquired spiritual energy and formed its own realm. Though still conducive to cultivation, progress would be slower, and the days of a primordial world teeming with great powers would never return.
Finally, Hongjun transformed the remaining fragments of the primordial wilderness into countless spheres, placing them into the starry sky to become acquired stars.
Among all present, only Zhu Feng stared blankly at one azure planet, tears streaming down his face as he murmured, “Earth! This is truly my home!”
Above the Ninth Heaven, Chenxing and his family stood in the void, watching the newly formed continents and countless stars. Their only concern was that small blue planet.
Chenxing’s parents, too, gazed upon it with tear-streaked faces. How long had they yearned to return to their homeland?
Only little Chenchen, cradled in his mother’s arms, curiously wiped the tears from his grandmother’s face and asked in a childlike voice, “Is this Grandma and Daddy’s home?”
Chenxing’s mother kissed the little one affectionately and said kindly, “Yes, this is Grandma’s home, and Chenchen’s home,” her heart full of emotion.
Only Chenxing noticed a shadowy silhouette of Earth, tinged with a trace of darkness, slowly merging into the newborn Earth along the river of time and space. He sighed deeply: with the current human experts, all calamities need no longer require his intervention.
Once the heavens and earth were settled, Hongjun waved his hand and countless beings were scattered across the continents and stars.
Hongjun said to all, “Heaven and earth are separated. Immortals dwell in the Celestial Realm; mortals reside in the Earth Immortal Realm. From now on, to become an immortal one must cultivate within the Earth Immortal Realm and ascend through heavenly tribulations. Those with profound Dao cultivation may attain immortality.
Thereafter, saints must dwell in the primordial chaos and may not descend without cause!”
With that, Hongjun vanished, returning to Zi Xiao Palace.
No one saw that after Hongjun’s departure, Chenxing pointed his finger and a red thread shot from the azure planet, connecting to the Earth Immortal Realm. Countless humans silently followed the thread, transferred by Chenxing to Earth, where they continued development along the same trajectory as the Earth Immortal Realm.
...
Several hundred years have passed since the Witch-Demon War, and Chenxing has been preparing for his journey to cover the heavens.
But on this day, Hongjun’s voice echoed in Chenxing’s ear, “Friend Chenxing, please come to Zi Xiao Palace. Your presence is requested.”
Chenxing was taken aback, then smiled wryly, murmuring, “You want to reestablish the Heavenly Court. What has that to do with me? Why summon me?”

Resigned, he shook his head and vanished from his home.
When Chenxing arrived at Zi Xiao Palace, Zhenyuanzi, the Three Purities, and the two Western Saints were already present. Chenxing was surprised to find Zhu Feng there as well, his face darkening as he finally understood why Hongjun had summoned him.
Upon seeing Chenxing, Zhu Feng rose promptly and greeted him with a chuckle, “Chenzi! You’re here too?” He glanced at Hongjun slyly.
Chenxing replied irritably, “Why aren’t you secluding yourself in the chaotic void? Why come here?”
Zhu Feng scratched his head awkwardly. “Hongjun wants to reestablish the Heavenly Court. I came to see if I could secure something for the human race.” He then pouted. “But these others won’t agree to a human emperor, so they invited you.”
Chenxing rolled his eyes and said, “The human race is so powerful now. If you become emperor, will you leave anyone else alive? Why don’t you do it? I’m sure they’d agree!”
Zhu Feng hurriedly waved his hand, embarrassed. “I’m afraid if I seclude myself and you go traveling, the humans might be bullied.”
“Fine, as long as humans don’t bully others, that’s good enough. Why worry so much?” Chenxing retorted.
As they spoke, Hongjun also rose, smiling wryly, “Thank you, Friend Chenxing.” The other saints also stood and saluted.
Chenxing nodded helplessly. “Decide the Heavenly Court matter yourselves. Don’t mind this guy.”
Upon hearing this, everyone rejoiced. Before Chenxing’s arrival, Zhu Feng had persistently pushed for a human emperor, but the others refused, unwilling to offend Zhu Feng yet unwilling to concede, so the matter had stalled.
Now, with Chenxing’s words, contention erupted. Zhenyuanzi spoke, “Our Taoism is the orthodox path of Heaven. My foremost disciple Zhao Gongming is fit to become the Heavenly Emperor!”
Zhunti nearby hurriedly objected, “If the emperor comes from your sect, it is too closely tied to Friend Zhu Feng. This is unacceptable! My disciple Maitreya, with profound Dao cultivation, is suitable for the position!”
Zhu Feng rolled his eyes in frustration. Was he so unwelcome?
The Old Ancestor calmly said, “This is an Eastern matter; Friend Chenxing is from the West. The position of Heavenly Emperor is not something you should aspire to.”
Tongtian and Yuanshi quickly nodded in agreement, infuriating Zhunti and Maitreya.
