Chapter 104: Hou Yi Shoots the Suns, the War Between the Sorcerer and the Lich Begins
A lightning-fast arrow, piercing through the eyes of the shocked princes, struck the body of the Demon Clan’s Second Prince. With a thunderous boom, the Second Prince vanished into ashes.
"Second Brother!"
"Second Prince!"
The remaining princes wailed in agony.
The Eldest Prince stared with venomous eyes at the tall figure in the distance and shouted, "Flee! We are no match for him!" As he spoke, he unleashed torrents of True Solar Fire, hoping to obstruct the pursuer and buy his brothers time to escape.
"Hmph! You want to run? Today, I shall ensure your demise beneath my Houyi Bow!" The newcomer was none other than the Great Wizard Houyi, who shared a deep bond with Kua Fu. Having left the tribe on business, Houyi had returned to hear that Kua Fu had gone to hunt down the demon princes who were slaughtering the Wizard Clan. Fearing for his friend, he had followed their tracks, only to arrive a step too late. Seeing his old friend perish, Houyi’s rage burned white-hot, leading him to use his newly acquired Sun-Shooting Bow to slay the Second Prince.
Seeing the other princes attempting to flee, Houyi sneered. He drew his bow and aimed at the Eldest Prince, who was trying to block his path with True Solar Fire. The arrow tore through the air, ignoring the searing heat, and reduced the Eldest Prince to dust.
"Eldest Brother!" The remaining princes cried out in despair, scrambling to shield their younger brothers in a desperate bid for their survival. Houyi coldly unleashed several more arrows, and the sounds of the demon princes exploding in the sky echoed one after another.
In the Heavenly Court, Di Jun and Tai Yi were discussing how to deal with the Wizard Clan when Di Jun suddenly felt a sharp pain in his heart. His expression changed drastically as he gasped, "No! My sons are in danger!"
He vanished from the High Heaven Hall instantly. Tai Yi quickly calculated the situation and roared in fury, "Wizard Houyi, you deserve to die!" He summoned the Chaos Bell and vanished as well.
In the sky, nine of the ten demon princes had been slain. Only the youngest remained, shivering and flapping his wings under the protection of his brothers, trying to escape. Houyi aimed his final arrow at him and fired with a cold grunt.
Just as the Tenth Prince was about to follow his brothers to the grave, a bell tolled across the heavens. A burly figure appeared before the prince, blocking the lethal strike. It was the Eastern Emperor Tai Yi, who, relying on the power of the primordial treasure, the Chaos Bell, had arrived before Di Jun to save the last prince.
Seeing Tai Yi, the Tenth Prince sobbed as he threw himself into his uncle’s arms, crying, "Uncle, my brothers have all been killed by this man! You must avenge them!"
"Wizard Houyi!" Before Tai Yi could speak, Di Jun’s roar of fury echoed. With a flash, Di Jun arrived. Seeing that only one of his ten sons remained, he was consumed by grief and rage. He knew that if Tai Yi hadn't arrived first, this last son would have perished as well.
Eyes filled with boundless malice, Di Jun bellowed, "You dare kill my beloved sons? Today, I shall grind your bones to dust!" He summoned the Hetu Luoshu, preparing to strike Houyi down.
"Hmph! You think you have the power to kill a member of my Wizard Clan, Di Jun?" A booming voice rang out. Twelve massive figures appeared in the distance, striding toward them. In an instant, they reached Houyi and shielded him.
"Di Jiang! Your tribe has slaughtered nine of my children. Do you intend to disregard the Dao Ancestor’s agreement and start a war early?" Di Jun, seeing the Twelve Ancestral Wizards, knew killing Houyi was no longer possible, and spoke with a grim face.
"Hmph! You only care that your sons were killed, yet you ignore the atrocities they committed. For over a decade, they have slaughtered countless members of my clan. Millions of creatures across the Great Desolation have perished at their hands! They have caused such grave karmic destruction that even your Demon Clan cannot bear the consequences," replied Houtu.
Di Jun paused, his divine sense sweeping across the Great Desolation. Seeing countless regions reduced to dust and hearing the wails of infinite living beings, his heart sank. He knew Houtu spoke the truth. After a long silence, he hissed, "The time set by the Dao Ancestor has not yet arrived. When it does, I will not let this go!" With that, he vanished along with Tai Yi and the Tenth Prince.
Di Jiang laughed loudly, his voice echoing across the world, "My Wizard Clan will see this through to the end!"
Once back in the Heavenly Court, Di Jun learned the truth from his youngest son and realized the Demon Clan had been manipulated. Yet, he swallowed his anger. He knew that anyone capable of concealing the secrets of fate from him must be one of the Sages. With the current strength of the Demon Clan, declaring war on a Sage would be suicide. His desire to achieve the Primordial Realm became unprecedentedly strong.
Two thousand years passed since the ten suns wreaked havoc. Both clans prepared feverishly for the final showdown. During this time, a shocking event occurred: the wife of a Great Wizard, Chang'e, was manipulated and ascended to the Lunar Star. Houyi pursued her, only to be blocked by the demons, leaving the couple permanently separated. This further intensified the conflict, leaving both sides on the brink of war.
Centuries later, the cycle concluded, and the armies of both clans began to mobilize for the final battle.
Unknown to the warring clans, the Human Clan, having endured the dark calamities, was also sharpening its blades in its ancestral land, ready to strike the demons. At the forefront of the human army, a stout figure waved a black spear, delivering an impassioned pre-battle speech. This was Zhu Feng, wielding the God-Slaying Spear. Chen Xing, worried about the fat man’s insistence on joining the war, had gifted him the God-Slaying Spear and the Twelfth-Grade Black Lotus of Destruction.
"This is the Great Calamity of the Great Desolation, and our time for vengeance has come!" Zhu Feng shouted, spittle flying. "To avenge our fallen kin, we must enter the fray! Tell me, are you afraid?"
The crowd roared in unison, "We are not afraid! Kill the demons! Long live the Saint-Teacher!"
Zhu Feng looked on, satisfied, thinking to himself, "We’re just here to pick up the scraps. With so many Quasi-Sages involved, it would be embarrassing if we still lost."
He raised a hand to silence them. "Do not be hasty. Practice in peace. When the time comes, I shall lead you to take our revenge!"
As the Great Desolation filled with the aura of calamity, even the Sages could no longer foresee the future. The Demon army finally began its march from the Heavenly Court toward the Wizard lands. The remaining seven Demon Marshals rode their exotic beasts, their presence shaking the heavens. Emperor Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Tai Yi stood upon the Nine-Dragon Chariot, the manifestation of the Golden Crow behind them, while the Demon Master Kunpeng stood by their side, his aura piercing the sky.
As the battle loomed, Di Jun felt a pang of worry. He whispered to Tai Yi, "Second Brother, is the Tenth Prince settled?"
Tai Yi smiled, "Brother, rest assured. I have sent him to the Jie Sect. With Tongtian’s protection, he will be safe."
The Three Purities had long since separated, and Tongtian had taken his disciples to Golden Turtle Island in the East Sea. Holding the philosophy of teaching without discrimination, Tongtian protected any creature who joined his sect. Hearing this, Di Jun finally felt a sense of relief.
