When Xia Yuwei walked over with the clothes in her arms, she found the bathroom door open, but the person was gone.
"Lu Yichen!" She called out, walking around the living room. She didn’t believe he could have gone far.
“Over here…” Lu Yichen’s languid voice drifted out from her bedroom.
Xia Yuwei hurried into the bedroom, and at a glance, she saw Lu Yichen sprawled across her pink bed, wrapped up in her thin quilt, hands crossed behind his head as a pillow, looking at her with a relaxed smile.
Wasn’t this the perfect explanation for “taking an inch and asking for a mile”? Xia Yuwei clenched the clothes in her hands tightly, wishing she could drag him up and give him a good beating.
“It’s so comfortable, and there’s a slight fragrance…”
“Comfortable, my foot! Get up, put on your clothes, and get out of my room!” Xia Yuwei threw the clothes onto the bed and shouted at him. If her parents found out a boy was lying on her bed like this, they’d go insane!
Lu Yichen had no intention of moving. Instead, he tugged the quilt tighter around himself.
Xia Yuwei, her blood boiling with anger, acted on impulse and yanked the quilt away!
Lu Yichen was wrapped only in her pink bath towel, his upper body bare, lying on the bed with one hand gripping the corner of the quilt.
“Wow! Old lady, you really are savage! How embarrassing for me!” Lu Yichen said, ignoring Xia Yuwei’s stunned expression, snatching the quilt back from her and covering himself again.
There was plenty for Xia Yuwei to be surprised about: the pink bath towel around him, his naked upper body, and most striking of all, the dense blue and purple bruises covering him!
“Lu Yichen, what happened to you?”
“Nothing. If I don’t wear clothes, you’ll take advantage of me, old lady. Besides, after a night on the sofa, my back is aching, so I’m borrowing your bed for a bit. You’re not that stingy, are you…”
“I’m asking about your injuries! What happened?” Xia Yuwei ignored his narcissistic attempt to change the subject and questioned him sternly.
Did he get into another fight yesterday? Ever since he was young, whether from excess energy or something else, he always seemed to love fighting. Though he had a clever mind, he never used it for studying, and his grades were a mess. She’d told him countless times, but he never listened, instead complaining she was too nagging, like an old woman.
“Oh, it’s nothing…” He seemed utterly uninterested in the question, turned his body away, and closed his eyes as if he were asleep. He didn’t want her to see him like this—why did this old woman have to meddle so much…
“Fine, if you don’t want me to know, I don’t care to know either. Get up and get out. And don’t come looking for me again, you hear?” Xia Yuwei was infuriated by his lazy, indifferent attitude. These past few days, she felt she was starting to lose patience with this guy who was half man, half child.
“So heartless…” He sat up, picked up the clothes, but didn’t start dressing right away. Squinting, half-awake, half-asleep, he looked at Xia Yuwei. “Do you have any pain relief medicine? Help me apply some.”
