Although life at school was not without its ups and downs, most of the time it was uneventful. In the blink of an eye, Li Sicheng found himself at the first weekend break since enrolling at Nanshan High School.

For most students, weekends were fantastic. Free from teachers’ supervision and the constraints of the classroom, they could spend time playing with friends—of course, that was only after finishing their homework. Otherwise, not only would they not enjoy themselves, but their parents would also constantly nag them.

As for the seniors about to face the college entrance exams, weekends held little to look forward to. In fact, one could say they didn’t have weekends at all.

Li Sicheng was no different.

To him, weekends were no different from any other day.

That Saturday morning, as usual, Li Sicheng got up early and left the basement. After washing up, he went to the kitchen and made himself a simple bowl of noodles for breakfast.

Because it was the weekend, Lin Muxue hadn’t gotten up early to make breakfast as she usually did, and Li Sicheng didn’t want to disturb her, so he made do on his own.

As for the servants in the villa, Li Sicheng never called upon them. To him, getting them to wait on him was a luxury he couldn’t afford—not with his frail health and unstable fate, which would only bring him more misfortune if he indulged.

Just as Li Sicheng was slurping his hot noodles, Lin Muxue emerged from her bedroom, yawning, dressed in a creamy white robe.

She had intended to make herself something to eat and then prepare a nutritious breakfast for Li Sicheng and her sister Lin Siyu once they woke up. But to her surprise, Li Sicheng was already eating.

“Oh? Why are you up so early? It’s the weekend. Why not sleep a little more?” Lin Muxue was surprised—her sister Lin Siyu was notorious for not getting up unless the sun was already well past noon. Often, if left undisturbed, the girl could sleep until midday.

“For people, the optimal amount of sleep is seven hours. Any less or more isn’t good,” Li Sicheng replied as he ate.

Lin Muxue hadn’t expected such a serious answer—it sounded like something from a research report. For a moment, she was at a loss for words.

Just then, a delicious aroma wafted into her nose, making her exclaim, “That smells amazing!” At the same time, her stomach let out a soft rumble.

Embarrassed, Lin Muxue instinctively clutched her stomach, her face flushing red with discomfort.

Fortunately, Li Sicheng didn’t tease her. Instead, he asked earnestly, “Are you hungry?”

“Yes,” Lin Muxue replied, cheeks burning, wishing she could disappear into a crack in the floor. Inwardly, she fretted, “How embarrassing! So humiliating! Stomach, why did you have to betray me like that? Just from watching him eat noodles, you had to growl? What if he thinks I’m a glutton?”

Li Sicheng put down his chopsticks and said, “Sit down, I’ll make you a bowl.”

“Huh?” Lin Muxue was startled, her eyes filled with confusion and shyness. “Wait, what does he mean by that? Isn’t this moving a bit fast?”

Li Sicheng looked puzzled. “It’s just making you a bowl of noodles. What does that have to do with moving fast or slow?”

Lin Muxue’s mouth fell open. “Oh, you meant making noodles?”

“What else would I have meant?” Li Sicheng asked curiously.

“I… I…” Lin Muxue’s face grew even redder, as if blood might seep through. She wouldn’t dare admit to her misunderstanding, and could only stammer, “That’s what I meant, too…”

Even she didn’t believe her own words.

Thankfully, Li Sicheng didn’t pursue the matter further, or she’d have died of embarrassment.

“Wait here, it’ll be ready soon,” he said, and went into the kitchen. A few minutes later, he emerged carrying a steaming, fragrant bowl of noodles.

Lin Muxue took a bite, and her eyes immediately lit up with delight. “Wow! This is delicious. I never knew you could cook so well! I’ve never had noodles this good before.”

Li Sicheng waved off her praise with a smile. “Enough, you’re exaggerating. My cooking is nothing compared to yours.” Then he added, “Take your time and enjoy. I’m heading out.”

“Where are you going?” Lin Muxue asked in surprise.

“To school,” Li Sicheng replied.

“But it’s the weekend. Why are you going to school?” Lin Muxue was even more curious.

Li Sicheng didn’t hide the truth. “The feng shui there is better for my health.”

Hearing this, Lin Muxue didn’t press further. She had some understanding of Li Sicheng’s abilities. If it had been her sister Lin Siyu, she would have wrinkled her nose and muttered about him “playing at being a mystic.”

Only after Li Sicheng left the villa did Lin Muxue continue eating her noodles, though she couldn’t calm her heart.

“Who would have thought, besides his extraordinary talents, he’s also amazing at cooking! If… if I could be with him, how happy would I be? Oh, Lin Muxue, you shameless girl—what are you thinking?”

A few servants gathered nearby, watching as she alternated between smiling and staring off into space. They exchanged glances and whispered among themselves:

“What’s up with the young miss? She’s acting strange today!”

“Yeah, something’s definitely off! Say, do you think she’s been poisoned or something?”

“Nonsense. Who gets poisoned and starts smiling and daydreaming? If you ask me, the young miss must be lovesick… I just wonder which young master has the charm to turn our young miss’s head like this.”

Li Sicheng had no idea what was happening back at the villa after his departure.

He was already riding his electric bike out of the English Villa Estates, heading toward Nanshan High School.

But halfway there, his phone rang in his pocket.

He pulled over, took out the old knockoff phone that had long since been phased out of the market, and saw an unfamiliar number.

“Hello, who’s this?” he asked after pressing the answer button.

“Is this Li Sicheng?” A familiar voice came through the phone.

Li Sicheng’s memory was sharper than most. The moment he heard the voice, he recognized it. “That’s me. Is this Senior Liu Wei?”
