Chapter 15: You Should Brew Some Motherwort Tea

Li Sicheng was displeased and first complained to Ma Kang, who was already unconscious, “Hey, aren’t you being unreasonable? I kindly warned you, but you refused to listen, and that’s why you ended up like this. How come, in the end, I get labeled as the harbinger of disaster?”
Then, spreading his hands, he addressed the crowd of students watching the spectacle, “Everyone, tell me honestly, do I look like a jinx to you?”
The students either backed away or avoided his gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.
Although none of them spoke, their reactions had already answered Li Sicheng’s question—they, like Ma Kang, considered him a bringer of misfortune.
If he wasn’t a jinx, how could Ma Kang get hit by the ball twice in just a few minutes?
Oh... wait, to be precise, it was three times.
The last time, Ma Kang fell to the ground, and his head collided with the soccer ball, which finally knocked him out.
Seeing the students’ terrified and wary expressions, Li Sicheng felt both helpless and speechless. He turned and glanced at the bespectacled girl who had been scolded to tears by Ma Kang earlier. After a soft sigh, he asked, “You don’t think I’m a jinx too, do you?”
“Um...” The girl hesitated, unsure how to answer.
To be honest, she did feel that Li Sicheng seemed a bit unlucky. Even if he wasn’t a jinx, he was at least a prophet of bad luck. Otherwise, why did Ma Kang always suffer whenever Li Sicheng opened his mouth, with no way to avoid it?
But morally speaking, thanks to Li Sicheng’s help, she hadn’t been scolded further. Otherwise, she might not only have been berated to tears by Ma Kang, but could even have faced disciplinary action.
Li Sicheng waved his hand with a bitter smile, mocking himself, “Forget it, you don’t have to say anything. From your expression, I know what you’re thinking. Ah... it really is hard to do good deeds.”
“Thank you.”
Perhaps feeling a bit guilty, the bespectacled girl spoke her thanks, though her voice was barely audible.
“No need to thank me. I can’t stand bullying, that’s all. Besides, whenever I do good deeds, I never leave my name or expect anything in return.” Li Sicheng spoke as he walked toward the campus, not forgetting to remind her, “Why are you standing there? Come on, let’s go.”
“Huh? Just like that? Aren’t we going to do anything about Director Ma?” The girl glanced at the unconscious Ma Kang, uncertain.
Li Sicheng didn’t even look back, “Don’t worry, he’ll be fine. Didn’t you notice several students already pulling out their phones to call for help? I’m sure the school nurse will be here soon.”

The girl looked around and, just as Li Sicheng said, saw some students making phone calls while others ran toward the medical office.
Li Sicheng continued, “He just got hit in the head by the ball three times in a row—what serious trouble could that cause? At most, a mild concussion. But if you don’t take this chance to leave, once he wakes up, you won’t be able to get away. He’ll definitely vent his anger on you.”
Hearing this, the girl shivered.
King Ma was notorious for holding grudges. Even the smallest mistake by a student would be relentlessly pursued by him. What’s more, he’d lost face in front of everyone at the school gate this time.
The girl was certain that if she stayed until King Ma woke up, her fate would be miserable! Having her parents called in or facing disciplinary action would be the least of it—she might even be expelled!
Leave!
She had to get away before King Ma regained consciousness!
Anyway, he didn’t know her name or which class she was in. Nanshan High School was huge, with thousands of students—he couldn’t possibly search for each one. Even if he did, he probably wouldn’t remember her face.
The girl made up her mind in an instant. She bent down to pick up the hair clip Ma Kang had broken, then hurried after Li Sicheng, running into the campus.
“Hey, wait, wait for me...”
After running two or three hundred meters, the girl was out of breath. She followed Li Sicheng, curious, and asked, “How did you know King Ma would get unlucky?”
She had been standing right next to Li Sicheng earlier and had heard his initial warning to Ma Kang. At first, she hadn’t paid much attention to it. But as Ma Kang’s misfortune unfolded, she recalled the warning.
Looking back, Li Sicheng’s words seemed almost prophetic. It was natural for her to be curious.
“Even if I explained, you wouldn’t understand. All I can say is, after looking at that person, I knew he’d be unlucky today.” Li Sicheng glanced at the girl and added, “And not only did I know he’d be unlucky—I also know that you should go buy some motherwort and brew it as tea.”
The girl was stunned, confused, and asked, “Motherwort? What’s that? Why should I buy it and drink it?”
Li Sicheng answered seriously, “Why else? Of course, it’s to treat menstrual pain. Every time you have your period, doesn’t your lower abdomen hurt badly? Motherwort can help regulate your cycle and relieve the pain.”
“How... how do you know I have menstrual pain?” The girl’s mouth dropped open in shock, her pretty, innocent face instantly flushing red.

Menstrual pain was something she felt embarrassed to talk about, and she’d only ever mentioned it to a few close friends. No one else, not even her father, knew about it.
But now, a stranger had exposed her secret with a single sentence. How could she not be surprised, anxious, and shy?
Li Sicheng grinned, “Don’t worry about how I know—I just do.”
For some reason, the girl suddenly felt that this handsome young man before her, with his jade-like features, could see through everything and understand all secrets. She shivered involuntarily, her face growing even redder. Her hands instinctively wrapped around her chest, as if afraid his gaze might penetrate her clothing and see something he shouldn’t.
“What are you doing? Are you cold?” Li Sicheng was puzzled by her actions.
But he didn’t dwell on it and asked, “Do you know where the principal’s office is?”
“It’s on the eighth floor of that building, there’s a sign on the door.” The girl didn’t dare point, instead pursed her lips in that direction.
“Thanks.” Li Sicheng nodded and headed toward the building she indicated.
Watching Li Sicheng’s figure, the girl hesitated for a moment before gathering her courage to speak, “My name’s Zhang Xiaoling, I’m from Class Three, Grade One. What’s your name? Which class are you in? I’ve never seen you before.”
“My name’s Li Sicheng, I’m a new transfer student.” Li Sicheng turned around, smiling.
A beam of morning sunlight enveloped him, making his smile shine with brilliance and extraordinary charm.
Zhang Xiaoling felt her heart suddenly begin to race wildly...
