Consumed by fury, Lu Han failed to notice the stranger who had been following them all along.

After Lu Han drove away, the stranger climbed into a nanny van parked by the roadside.

“How did it go?”

The moment he stepped inside, someone grabbed him and demanded an answer. The person questioning him was none other than Yuan Yifei, the celebrity Li Sichen had rescued from the blaze earlier.

Ever since she had seen Wang Guotao take Li Sichen away, Yuan Yifei had been unable to put her mind at ease. After all, Li Sichen was her lifesaver. So, at her insistence, her manager, Sister Ying, had no choice but to accompany her to the police station, despite being thoroughly displeased.

However, to avoid attracting unnecessary gossip, Sister Ying absolutely refused to let Yuan Yifei go to the police station in person. Instead, she sent the driver to investigate the situation.

One could only imagine the shock Liu and the others would have suffered if Yuan Yifei herself had shown up at the police station.

First came the female tyrannosaurus of the police force, then the legendary woman of the business world, and now a top-tier female celebrity from the country...

Just what had that calamity magnet Li Sichen done to deserve so many important figures stepping forward to support him? Most astonishing of all, every single one of them was beautiful!

He was practically begging everyone to hate him!

He was practically making every man green with envy!

They were all men—so how had the gap between them become this enormous?

Fortunately, Yuan Yifei had stayed inside the nanny van and never shown her face. Otherwise, Liu and the others would probably have been ready to die on the spot.

The man who had followed Lu Han and the others was Yuan Yifei’s driver. He had originally intended to ask about Li Sichen, but Lu Han had beaten him to it. That did not prevent him from finding out what had happened.

Hearing Yuan Yifei’s question, the driver hurriedly replied, “Sister Fei, don’t worry. That student has already been released.”

“Whew... That’s good! I knew it. Someone who had dared to rush into a sea of flames to save me couldn’t possibly be the arsonist, could he?” Yuan Yifei patted her chest and let out a long sigh of relief.

“Your Ladyship, now that you’re reassured, can we leave?” Sister Ying urged. “You know how terrifying those paparazzi reporters are these days. If they photograph you outside the police station, who knows what kind of rumors they’ll fabricate!”

Yuan Yifei gave a bitter smile.

Ever since she had become famous, she had lost her freedom. The feeling exhausted her and left her helpless.

After sighing softly, she said, “All right, all right, all right. We’ll do as you say and leave. But, Sister Ying, don’t forget to send Li Sichen a generous gift to thank him for saving my life!”

“When have I ever given you reason to worry about the way I handle things?” Sister Ying replied with a smile before urging the driver to get moving.

The driver hesitated. He had originally wanted to tell her what he had overheard Lu Han muttering to himself, but in the end, he kept silent.

He started the nanny van and drove it to Yuan Yifei’s residence.

After escorting Yuan Yifei inside, Sister Ying reminded her, “Get a good rest. I’ll pick you up for the set tomorrow morning.” Only then did she leave.

The moment she sat back inside the van, the driver spoke up. “Sister Ying, there’s something I didn’t mention earlier...” He then repeated everything he had overheard Lu Han say.

After listening, Sister Ying nodded in satisfaction. “You did well. Don’t let Yuan Yifei know about any of this. Filming already exhausts her; don’t let these trivial matters distract her. If anything similar happens again, tell me just as you did today. I’ll handle it.”

Although she said she would deal with it, she did not take the matter seriously at all.

In Sister Ying’s eyes, whether Li Sichen lived or died had nothing whatsoever to do with her.

Unfortunately, she could never have imagined what kind of person Li Sichen was. Even less could she have known that the decision she made that night would cause her endless regret for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, Li Sichen took the subway back to Nanshan High School. After retrieving his electric scooter, he rode it home at an unhurried, wavering pace to the residence of Lin Muxue and Lin Siyu.

When he arrived, Lin Muxue had not yet returned. Apart from the servants, Lin Siyu was the only one at home.

Seeing Li Sichen push open the door and enter, Lin Siyu hurriedly rose to greet him and asked with concern, “You’re back? Are you all right?”

Her attitude was completely beyond Li Sichen’s expectations, and he found it somewhat unfamiliar.

“Are you worried about me?” Li Sichen asked in surprise, his mouth hanging open.

“Worried about you? I—how could I be?” Lin Siyu’s face instantly flushed red. She hurriedly denied it. “Don’t flatter yourself. I’m not worried about you. I just... I just don’t want my sister to be sad because of you! Yes, that’s it.”

To be fair, Lin Siyu was rather adorable when she was nervous and acting tough.

Li Sichen could not help laughing. “In any case, thank you for your concern.”

Lin Siyu pouted and muttered under her breath, “I already said I wasn’t worried about you...”

Her voice was so soft that Li Sichen could not make out the words. He asked curiously, “Hmm? What did you say?”

“N-nothing.” Lin Siyu had no intention of repeating herself.

Fortunately, Li Sichen did not press her. Instead, he changed the subject. “Oh, right. Do you have Tan Xiaoxiao’s phone number? Give it to me, will you?”

Lin Siyu froze in astonishment and asked, puzzled, “What do you want Xiaoxiao’s number for?”

“To express my thanks,” Li Sichen replied.

“Oh.” Lin Siyu answered and recited Tan Xiaoxiao’s phone number for him.

As she watched Li Sichen walk over to the window and call Tan Xiaoxiao, she pursed her lips again, visibly unhappy.

She complained inwardly, Xiaoxiao asked her aunt to come rescue you, and I asked my sister to rescue you too... Why are you only thanking Xiaoxiao? Why haven’t you thanked me?

This time, however, Lin Siyu had wronged Li Sichen.

By the time Lin Muxue arrived at the police station, Li Sichen had already left. Naturally, he had no idea that Lin Siyu had also gone to bat for him.

Half an hour later, Lin Muxue returned home. She was clever enough not to complain about Li Sichen, much less scold him. She merely reminded him that if he ever encountered anything similar in the future, he absolutely had to remember to call her.

And Li Sichen?

He simply smiled and said, “Don’t worry. I can handle little matters like this.”
