Chapter 12: That Boy Is Quite Handsome
"Who are you?" Ma Kang demanded, unconsciously taking a step back.
Though Li Sicheng was only fifteen or sixteen, he was tall and broad-shouldered. His complexion was a touch pale, but when he set his face sternly, he exuded a palpable sense of pressure.
At this moment, Ma Kang was clearly overawed by that presence, fear creeping into his heart.
"I'm a new student," Li Sicheng replied truthfully.
Although it wasn't the start of a new term, Nanshan High School—one of the most prestigious private schools in Yong City—often had students transferring in mid-year through various connections. Ma Kang was not in the least surprised by this.
Once he understood that Li Sicheng was just a student, Ma Kang's fear vanished in an instant.
What a joke—he was the Dean of Students!
As Dean, he might be wary of many things, but never a student. To him, all students were like grasshoppers, easily crushed in his palm.
Feeling that his earlier reaction was somewhat embarrassing, Ma Kang immediately turned his anger toward Li Sicheng. "What school did you come from? Didn't your teachers ever teach you to respect your elders? Judging by your attitude, I can tell you're no good!"
"I've attended plenty of schools—places like Cambridge, MIT, and LMU, for example. Of course my teachers taught me to respect my elders. But none of them ever said I had to respect someone who is a beast in human clothing."
In contrast to Ma Kang's agitation, Li Sicheng remained composed. Even now, as he faced Ma Kang's fury, he was calm.
"Cambridge University? Massachusetts Institute of Technology? And Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich?"—Ma Kang, worthy of his position, immediately recognized what those acronyms stood for.
His face flushed instantly, a clear sign of rage. "Well, not only do you show no respect, but now you lie as well! If you'd attended those three universities, I'd have won a Nobel Prize by now! And just who do you mean by ‘beast in human clothing’?"
"Whoever is upset by it—that's who I mean," Li Sicheng said, spreading his hands, utterly unconcerned by Ma Kang's anger.
"You—" Ma Kang was nearly choking on his own indignation.
If he got angry, wouldn't that be the same as admitting he was a beast in human clothing? Yet if he didn't, how could he swallow his fury?
Li Sicheng had no interest in wasting time with Ma Kang's dilemma. He reached out and took Glasses Girl by the hand, heading into the campus. "What are you standing there for? Let's go!"
The girl had stopped crying, though tears still glistened at the corners of her eyes.
Being pulled along by Li Sicheng left her flustered; she blushed and struggled a little, but couldn't free herself.
Meanwhile, seeing Li Sicheng ignore him completely, Ma Kang was infuriated.
To him, being ignored like this—publicly, in front of so many students at the school gate—was nothing short of humiliation.
No one at Nanshan High had ever dared treat him this way! What was it if not an insult?
"Stop! You stop right there! I'm not finished with you—how dare you walk away? Do you know what the school rules say about disrespecting your elders?" Ma Kang shouted as he strode after them.
"School rules?" Li Sicheng came to a halt.
Not the slightest hint of fear showed on his face; instead, he smiled faintly. "Well, do the rules say anything about you having a stroke of bad luck today?"
"You... what do you mean to do?"
Though Li Sicheng was smiling, Ma Kang was so startled he took a step back.
"I warn you, this is school property! Don't you dare try anything! If you lay a finger on me, I'll call security and have you taken to the police!"
"Hit you? Why would I bother? You're about to have a string of bad luck as it is—I have no interest in wasting my energy right now." Li Sicheng shrugged. "If I were you, I'd do some good deeds quickly—maybe that'll improve your luck, and you won't have such a bad day."
Ma Kang gritted his teeth. "I've got all day to deal with you! Come with me to the principal's office! If I don't get you expelled from Nanshan High, my name isn't Ma!"
In his eyes, Li Sicheng was a hopelessly bad student.
He'd broken school rules, talked back to his elders, lied, and even threatened and cursed—such a student was beyond redemption!
Of course, the main problem was that Li Sicheng had embarrassed him. If he didn't deal with him harshly and get him expelled, how could Ma Kang maintain his authority at the school? How could he keep intimidating the students?
So, in Ma Kang's view, Li Sicheng had to go.
Though many students at Nanshan High had powerful family backgrounds, Ma Kang did not believe Li Sicheng was one of them.
The reason was simple.
Li Sicheng was plainly dressed; his entire outfit couldn't have cost more than a couple hundred yuan. How could a student like that have any significant connections?
Ma Kang grabbed Li Sicheng hard, trying to drag him toward the principal's office.
Unfortunately for him, his efforts were completely in vain. Li Sicheng's feet seemed rooted to the ground—no matter how he pulled or tugged, he couldn't move him an inch.
This scene was so comical that the students nearby couldn't help but stifle their laughter.
Beneath their amusement, though, they were deeply shocked.
They'd only ever seen Ma Kang bully and punish students. When had any student ever dared treat him this way?
Impressive!
This new transfer student was truly something else!
Not only at the school gate—students inside the teaching building saw what was happening and spread the word with delight.
The news that Dean Ma, the so-called "King of Hell," had finally been put in his place by a student was simply unbelievable—and also incredibly satisfying!
"Look, look! King Ma finally got put in his place!" For a while, students rushed to share the exhilarating news.
In the classroom of Class 3, Grade 10, a girl standing by the window called to her best friend as she watched the commotion, "Siyu, come quick! King Ma actually got put in his place. Hey, who's that boy? I've never seen him before, but he's pretty cute!"
