007 Surveillance
Outside the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Lin Qi and Luo Yingying walked out, each holding a green booklet.
Their assets had been divided: the small apartment went to Lin Qi, while the car and several hundred thousand in savings went to Luo Yingying.
All of these had originally been Lin Qi’s premarital assets, but remembering their time as husband and wife, he didn’t want to be too ruthless.
Luo Yingying had nothing to say. Her backer, Lu Hao, was dead, and the Lu family had made no further moves; getting half was already more than she’d expected.
At last, she was divorced from this food delivery man!
As soon as she left the bureau, Luo Yingying exhaled deeply, didn’t utter a single unnecessary word, and strode away without a backward glance.
Lin Qi, too, turned to his work, beginning another busy day of deliveries.
As dusk fell, Luo Feifei called: “Brother-in-law, I’ve been hired by Longyue Corporation!”
Tang Long’s efficiency was impressive—she’d only mentioned it to him yesterday, and today it was done.
Of course, Lin Qi had given the instructions himself; how could it not be quick?
He smiled and said, “Really? Congratulations! Work hard—Longyue Group is a great company. Do your best to secure a permanent position after your internship!”
“Absolutely, absolutely!” Luo Feifei was still bubbling with excitement. “Brother-in-law, where are you? I want to treat you to dinner!”
She’d promised this before. Lin Qi couldn’t refuse, so he agreed.
They met at a hotpot restaurant near Longyue Group.
Lin Qi arrived on time; Luo Feifei had already been waiting for a while.
This time, Luo Feifei really went all out, ordering several plates of fresh lamb and beef—choosing only the most expensive items.
Lin Qi enjoyed the meal.
“The HR manager called me personally! And when I got to the company, I even met the CEO, Tang Long. They really value me…” Amid the rising steam, Luo Feifei was still immersed in her excitement, animatedly recounting her afternoon interview.
“Mmm… mmm…” Lin Qi nodded along.
“Hey, look! There’s Tang Long!” Luo Feifei suddenly glanced out the window.
Lin Qi looked as well. At the entrance of Longyue Group, Tang Long strode out and slipped into a Maybach with a license plate full of eights.
“So handsome…” Luo Feifei sighed, then quickly grinned. “But of course, nothing compares to you, brother-in-law. You’re the most handsome man in the world in my eyes!”
Lin Qi hardly cared about such things. He smiled faintly and was about to look away when he noticed that as soon as Tang Long’s car pulled out, a white Jetta silently followed behind.
Lin Qi frowned slightly, stood up, and said, “I’m going to the restroom.”
Inside, he checked his surroundings to ensure no one was listening, then took out his phone and dialed.
“Young master…” Tang Long answered at once, his tone respectful.
“There’s a white Jetta tailing you,” Lin Qi said quickly.
“Yes, I’ve noticed it too.”
“Be careful. Find out who it is.”
“Understood.”
After hanging up, Lin Qi waited anxiously, worried that the person behind this might be a powerful figure from the capital.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before Tang Long called back.
“Young master, I’ve found out. It’s a female special agent named Sun Xiaoyun. She suspects I’m involved in Lu Hao’s case and has been following me recently. It’s nothing serious—no one at headquarters is backing her; she’s acting on her own.”
Hearing it was just a junior special agent, Lin Qi relaxed. “Let her follow you. If she can’t find anything, she’ll give up eventually.”
“Understood.”
Lin Qi’s voice suddenly grew cold. “But if she does discover something, you know what to do, don’t you?”
“Don’t worry,” Tang Long replied calmly.
