017 Arrest
Sleeping pills or sedatives require no treatment; once the effects wear off, one simply wakes as usual.
At that moment, Sun Xiaoyun awoke.
Though the curtains were still drawn, it was clear that daylight already poured in, and every muscle in her body ached unbearably.
She sat up with a start, only then realizing she had been lying on the floor—on cold marble, no less. No wonder her entire body was sore!
Turning her head, she saw the bed right beside her, and on it lay a man: Lin Qi.
Lin Qi was sleeping soundly, even snoring lightly.
Of course, Sun Xiaoyun remembered the events of the previous night. She recognized this as Lin Qi’s home and knew he had brought her back here.
The first thing she did was check her clothes. Though somewhat disheveled, everything was intact—clearly, she hadn’t been touched.
But why had she ended up sleeping on the floor?
Fuming, Sun Xiaoyun gave Lin Qi a forceful shove.
“What is it?” Lin Qi opened his eyes blearily, confusion written all over his face.
“Why were you sleeping on the bed while I was on the floor?” Sun Xiaoyun demanded, still bristling with anger.
“Because this is my house.”
That… made a certain sense.
She wanted to retort, perhaps ask if he had any sense of chivalry, but Lin Qi simply rolled over and went back to sleep, so she swallowed her words.
After a moment’s silence, Sun Xiaoyun stood up and went to the bathroom.
She washed up, used the facilities, removed her wig and wiped away her makeup, revealing a face untouched by artifice.
There was no doubt about it—Sun Xiaoyun was a true beauty. But she had never liked being described that way.
That was why she kept her hair short and trained in self-defense—her only wish was to be a bold and valiant nemesis of criminals.
Once she was presentable, Sun Xiaoyun returned to the bedroom. Seeing Lin Qi still fast asleep, her mind drifted back to the events of the previous night.
If Lin Qi hadn’t intervened, she would have found herself in dire peril.
As a special agent, she could have avenged herself on those thugs a thousand ways after the fact, but what good would it do?
At this very moment, Sun Xiaoyun felt immense gratitude toward Lin Qi.
“I hope you’re not the one who killed Lu Hao…” she muttered, then turned toward the kitchen.
She decided to prepare breakfast—a small token of thanks to Lin Qi.
Meanwhile, in Haitong City, at a certain detention center—
Today was the day Young Master Tong was to be “released.”
He had been detained for three days after causing a disturbance in the street and being caught red-handed by Sun Xiaoyun.
Luo Yingying had come in person to pick him up.
“You really are useless…” Luo Yingying fumed. “Didn’t even put up a fight and ended up in detention!”
Tong could only shrug. “What could I do? Who knew there’d be a special agent right there on the street… Got caught on the spot!”
“Useless! Absolutely useless!” Luo Yingying stamped her foot in frustration.
“Don’t get so worked up. I just had some bad luck this time. Next time I’ll definitely deal with that brat!” Tong forced a laugh, clenching his fists.
To be fair, Luo Yingying was indeed beautiful, and there was never a shortage of men willing to do her bidding.
“There’s no need to wait for next time. Now is perfect.” Luo Yingying glanced at her watch. “He does food delivery—usually starts work at ten in the morning. He’s surely still asleep right now! Just take your guys and wait for him at his place. There’ll be no trouble at all.”
“Alright, I’m on it!” Eager to regain his lost pride, Tong sprang into action.
It took him only twenty minutes to gather his crew, and armed with clubs, they headed straight for Lin Qi’s apartment complex.
Luo Yingying had already provided the address, so Tong led the way with ease and soon stood at the door.
He knocked firmly, his men ready behind him.
“Who is it?” came Lin Qi’s voice from inside.
“Delivery!” Tong obviously couldn’t reveal his true identity.
“Oh…” Footsteps approached, and Lin Qi opened the door.
He was still half-asleep and yawned as he answered, but he quickly sensed something was wrong, and his eyes sharpened at once.
“You lot again?” Lin Qi clenched his fists.
“That’s right, it’s us again!” Tong sneered, lifting his club menacingly. “Last time you got lucky—there happened to be a special agent on the street. But this is your own home. There can’t be a special agent here too, can there? Kid, this time no one can save you!”
“What’s going on?” Hearing the commotion outside, Sun Xiaoyun emerged, wielding a spatula.
Tong and his crew were dumbfounded, their jaws dropping one by one.
Of course, they recognized her—she was the very special agent who had arrested them three days ago!
There really was a special agent in Lin Qi’s home!
And she was wearing an apron and holding a spatula—was she making breakfast for him?
How could this be?
Sun Xiaoyun recognized Tong as well.
“You again? And now you’re harassing people at their homes?!” Sun Xiaoyun’s fury was palpable, and though she brandished only a spatula, her presence was commanding. “All of you—hands on your heads, squat down!”
Tong and his lackeys, terrified, immediately complied, squatting in a line in the hallway with their hands clasped on their heads.
“Utter lawlessness! This is a society governed by laws—punishment is a must!” Sun Xiaoyun, livid, pulled out her phone at once.
A patrol car arrived downstairs ten minutes later, and Tong and his gang were taken away yet again.
