137 Two Faces
Over the past year in Huaijiang City, Luo Feifei had lost count of how many similar experiences she had endured.
Sometimes Tang Long could not bear to watch and would ask if she wanted to change jobs, perhaps doing design work behind the scenes, but Luo Feifei always refused, insisting it was nothing and not worth worrying about. Tang Long had no choice but to let her be. It was precisely because of her persistence that her professional growth had been so rapid and astonishing, with her career trajectory rising like a rocket.
Yet, when faced with such insults, she still felt hurt and saddened. No matter how well she tried to hide it, the tears welling in her eyes could not lie.
"Mr. Chai, if you don't want to sign, then don't. Why bully a young girl?" Just then, the door pushed open as Lin Qi and Secretary Hu walked in. Lin Qi had heard everything from outside the door. Seeing Luo Feifei being mistreated, it pained him more than a needle prick, but since it wasn't appropriate to have a falling out with Chai Wuyan over such a minor matter, he could only offer a veiled, sarcastic remark before walking over to help Luo Feifei pick up her scattered documents. In front of her, Lin Qi deliberately rasped his voice to keep her from recognizing him.
Secretary Hu hurried over to help as well, thinking to himself, "Mr. Lin is truly something special when it comes to this girl..."
Chai Wuyan was a big shot after all; not only could he bend when necessary, but he was also adept at masking his emotions. Seeing the actions of Lin Qi and his secretary, he realized he looked the lesser for his outburst. He quickly helped pick up the documents, his expression turning amiable. "My apologies, young lady. I was a bit hot-headed just now. Please don't take it to heart. Next time you come by, I’ll be sure to look over your contract properly."
"No need for 'next time.' Let's look at it now. I'll wait a while; I'm in no rush. It's not easy for a young lady to make the trip out here..." Lin Qi sat on the sofa opposite, picking up a magazine to browse, while Secretary Hu stood behind him.
Since Lin Qi had put it that way, Chai Wuyan had no choice but to return to his desk. "Very well, let me see your contract."
Luo Feifei felt a bit strange. She didn't have a good impression of Mr. Lin, but he had indeed just helped her. How could one person have two such different faces? Still, Luo Feifei wasn't going to let this opportunity slip. She handed over her business card and the stack of documents once more.
"Oh, Luo Feifei from Longyue Group... so you are Vice President Luo..." Chai Wuyan nodded and began flipping through the files.
"Yes. I've been following this project for a long time. I've reached out to one of your vice presidents several times, but he's been quite busy lately, so I decided to try my luck with you..." Luo Feifei began her presentation. She had prepared thoroughly, and her explanation flowed flawlessly without a single hesitation.
Lin Qi listened, and the more he heard, the more he admired her. Compared to a year ago, Luo Feifei had improved even further.
"I think this project is excellent," Lin Qi said as soon as she finished. "Mr. Chai, you should really consider it."
Hearing Mr. Lin speak up for her again, Luo Feifei couldn't help but glance at him quietly.
Chai Wuyan was still looking through the documents. In truth, he was in no mood to take on new projects; the onslaught from Feihong Group was already looming, and he was struggling just to prepare a counterattack. However, as he read, he found himself genuinely interested. The profit margins offered by Longyue Group were incredibly generous—seventy percent of the profit would go to Fangyuan Group! Only a fool would refuse such a deal.
"Did you bring the contract?" Chai Wuyan looked up.
"Yes!" Luo Feifei immediately handed over the prepared contract. Chai Wuyan signed it efficiently, stamped it with the company seal, kept one copy, and returned the other to her.
"Thank you, Mr. Chai! At Longyue Group, we certainly won't let you down!" A brilliant smile lit up Luo Feifei's face.
"Very well, off you go. We can discuss the details further at a later time," Chai Wuyan nodded.
Luo Feifei turned to leave. Secretary Hu seized the moment to interject, "Vice President Luo, aren't you going to thank our Mr. Lin?"
Luo Feifei paused. She had to admit that the successful signing of this contract was largely due to Mr. Lin's intervention. *Fine, credit where credit is due.*
"Thank you!" Luo Feifei bowed to Lin Qi before turning and walking away quickly.
Only then did Lin Qi walk toward Chai Wuyan, who immediately stepped forward to greet him.
"Mr. Lin, if I had known you were coming, I would have arranged a welcome ceremony..." Chai Wuyan smiled warmly. He already knew that Lin Qi intended to annex Fangyuan Group, but he had to play the part of the unaware to buy himself more time.
"No need for a ceremony. I'm just stopping by for a chat. I've just taken office and am making my rounds, so I didn't want to make a fuss..." Lin Qi smiled as well. The two men shook hands like old friends who hadn't seen each other in years.
They drank tea and chatted, and after an hour, Lin Qi rose to take his leave. The moment Lin Qi was gone, Chai Wuyan’s teeth gritted in rage. He immediately dialed a number for Wang Fugui.
"When exactly are you going to kill Lin Qi?!"
