Inside a conference room at the Fangyuan Group, every executive held a copy of Lin Qi’s business plan.
After flipping through the document, the expressions on their faces turned as cold as frost, and cold sweat began to bead on their foreheads. The silence in the room was suffocating, and the palpable tension was evident as perspiration gathered on every brow. Even in the sweltering heat of summer, with the air conditioning off, everyone felt as though they had been plunged into an icy abyss.
According to this plan, the Fangyuan Group would completely collapse, be dismantled, cannibalized, and swallowed up within three months. It was, without a doubt, the most terrifying crisis the company had ever faced.
"Fortunately, we have already obtained this business contract," Chai Wuyan said softly, sensing the thoughts of those present. "Everyone, please share your opinions. What measures should we take to counter the Feihong Group?"
The conference room remained deathly silent. No one dared to answer.
Chai Wuyan frowned slightly. "What is the meaning of this? We have the business plan in our hands—don't tell me you have no solutions?"
Finally, an executive spoke up slowly. "Mr. Chai, this business contract targets every single pain point of the Fangyuan Group. That Lin Qi understands our flaws and vulnerabilities too well. These weaknesses have long been ingrained and deep-seated; they cannot be fixed in a month or two..."
Chai Wuyan gasped. "Are you saying that even with this business plan in our possession, we are completely helpless?"
"There is no way out," the executive shook his head. "We can implement strategic responses, but that would only buy us some time. If he intended to finish us in three months, we might be able to drag it out to a year... but a year from now, we will still be doomed."
"Indeed," another executive added. "Even if Lin Qi were to post this plan on his website or plaster it on every utility pole in the city, it wouldn't change our fate."
"I think a year is optimistic. We’ll be finished in eight months at most."
"This Lin Qi is truly a genius. To devise such a terrifying business plan immediately upon taking office!"
"I heard he’s only in his twenties. He’s a prodigy. Where did the Feihong Group find such a president?"
The other executives chimed in, and for a moment, the conference room was filled with fawning praise for Lin Qi.

Chai Wuyan was so furious his eyes nearly turned green. He had summoned them to devise a strategy, yet here they were, singing Lin Qi’s praises.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Chai Wuyan pounded the table violently. "Enough! All of you, be quiet!"
The room fell silent instantly.
Chai Wuyan took a breath and continued, "Eight months or a year—it doesn't matter. You will draft a response strategy as quickly as possible. Stall for as many days as you can. Leave the rest to me!"
The others nodded in agreement.
Chai Wuyan left the conference room and returned to his office. Even with the enemy’s business plan in hand, he was expected to fail in eight months? Chai Wuyan refused to accept such a fate.
If he couldn't defeat Lin Qi in the business arena, couldn't he resort to underhanded tactics? If that Lin Qi were to suddenly die, could the Feihong Group’s plan still proceed?
Chai Wuyan sneered, a glint of malice flashing in his eyes.
In Huaijiang City, Zhuxi Garden.
Zhuxi Garden was a villa complex located in the suburbs—quiet, elegant, and filled with bamboo groves that rustled whenever the wind blew. This was where Tianji had arranged for Lin Qi to stay. Everyone who lived here was a titan of industry in Huaijiang City.
Lin Qi had been busy for three full days and was exhausted; he was looking forward to a good rest. After a shower, he changed into a bathrobe, sat on the balcony, ate some fruit, and enjoyed the scenery of the estate.

The landscaping in the complex was excellent, and the large distance between the villas ensured maximum privacy and security.
Suddenly, however, Lin Qi’s ears twitched. He could hear it clearly: someone had quietly slipped into his courtyard.
The yard featured its own bamboo grove, a gazebo, and a fish pond. Two young men were stealthily moving through the bamboo. They were barely seventeen or eighteen years old, one with dyed yellow hair and the other with red. Their faces still held a trace of youthful innocence, but their eyes contained a ruthlessness rarely seen in people their age.
Each had a dagger tucked into their waistband.
At their age, they were desperate to "make a name for themselves." To gain status in the underworld, they would do anything. Tonight, they had received a mission: assassinate the new president of the Feihong Group, Lin Qi. Killing him would not only earn them a hefty commission but would also make them legendary figures in the underworld.
The red-haired youth led the way, with the yellow-haired one following behind.
"I’m an expert at killing. Just watch me, and don't lose track of me..." the red-haired youth whispered.
There was no response from behind.
"I'm talking to you, did you hear me?" The red-haired youth turned around and saw the yellow-haired one lying on the ground.
"What's going on? How can you be sleeping at a time like this?" The red-haired youth was furious. Just as he went to kick him, his vision went black, and he, too, "fell asleep."
