After wandering around for half a month, Xue Zuining ultimately followed Elder Su to Yunnan.

Ever since the incident involving the vehicle tailing them, everyone had been on high alert. Unless absolutely necessary, Xue Zuining had to stay quietly inside her room, as that was the safest course of action.

Their residence in Yunnan offered a view right outside the window of the calm and serene Erhai Lake, which guarded this magical land like a mother. In the distance, towering mountains gave birth to countless rivers, nurturing the hardworking people of this earth.

When Su Yi arrived, he only saw a focused yet languid woman leaning against a rattan sofa, her pen sketching something. Stepping closer, he realized Xue Zuining was copying the distant scenery.

"Not bad."

This brief evaluation made Xue Zuining turn her head abruptly, only to find Su Yi's magnified face filling her field of vision.

"Why are you here?" Seeing the man who had been as elusive as a dragon recently suddenly appear before her, Xue Zuining felt a strange sensation stirring in her heart. She wanted to ask him about that man, but she did not know how to bring it up.

Su Yi raised an eyebrow, took her sketchbook, and flipped through a few pages. Most of the works were landscapes, but when he turned to the final page, his gaze shifted abruptly from the drawing to Xue Zuining's face.

At first, Xue Zuining did not understand the look in the man's eyes, but soon she remembered what was on that page and stood up to snatch it back.

Su Yi, however, deliberately raised his hand higher, his peach-blossom eyes curving upward, looking exceptionally pleased at having caught someone red-handed. "Didn't you say you wanted a clean break? Didn't you say you would never pay attention to that man again? Well then, my beautiful Xue, care to explain why you were secretly sketching him?"

Faced with his deliberate provocation, Xue Zuining found herself momentarily speechless and unable to retort.

Seeing her at a loss for words, Su Yi was immensely gratified. This woman was simply all talk and no bite. Look at her—clearly missing someone terribly, yet putting on a pretense of absolute indifference on the surface.

Fine, she could play hard to get all she wanted; he had ways to make her confess willingly.

"Hey, tell me, why are you here just to provoke me? Since when has someone as important as you, Master Su, been so bored out of his mind?" Xue Zuining sat down, took a sip of water to calm her nerves, and looked up at him leisurely. "Besides, if you're here to act as a lobbyist, you'd better watch out."

"Watch out?"

"That's right. Watch out that Grandpa doesn't skin and debone a disobedient good grandson like you."

"Heh, probably not. You can rest assured about that. As for me, I didn't come all this way to waste my breath." Su Yi calculated his moves, and unhurriedly took out a red wedding invitation. "In a few days, it's Lu Huaining's wedding. I'm just here to invite the old man to see if he'll attend. After all, the ties between our two families are right there; we can't afford to be discourteous."

"A wedding? Lu Huaining is getting married?" Xue Zuining bristled like a cat whose fur had been stroked the wrong way.

"You didn't know?" Su Yi crossed his arms and looked at her. "He proposed in the US a week ago, and the bride is rumored to be Ning Cairong—you've met her before."

Xue Zuining frowned, ignoring him entirely as she walked straight toward the door.

Su Yi quickly blocked her path. "Hey, where are you going? The man is finally stepping into the sacred halls of matrimony; you're not planning to hijack the groom, are you?"

"Of course not." Xue Zuining glanced at him and smiled abruptly. "I'm just going to skin him alive, that's all."
