A gas tanker collided with a sedan not far from Luo Fancheng, triggering an explosion.

“Help!”
“Call 120!”
“Hurry, hurry, saving lives is most important, get them out first!”

After the explosion, several people bravely rushed forward to rescue those trapped. Soon, the first victim was carried out. Then the second followed. Good-hearted people continued searching the scene, while the rescued victims moaned in pain on the ground.

Unable to watch any longer, someone shouted anxiously:
“Is there a doctor here?”
“Why isn’t 120 here yet?”
“We called already, they said they’re still on the way.”

Listening to the victims’ cries, Luo Fancheng hurriedly drank a few more mouthfuls of porridge, set down his bowl and chopsticks impatiently, and muttered, “Troublesome.”

The victims were surrounded by onlookers, so Luo Fancheng had to shout from the outside, “Make way, I’m a doctor!”

Finally, a path opened. Everyone turned their gaze to the young man before them.

“He’s so young, can he handle it?” Many were skeptical.

Luo Fancheng ignored the doubts and walked straight to the victims, quietly assessing them.

Number One:
A strong odor of burning.
Eighty percent of the body burned.
Severe burns.
Breathing extremely weak.

Number Two:
About forty percent of the skin burned.
Moderate burns.
Breathing relatively normal.

Luo Fancheng quickly shouted, “Is there any cold water? Bring as much as possible!”

Several men dashed into nearby shops and soon returned with buckets of water. Luo Fancheng looked toward a nearby car wash and called out, “It’s not enough, bring the hose and spray them down!”

While the hose was being connected, he began pouring cold water over the victims.

He also took out a set of silver needles, but as he was preparing to start, an aunt sneered, “So he’s studying traditional medicine, looks like he’s barely qualified at best.”

“How can traditional medicine save lives? What if he kills someone?”

The crowd’s chatter grew louder. Originally, they’d hoped he was a Western doctor, but now saw he was just a young practitioner of traditional medicine—probably still a student.

Luo Fancheng paid no mind and began needling immediately. A doctor must fight for every moment; sometimes a single second can mean life or death.

Thirty-six needles landed precisely on the victim’s body. Luo Fancheng checked the victim’s breathing—it was stabilizing. He finally relaxed.

Just as Luo Fancheng moved to needle the second victim, a large hand blocked his way.

“Kid, which hospital are you an intern at?”

Luo Fancheng was confused; he had never seen this man before, but he must be fifty or sixty, and kept himself in good shape for his age.

“What is it?”

“There’s nothing more for you to do here. Let me handle it,” the man said.

“Oh.”

Luo Fancheng was about to leave but was stopped again.

He looked at the man in confusion.

“To prevent any harm to the victim, I’ll keep you here, just in case,” the man explained while checking the victim’s body.

Luo Fancheng was speechless. The man continued, “Don’t misunderstand, it’s for the victim’s sake. If you have any complaints, you can report me to Jiangbei Hospital. My name is He Tiantao.”

At these words, a murmur rose among the crowd:

“You’re He Tiantao, the famous doctor from Jiangbei Hospital?”
“No way! Is this really Dr. He?”
“I’ve seen his picture at Jiangbei Hospital—it’s him, definitely!”
“With Dr. He here, they’ll be saved for sure.”

Luo Fancheng said nothing, brushing the dust off his clothes and standing aside.

He Tiantao glanced at Luo Fancheng, his eyes full of contempt. Luo Fancheng ignored him, quietly watching every move.

He Tiantao didn’t first attend to the most severely injured victim—the one Luo Fancheng had treated. In Luo Fancheng’s view, his needling had stabilized that victim; now it was just a matter of recovery.

He Tiantao circled the first victim, his expression grave, then turned to the second.

Like other traditional doctors, He Tiantao observed, took the pulse, and finally laid out his silver needles on the ground. After removing the victim’s clothing, he began needling.

As He Tiantao worked, Luo Fancheng inwardly laughed.

This so-called master?
Not even qualified to sweep the floor in my Palace of Medical Immortals!

But the onlookers were full of praise.

“A true master! His technique is so refined.”
“With Dr. He here, these victims are lucky.”
“If Dr. He intervenes, it’s hard to die!”

Two minutes passed, and He Tiantao was still needling when the sound of an ambulance could be heard. Soon, the ambulance from Shenghua Hospital arrived.

Doctors jumped out, stretcher in hand. All were from the emergency department—they recognized Luo Fancheng.

“Director Luo, what are you doing here?” one asked.

“I was just having breakfast when this happened, so I helped out,” Luo Fancheng replied casually.

The crowd gasped.

“So young—and he’s a director?”
“I’ve never seen such a young director!”

He Tiantao stood awkwardly by. Jiangbei Hospital and Shenghua Hospital were the two best in Jiangbei District, one public and one private.

Luo Fancheng was director at Shenghua, while He Tiantao was merely an ordinary doctor at Jiangbei. The comparison was embarrassing.

He had just boasted about his superior medical skills, only to be outdone completely.

Luo Fancheng ignored He Tiantao and boarded the ambulance back to the hospital. Now was a good time to teach his apprentice; it would save trouble in the future.

At the hospital, the two victims were taken into the emergency room. Luo Fancheng quickly sent a text to He Jing, telling her to come study in the ER, then ran to Liu Tianji’s office to change clothes.

“How did things go last time?” Luo Fancheng asked Liu Tianji, seated at his desk.

“His granddaughter was cured by you, and the old lady didn’t pursue anything. She just asked the Chen family for twenty thousand burial expenses to lay her son to rest.”

Luo Fancheng nodded, changing clothes as he spoke, “Today I’ll train my apprentice. You take the lead on this rescue; my apprentice will observe and learn.”

Liu Tianji was speechless, and Luo Fancheng continued, “I was at the accident scene. The most serious case—I’ve already stabilized him with silver needles. You can proceed with confidence.”

Liu Tianji broke into a wicked smile.
