"If that boy were here, you would be the ones in trouble." Facing Bai Feng's question, Gai Nie did not answer directly. He only said sternly, his expression unreadable.

"Is that so? I've heard he's only fifteen or sixteen. To have indirectly killed the Unrivaled Ghost and forced back the Lone Wolf King at such an age, I rather want to meet this young prodigy." Bai Feng turned his wrist, and a bird-feather talisman appeared in each hand.

"Hehe, perhaps that boy would come running to me and behave like a good little thing the moment he shows up." Chi Lian covered her mouth and laughed. She knew Bai Feng's words were really a warning to be careful of the boy who had not yet appeared.

Hiding in the bushes, Si Kong Xu heard their exchange and raised an eyebrow. These two were far too wary. He had originally planned to rush out at once and save Gao Yue, but now it seemed he could only bide his time and think things through.

Fortunately, Si Kong Xu had a certain advantage as well. He was concealed in the thicket behind Chi Lian and Bai Feng, holding his breath and remaining perfectly still. Since they had not discovered him, this was his chance.

Carefully, he leaned his head out. His movements were so light that he feared drawing the attention of the two in front.

Luckily, Chi Lian and Bai Feng were focusing most of their attention on Gai Nie, so they had not noticed that someone had slipped in behind them.

Gai Nie, however, did notice Si Kong Xu peeking out from the front. Fortunately, Uncle Nie was an old hand at acting, and nothing showed on his face.

After noticing Gai Nie glance his way, Si Kong Xu blinked at him, then nodded toward Gao Yue. Whether Gai Nie understood or not, the meaning was plain enough: "I'm going to save Gao Yue. You draw their attention."

Gai Nie merely looked at him once and then turned away, fixing the two in front of him with a cold stare.

"This matter has nothing to do with that girl. I hope you will not harm the innocent."

At that, Chi Lian smiled seductively. "That girl doesn't seem to think so."

Once she had said that much, Gai Nie's gaze turned even colder. From his earlier conversation with Si Kong Xu, he knew Gao Yue had been controlled by Chi Lian's Fire Charm Arts and seemed to have mistaken him for her enemy, which was why she had poisoned him.

"In that case, I can only offend you."

The instant his words fell, Gai Nie's figure vanished from where he stood, leaving only a small puff of dust behind.

"Good!" Bai Feng's eyes widened. He loved sparring with masters, because that was how his own skill improved, and Gai Nie suited that requirement perfectly.

Facing Gai Nie's sudden charge, Bai Feng met him head-on. Four bird-feather talismans slipped from the gaps between his hands and were hurled out, each carrying a surge of true energy so powerful they were almost like bullets.

In that instant, Gai Nie shifted slightly to the side, avoiding two of the talismans. Then his wrist flicked, and Yuan Hong sprang free in a flash, cutting the remaining two talismans cleanly in half.

The next moment, the two had closed the distance. Without a word, Gai Nie brought Yuan Hong straight down, and the fierce sword aura wrapped around the blade seemed to press heavily against Bai Feng's mind.

"Hmph!" Bai Feng snorted and quickly steadied himself. The sword intent carried by Gai Nie's strike was terrifying; even he had been affected to some degree.

Seeing Yuan Hong come crashing down, Bai Feng flipped his hand, revealing the weapon strapped over his palm, a strange blend of dagger and knuckle-guard.

This was the weapon that had made Bai Feng famous across the world: Feather Blades.

Though not hidden weapons, they were still difficult to notice once worn on the hand. Light as a feather yet sharp as a blade, they were the perfect armament for a master like Bai Feng, who lived by his superb lightness skill.

Clang.

Yuan Hong was blocked by Bai Feng's Feather Blades, producing a shrill metallic clash.

"Ha!" Bai Feng exerted force through his wrist and shoved Yuan Hong aside. Then wind seemed to rise beneath his feet as his body blurred with extreme speed, flashing and shifting as he launched attacks around Gai Nie.

Clang, clang, clang.

Every collision between the Feather Blades and Yuan Hong sent out a spray of blinding sparks. Bai Feng's assaults were truly hard to defend against. Thanks to his extraordinary lightness skill, he could alter his position repeatedly in the blink of an eye, allowing his attacks to strike from all directions in an instant.

Unfortunately, even such difficult attacks could not trouble Gai Nie. Sword in hand, he stood rooted to the spot, showing no sign of moving at all. He simply kept using Yuan Hong to block Bai Feng's assaults.

Clang, clang, clang.

The pace of the metal clashes grew faster and faster. Clearly, Bai Feng was accelerating his offensive rhythm, yet even so, Gai Nie remained completely composed.

"Damn it!" After such relentless attacks at high frequency, Bai Feng's arms had begun to ache faintly, and yet Gai Nie still took everything he threw at him without difficulty.

"In that case, take my Phoenix Dance..." Bai Feng's body paused, and he was about to change techniques.

But at that moment, Gai Nie's expression sharpened. The muscles in his right arm tightened violently, and Yuan Hong in his grasp became a streak of afterimage as he swung it straight at Bai Feng.

"What!" Bai Feng never imagined Gai Nie would seize that single moment of his own impatience and counterattack at once. The blurred strike of Yuan Hong before his eyes carried immense menace.

"Move!"

Whoosh.

In an instant, Bai Feng lightly tapped the ground, his body darting like a flying swallow as he drew a strange arc across the earth, instantly widening the distance between himself and Gai Nie.

Regrettably, Gai Nie's sword was simply too fast. Even Bai Feng, the unrivaled master of lightness skill, could not outrun Gai Nie's blade.

That counterstrike left a long gash of blood across Bai Feng's chest. Fortunately, he reacted in time, or the wound would have been much deeper. Otherwise, Bai Feng, that white phoenix renowned for his unmatched movement, might have fallen here.

"There is still another strike here."

In the blink of an eye, Gai Nie swung Yuan Hong again. Just as Bai Feng came to a stop, a blue sword aura tore through the air and rushed at him once more.

"Damn it!" The sword aura was very fast. Bai Feng had only just stopped and had not yet even caught his breath, but upon seeing that sharp beam, he forced himself to inhale and slipped aside to avoid it.

Splash.

After evading Gai Nie's unleashed sword aura, Bai Feng could no longer hold back and spat out a mouthful of blood. He had forced himself to draw in breath for that dodge, and as a result his internal organs had been injured.

However, Gai Nie's sword aura was not finished. It turned out that directly behind Bai Feng's previous position was Chi Lian's location.

In other words, the sword aura Gai Nie had sent out was actually aimed at Chi Lian. Bai Feng had merely happened to stand in its path.

"Bad!"

Chi Lian also noticed Gai Nie's sword aura at once. It was extremely fast, and her lightness skill was nowhere near Bai Feng's monstrous level. Fortunately, she and Gai Nie were far apart, so she had seen the attack coming toward her early.

"Hmph, a little sword aura won't hurt me."

Frowning, Chi Lian lightly tapped the ground and carried Gao Yue away from where they stood.

"Now!"

All at once, Si Kong Xu's eyes lit up from within the bushes. At last, Chi Lian had revealed an opening to him.

Gai Nie had already created the opportunity. The rest depended on him.
