Chapter 135: It's Time to Take Action Against the Ghouls!
As soon as he returned to school, Li Yang sent a message to Sikong Xu, urging him to come to the office immediately.
Suspecting that Li Yang wanted to discuss the ghoul matter, Sikong Xu had Mu Ning escort Liu Mingming to the school infirmary before heading straight to Li Yang’s office.
Upon opening the door and stepping inside, Sikong Xu noticed that besides Li Yang, two other somewhat mature students were also there, engaged in conversation with him.
When Li Yang saw Sikong Xu, he immediately ceased talking to the others and asked, “You weren’t hurt, right?”
“Almost not. Nothing serious,” Sikong Xu replied.
Seeing that Sikong Xu was truly unharmed, Li Yang nodded and said, “This incident has escalated terribly. An entire repair shop wiped out, dozens of living people, only one survivor. The ghoul matter was entrusted to the school by the Supernatural Management Bureau, so the school bears a great deal of responsibility for what happened.”
His gaze sharpened as he added gravely, “And since you’re primarily in charge of the ghoul affairs, the greatest responsibility falls on you. You might even face some criminal charges.”
“Criminal charges…” Sikong Xu murmured expressionlessly. The school was clearly holding him accountable for all the lives lost because of the ghouls.
Though this approach felt unfair, Sikong Xu had no retort; after all, it was indeed his fault. Yet he wondered how the school would react if they knew the dimensional rift had been caused by him.
“But don’t worry,” Li Yang said solemnly, “since you’re still young and inexperienced in handling such matters, the school won’t pursue your responsibility legally.”
Sikong Xu nodded.
“However, with such an incident, you can no longer be in charge of ghoul-related affairs.”
“What do you mean by that?” Sikong Xu detected a different tone in Li Yang’s words.
“It means you’re no longer allowed to intervene in any ghoul matters,” Li Yang replied steadily.
“Not allowed to intervene in any ghoul matters?” Sikong Xu’s expression darkened immediately. “Including the ghouls at the Antique Café?”
“Exactly.”
“What are you all planning to do to the ghouls?” Sikong Xu nearly shouted, sensing something amiss.
Li Yang sighed. Sikong Xu was sharp, but sometimes that wasn’t a blessing.
He glanced at the two students beside him. They exchanged knowing looks, and one stepped forward, extending his hand.
“Hello, junior Sikong Xu. I’m Wang Tingyue, vice president of the student council and one of those responsible for this matter.”
Wang Tingyue’s face always wore a sunny smile, and with his kind tone and good looks, it was no surprise many female students admired him.
Sikong Xu shook Wang Tingyue’s hand, but his expression remained unchanged. “Can you tell me what you intend to do with the ghouls?”
“Heh, you’ve got it wrong. It’s not what I want to do with the ghouls. Although I’m one of those responsible, the decision doesn’t rest with me—it’s the school’s.”
Wang Tingyue smiled helplessly, then introduced the other student.
“This is Wang Hao, vice minister of the Discipline Department, also one of those in charge of this incident.”
Compared to Wang Tingyue, Wang Hao seemed much colder. He merely glanced at Sikong Xu and made no further moves.
“Honestly, we’ve been tasked with exterminating the ghouls.”
“Exterminating the ghouls? Including those at the Antique Café?”
“Correct,” Wang Tingyue nodded.
At that moment, Sikong Xu’s fury erupted. He instantly activated his Gate state and launched a punch at Wang Tingyue.
Boom!
A heavy sound resounded, and a fierce gust of wind swept through the small office.
The sheer power behind Sikong Xu’s punch left everyone present stunned.
Li Yang, Wang Tingyue, and even the coldly indifferent Wang Hao—all showed surprise. This punch was stronger than many second-year students could muster!
But of course, someone who had become vice president of the student council wouldn’t be weak. Wang Tingyue lightly raised his palm, effortlessly catching Sikong Xu’s fist.
“What!”
Sikong Xu was completely taken aback. He had expected to be blocked, but not so effortlessly!
This was his full-power punch with the Gate open—such a blow would intimidate even high-level Yellow Class fighters.
Yet Wang Tingyue caught it single-handedly without moving an inch. Such strength was truly terrifying.
“Junior Sikong Xu, you’ve surprised me,” Wang Tingyue said with his usual friendly smile. “The power behind that punch is probably comparable to a high-level Yellow Class fighter.”
“Tch…” Realizing he couldn’t harm Wang Tingyue with his current strength, Sikong Xu clicked his tongue and deactivated his Gate.
“I assure you, the ghouls in the Antique Café mean no harm. The dangerous ones were all eliminated by me at the repair shop. So could you please…”
“No,” Li Yang interrupted, shaking his head. “This decision was made collectively by several vice principals. I can’t act alone.”
“What about the principal? I’ll go see him.”
“Unfortunately, the principal is currently away on a business trip. If he were here, there might still be hope, but alas, he’s not.”
“Damn it!” Sikong Xu felt the urge to vent. How could the ghouls at the Antique Café stand against the team the school was sending?
Glancing angrily at Li Yang, Sikong Xu turned and left.
But Li Yang suddenly called after him, “You’d better not get too involved in this matter anymore. If you cause more trouble, I won’t be able to help you.”
Sikong Xu paused but then walked on without looking back.
What no one saw was that Sikong Xu left with a smile.
He found himself liking Li Yang more and more—not in a romantic way, mind you, so don’t misunderstand!
He understood the meaning behind Li Yang’s words: “Go ahead and make a fuss if you want, but keep it low-key, or I won’t be able to clean up the mess for you.”
