Chapter 142: Paper Airplane
"Ohayo~!" Tsukimi Rito's cute, chirpy voice rang out from the podium. She was still wearing her maid outfit complete with rabbit ears, but Yechen noticed she was in an inexplicably excited state, as if a long-awaited wish was finally getting a chance to be fulfilled.
"It's just wonderful that everyone's Avgn Twin partners have been successfully decided! Quite a few people have swapped places, and it really feels brand new!" Tsukimi Rito said with a mischievous grin, scanning the classroom with her eyes. "Such an important matter as forming an official Avgn Twin definitely calls for a proper celebration! Plus, everyone's long-awaited mock battles using Blaze will be taking place soon! It's simply too exciting!"
To prove just how thrilled she was at that moment, Tsukimi Rito leaped down from the podium, spun around the classroom, stepped onto a desk, and jumped back up onto the podium. Realizing her actions might have been a bit too exaggerated, she rolled her eyes and said, "So, to celebrate and prepare for the upcoming battles, I have specially invited the two senior girls who kindly tutored you last time! Today's entire schedule will be changed to practical combat classes, yay~!"
With a cute poke of her tongue, Tsukimi Rito tapped her own head and pointed toward the classroom door. The moment she made her announcement, the entire class immediately erupted into protests and complaints, with some even letting out desperate screams. The memory of Saeko Busujima and Shiina single-handedly thrashing the entire class last time was still far too vivid in their minds, causing them to overreact.
"Hehe, just kidding~!" Tsukimi Rito made a peace sign next to her eyes and put on an adorable expression.
Hearing this, the classroom abruptly fell silent. This eerie quiet lasted for a few seconds before giving way to an emotional explosion far more boisterous than boiling water. Compared to the complaints from just moments before, the classroom became even more rowdy as the students picked up small objects around them and began hurling them straight at Tsukimi Rito.
Rulers, fountain pens, chairs, and toilet paper flew toward the podium from all directions, looking very much like they wouldn't stop until they buried her alive.
"Don't joke around like that!"
"Teacher Rito, I seriously want to punch you right now, I'm telling you! I am not joking!"
"Is that the kind of joke you can just casually make?! I almost pissed my pants!"
"Teacher Rito, you come over here right now, I guarantee I won't beat you to death!"
"Wah! Everyone is getting so worked up! No, wait, you're way too excited!" Seeing a dense barrage of objects flying toward her, Tsukimi Rito leaned backward to hide behind the podium, putting on a helmet she had picked up from somewhere. Only her eyes were visible as she looked at the emotionally agitated students in the classroom.
"That looks like fun." Yechen and the others naturally hadn't joined in on the flurry of items being thrown at Tsukimi Rito, but Bai Ji found herself intrigued. She had never encountered anything like this before and was just about to suggest to Yechen that they join in when—
"Here, take this." Turning around just in time, Yechen, who sat right behind Tachibana Kanade and Bai Ji, handed over a folded paper airplane as if he had anticipated Bai Ji's desire to participate. Looking over at their desk, dozens of paper airplanes were neatly stacked there, and Julie was already holding two in her hands.
"Yechen, doing this isn't right." Tachibana Kanade, who also had a paper airplane thrust into her hand by Yechen, tilted her head after realizing his intention and said.
"It's fine. Look, aren't everyone and Teacher Rito having a lot of fun?" Yechen said with his eyes closed, talking nonsense with complete composure. Tachibana Kanade looked blankly at the surrounding classmates, whose expressions were full of righteous indignation and even a hint of annoyance.
"Mm, everyone looks like they're having fun," she said with a cute, innocent nod of affirmation.
"My turn, my turn! Watch my telekinetically guided tracking paper airplane!" Bai Ji instantly transformed into a playful, energetic girl. Using her telekinesis, she controlled the flight path of the paper airplane, steering it around the podium where Tsukimi Rito was taking cover, and looped it around to score a precise hit right on Tsukimi Rito's nose.
"Ow, ouch! Why is this paper airplane so hard?!" A cry of misery and a strange muttering came from behind the podium. Bai Ji giggled quietly to herself; a paper airplane wrapped in telekinetic energy would naturally gain a certain degree of sturdiness—it wouldn't cause any real injury, but getting hit by it would still sting a little.
"Ah, my turn too." Julie picked up three paper airplanes, calculated the angles, and tossed them toward Tsukimi Rito. The three paper airplanes flew out one after another, all tracing perfect parabolic arcs along the exact same trajectory.
"This—ow—paper—ow—airplane! Who threw this?! Ow! Are you ever going to stop?!" Popping her head up while holding the paper airplane Bai Ji had thrown earlier, Tsukimi Rito seemed intent on tracking down the culprit behind the assault on her nose. The moment she emerged, she barely managed two words before another paper airplane smacked her right in the head. Three paper airplanes hit her back-to-back, causing her speech to stutter with every word.
"Guess it's my turn then!" Yechen picked up a single paper airplane, aimed it casually at the podium, and flicked it forward. Don't assume he was just throwing it normally; Yechen had used his precise energy control to infuse a small amount of energy into the paper airplane. Even though the quantity was minimal, the paper airplane still reached speeds comparable to a bullet.
"Boom!" Behind the podium, Tsukimi Rito was regretting her terrible choice of joke—especially since today's paper airplanes were acting exceptionally bizarre—when she heard a high-pitched whistling sound behind her. Before she could figure out what was happening, the podium behind her shattered into pieces, and the blast shockwave blew her a good distance away.
"Is this still a paper airplane?! Have paper airplanes gotten this terrifying nowadays?! Did you guys tie bombs to it because you're trying to murder Teacher Rito?!" Tsukimi Rito felt she had suffered immense psychological trauma, and the urge to complain became utterly irresistible when she realized the projectile was, in fact, still just a paper airplane.
"This looks interesting. I'll join in on the fun too!" Yechenxing, who rarely made an appearance, showed up at that exact moment. By infusing the paper airplane with focused offensive energy, the sharper-nosed glider was granted astonishing cutting power.
"Throw!" Looking at the paper airplane that completely defied all laws of physics and its own structural limits, Tsukimi Rito's mental defenses completely collapsed. What on earth was wrong with paper airplanes these days? They were way too terrifying! She dodged aside as the paper airplane whistled past her head, clipping off her decorative rabbit ears and embedding itself deep into the wall, leaving a clean, transparent gouge behind.
"Kanade, you're the only one left. If you don't throw one, we're going to be mad," Bai Ji said, exploiting Tachibana Kanade's personality weakness.
"I understand." Tachibana Kanade didn't use any abilities and simply gave it a gentle toss.
"All of you, stop right now! Teacher Rito is genuinely angry!" Seeing that the students were still refusing to stop throwing things at her despite the escalating situation, Tsukimi Rito felt she was about to explode. The violent side of her personality that she usually kept hidden was on the verge of breaking through.
Just then, the classroom door swung open, and Saeko Busujima walked in with a smile, holding a paper airplane in her hand.
