0140 Dancing Under the Moonlight
Jiang Feng was frantic, unable to decide what he should do.
If demonic energy had not penetrated too deeply, it could be forcibly driven out with bright force. That was the ordinary method of treating demonic energy.
But now, his Heavenly Heart Seed had been completely occupied by demonic energy. All his bright force had been forced into the Origin Branch, where it was trapped and unable to move. With two demons surrounding him, there was no way for him to use even the slightest bit of bright force.
Kuzhan was locked in fierce combat with Chaofeng and had no attention to spare for what was happening here. But some things had clearly been arranged deliberately by Chaofeng.
He swept a glance over with the corner of his eye, then suddenly gave a light laugh and shouted, “Rise!”
At his command, Bai Guo abruptly sprang upright from Jiang Feng’s arms and stood rigidly on the ground like a puppet.
The garment Jiang Feng had draped over her earlier had already slipped to the ground. Half of her breast was exposed, perfectly rounded and dazzlingly white. Not long ago, the sight had filled her with shock and embarrassment. Now, however, she stood stiffly without expression, allowing it to remain exposed beneath the moonlight.
Chaofeng shouted, “Kill that brat!”
The instant Jiang Feng heard this, he sprang backward. A tree stood behind him, and a moment later he felt the hardness of its trunk against his back. At that moment, a sheet of silver-white sword light poured toward him like water, completely enveloping him!
Most of Bai Guo had been invaded by demonic energy, turning her into Chaofeng’s puppet. Under his control, she drew the sharp sword concealed within her sleeve without hesitation and attacked Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng struck out with his fist just as decisively. Purple-black lightning flashed and exploded against Bai Guo’s blade, barely forcing her back.
Joy stirred in his heart. Although he could no longer use bright force, the Falling Thunder Palm could still be unleashed through demonic energy!
Kuzhan blocked Chaofeng, while Jiang Feng and Bai Guo became locked in battle. The two sides were evenly matched.
Under normal circumstances, Bai Guo was an entire level above Jiang Feng. He truly would not have been her opponent. But she had only just been seized by the demonic energy and had not yet been completely corrupted. Her body was stiff as a puppet, far less agile than usual. Her attacks were ferocious, yet they repeatedly passed inches from him, unable to touch even a strand of his hair.
Even so, Jiang Feng grew increasingly anxious.
Chaofeng could afford to drag things out. Jiang Feng could not!
Earlier, when they had fought in the Changchuan River, Chaofeng had summoned a vast quantity of demonic energy, forming a dense demonic fog that blanketed the water and roiled without end.
Now that they had moved elsewhere, the fog had not dispersed at all. Instead, it had grown thicker and spread over an ever-wider area.
Jiang Feng did not need anyone to tell him what that meant—the demonic cavern beneath the Changchuan River was about to open again!
Once the demonic cavern had fully opened, sealing it would be far more difficult than sealing it before its emergence. Kuzhan had handled it so easily last time because he had been powerful enough and no one had interfered. This time, he was seriously wounded, with Chaofeng at his side. Could he still seal it as effortlessly as before?
There was also Bai Guo.
This proud young woman had now been tainted by demonic energy and transformed into Chaofeng’s puppet. Was it permanent? Would she remain like this forever, with no way to reverse it?
But whether it could be reversed or not, it had to be dealt with as quickly as possible. The longer it lasted, the deeper the demonic energy would sink, and the more difficult it would be for her to return to her original state.
Jiang Feng drew a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his unease as he calmly assessed the situation around him.
For the moment, he set aside the demonic cavern and focused his attention on Bai Guo.
Her pupils and irises had already turned completely black. The demonic energy was spreading toward the whites of her eyes, about to consume them entirely.
Watching Bai Guo change little by little, Jiang Feng knew he could delay no longer. He took a deep breath, and a flicker of golden light appeared in his eyes. With the demonic energy having completely occupied his Heavenly Heart Seed, he forcibly activated his bright force.
The bright force was compelled out of the Origin Branch and entered the Heavenly Heart Seed.
Like a drop of water falling into oil, the demonic energy instantly began to writhe and boil.
Jiang Feng’s head rang with a buzzing sound, and his eyes reddened slightly. Memories obtained from Zhezhi suddenly surged into his mind. The violence and frenzy belonging to the demonic energy rose fiercely within him, only to be rapidly diluted by the bright force.
More and more bright force entered the Heavenly Heart Seed. Mixed together with the demonic energy, it formed a strange state.
These were two forces of utterly different natures. At first glance, they seemed completely dissimilar, yet Jiang Feng had long since discovered that they shared some peculiar commonality, like the two sides of a mirror—opposed, yet unified.
Now, bright force and demonic energy slowly mingled within the Heavenly Heart Seed, intertwining with one another.
They resembled two fish swimming in pursuit of each other, each biting the other’s tail, circling endlessly. Within the Heavenly Heart Seed, this condition settled into a strange balance, so stable that it seemed capable of continuing forever.
Jiang Feng was astonished by what he saw within the Heavenly Heart Seed. But he suspected he no longer had time to observe or experiment further.
Sword light flashed again and again as Bai Guo swept back and forth along the riverbank, sword in hand. Moonlight fell gently upon her body, filtering through her tattered clothes and revealing her beautiful, spotless form.
In contrast, her face was utterly different. Her blackened eyes made that lovely countenance seem bizarre and deeply unsettling beneath the night sky.
Jiang Feng raised his hand without hesitation. As he passed Bai Guo, he extended one finger and touched the place over her heart. A mass of golden light pierced into her body.
That crossing motion and flick of his finger had been planned long in advance, executed with perfect precision. A soft sensation traveled up from his fingertip, but Jiang Feng had no time to savor it. He immediately cried out inwardly, “This is bad!”
The attack had come too hastily. The bright force that entered Bai Guo’s body had not been fully refined and still contained a trace of demonic energy!
Even outside his body, that trace of demonic energy retained some of the state it had possessed within the Heavenly Heart Seed. It joined end to end with the bright force, depending upon it even as the two depended upon each other.
The mixed force entered Bai Guo’s body. Her entire body jerked violently, and she froze.
At the other end of the battlefield, Chaofeng caught sight of her from the corner of his eye. His brow furrowed, and he shouted, “Move!”
At his command, Bai Guo’s body jerked again. She took one step toward Jiang Feng, then stopped.
Then, as though two forces were fighting within her for control, her trembling grew more violent. Her limbs twisted at bizarre angles.
Jiang Feng stared at her intently. No one knew what would happen after the bright force mixed with a trace of demonic energy had entered Bai Guo’s body.
A moment later, something even more bizarre occurred.
Bai Guo trembled for a long while, then suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood!
Jiang Feng was standing not far away. Caught completely off guard, he was struck full in the face by the spray.
He was first shocked. Then he wrinkled his nose, wiped some of the blood away, and brought it close to smell. He sensed a peculiar trace within it, but it was so faint that he could not identify it.
He had no time to think further. Bai Guo’s condition was growing more severe!
Blood began to flow from all seven of her orifices.
A moment later, blood seeped from every pore of her body. In the space of a few breaths, she had become a blood-covered figure, so thoroughly drenched that even her features could no longer be seen.
How could this happen? Could the mixture of demonic energy with bright force turn a person into this?
Both shocked and anxious, Jiang Feng hurried forward and seized Bai Guo by the wrist, wanting to examine her condition.
The instant he touched her, his expression changed.
Bai Guo’s wrist was unnaturally soft, as though the bones inside had been removed.
Her wrist suddenly moved and slipped free of Jiang Feng’s grasp. At the same time, a soft moan sounded beside his ear. It was an exceedingly strange sound, like an intimate sigh, yet it carried a trace of clear resonance. It was not thick or cloying.
Then another soft note followed, and another. Beneath the moonlight, the sounds rose and fell in graceful succession, like a melody.
Jiang Feng retreated a step, staring in astonishment as Bai Guo seemed to become an entirely different person and began to dance beneath the moon.
Her whole body was as supple as though she had no bones, able to assume one exquisite posture after another with effortless ease. Whether bending at the waist or lifting a leg, every movement was astonishingly beautiful, as if each gesture naturally contained some profound principle of heaven and earth.
At the same time, she murmured softly. None of the syllables belonged to any human language, nor to the demonic tongue in his memories. Jiang Feng could not understand a word, yet found the sounds incomparably beautiful.
Each syllable seemed to sink directly into his heart. The demonic energy and bright force within his Heavenly Heart Seed, which had been surging violently, gradually settled amid the dance and song.
The demonic energy lost its former savagery, while the bright force likewise became gentle and warm.
The two forces merged, circling endlessly.
Bai Guo sang and danced beneath the moon. Moonlight draped itself over her body, making her so captivating that she seemed no longer to belong to the mortal world.
The bloodstains upon her body gradually faded, and her pale skin gave off a faint radiance. Her torn clothing could no longer conceal her form, exposing her slender shoulders, full breasts, delicate waist, and rounded hips.
Yet as they watched her, no one felt the slightest trace of obscenity. A supreme and mysterious beauty descended upon the place, causing every human and every demon present to lose themselves completely.
Before anyone realized it, Kuzhan and Chaofeng had ceased fighting. They approached Bai Guo and stared at her in a daze.
Even Bai Guo’s features had undergone subtle changes. Her originally round and sweet beauty had become delicate and clear, and together with her posture and song, she resembled a celestial being.
A faint smile touched her lips. Her eyes remained fixed upon her own movements, wholly lost in them.
The Heavenly Heart Seed grew ever calmer. Now the bright force and demonic energy were clearly distinct, yet they revolved around each other in perfect harmony. At times they expanded, at times they contracted, as though echoing Bai Guo’s dance and song.
Jiang Feng felt an incomparable peace settle over his heart. All struggles seemed to have receded into the far distance. Whether demons or humans, none of it seemed important anymore.
Yes. In this world, apart from such song and dance, what else could possibly matter?
At that moment, the golden bloodline beneath the Heavenly Heart Seed suddenly stirred.
Like an icy spring at the bottom of a ravine, a chill abruptly poured into Jiang Feng’s heart. He instantly regained consciousness!
He took a step backward and realized in shock that he had nearly been completely controlled by Bai Guo.
His will had always been extraordinarily firm, yet even he had been controlled in an instant. Who exactly was Bai Guo? Where had this dance and song come from?
No—he soon realized that he was not the only one who had been controlled.
The demonic general Kuzhan and the demon commander Chaofeng were equally bewildered. Following Bai Guo’s movements, they had begun to dance as well!
