“What?” Mo Xing exclaimed in surprise. No wonder there had been no movement nearby after the recent bombardment—it turned out all those wild dogs had gone after Shi Yan!
This was far too risky!
“No, I have to go help her!” Mo Xing declared firmly, rising and running toward the direction from which he’d just come.
“It’s too dangerous! I’ll go with you!” Wu Dan Ce said, keeping pace with Mo Xing.
“What about us?” Dong Jun asked, still cradling the Swiftshadow Fox in his arms.
“We’ll go with you too!” Ling Buyu said. “After all, you saved my life! We want to help as well!”
Wu Dan Ce glanced back at them, frowning slightly.
“If we stay here, it’s not much safer. If those wild dogs suddenly appear, I won’t be able to handle them…” Ling Buyu added, and it was true!
“All right, follow us!”
Wu Dan Ce summoned the High-Altitude Flyer and ran off in Mo Xing’s direction.
“Wow! So cool! It can fly!” Dong Jun’s eyes sparkled, looking up as if admiring a kite.
“All right, Dong Jun, climb up. Let’s chase after them together!” Ling Buyu swung himself onto Elder Forest’s back, grabbing Dong Jun up with him.
“Okay!”
Dong Jun settled in front of Ling Buyu, waving his arms gleefully, his face bright with smiles:
“Let’s chase the kite!”

“Shi Yan! Where are you?”
Mo Xing called out through the Titan Ring, but there was no response from Shi Yan’s end.
“Oh heavens! Please let nothing happen!” Mo Xing’s heart was in his throat.
“Mo Xing! Mo Xing!”
Suddenly, a reply came through the Titan Ring.
“Shi Yan, what’s going on over there?” Mo Xing asked anxiously.
“Well… how should I put it…” Shi Yan’s voice came through, “I’m on my way to you! You and Wu Dan Ce, get ready to unleash your big moves!”
“Ah?” Mo Xing was puzzled.
“Ten seconds! In ten seconds, unleash your big moves toward the front!” Shi Yan said.
“But… what about you?” Mo Xing asked in alarm. “You could get hurt!”
“Don’t worry, I have a way to dodge it!” Shi Yan replied. “Trust me! Listen for my countdown!”
“All right! I trust you!”
Mo Xing looked up and shouted to Wu Dan Ce, who was flying above: “Wu Dan Ce, get ready to unleash your big move forward!”
“Huh?” Wu Dan Ce was bewildered.
“Shi Yan’s orders! Listen for my countdown!” Mo Xing yelled.
“Right! You give the signal!” Wu Dan Ce understood; from his vantage point, he could see the pack of Crimson Lotus Hounds chasing Shi Yan toward them.
Shi Yan used Shadowstep, moving swiftly and avoiding attacks from the Crimson Lotus Hounds, but her stamina was nearly spent!
“Three!” Shi Yan called.
“Three!” Mo Xing relayed the signal.
“Two!” Shi Yan continued.
“Two!” Mo Xing raised his blade.
“One!” Both voices echoed together.
The countdown ended, and Mo Xing unleashed a dozen curving ice blades forward!
Coldwater Whirlstrike!
“Here it comes!” Wu Dan Ce hurled Destructive Strike, dozens of shells raining down toward the Crimson Lotus Hound pack.
“Shi Yan! Dodge carefully!” Mo Xing reminded.
“Don’t worry!” Shi Yan smiled, trailing a phantom behind her. Her speed doubled, and the surrounding attacks slowed dramatically in her perception, allowing her to weave deftly among them.
Zero Hour!
Shi Yan dashed into the safe zone, spun around, and raised her twin pistols, unleashing her skill—
Explosive Double Shot!
Three distinct forces converged, bursting forth in a powerful surge!
Boom!
The Crimson Lotus Hounds wailed and fell one after another.
“Nice!”
Wu Dan Ce cheered enthusiastically, watching clearly from above; this maneuver wiped out the enemy in one blow!
“This… this is the big move strategy!” Ling Buyu, riding up from behind, exclaimed in awe.
“Although the Crimson Lotus Hounds have strong burst power, their defenses are lacking. The big move strategy is perfect against them!” Dong Jun analyzed, combining knowledge from books and experience in the field.
Mo Xing gazed ahead for a moment, confirming that all the Crimson Lotus Hounds had been neutralized, and let out a sigh of relief.
“It’s all taken care of. Excellent teamwork.” Shi Yan walked over with a smile.
“Shi Yan…” Mo Xing turned to her, but suddenly his pupils contracted—Shi Yan stumbled and collapsed to the ground.
“Shi Yan!” Mo Xing rushed over.
“What happened?” Wu Dan Ce hurried over as well.
“Shi Yan! Are you all right?” Mo Xing supported her, anxious.
“I’m fine… just ran too fast…” Shi Yan said weakly, “I can hardly stand up now…”
“No way?” Mo Xing was stunned.
“If only we had a healer.” Wu Dan Ce shook his head.
“Let me take a look.”
A voice sounded behind them.
They turned to see Ling Buyu, whom they had just saved, riding Elder Forest and stopping before them. Dong Jun peeked out curiously.
“I specialize in healing, so I have my own methods for these kinds of injuries.” Ling Buyu explained.
“That’s right, Senior Ling Buyu is amazing!” Dong Jun praised.
“Ling Buyu?” Shi Yan pondered, “Are you… Ling Buyu from the Immortal Spirit Academy?”
“Yes, that’s me.” Ling Buyu nodded, jumping down from Elder Forest’s back. “I didn’t think my name would be known. Who might you be?”
“Royal Sky Academy, second year, dual pistols, Shi Yan.” Shi Yan introduced herself.
“Royal Sky Academy, first year, artillery, Wu Dan Ce.” Wu Dan Ce gave his name as well.
“Royal Sky Academy…” Mo Xing was about to introduce himself, but Dong Jun beat him to it:
“Wow! I know you all! Sister Shi Yan is a member of last year’s championship team for the Summer Cup! And Brother Wu Dan Ce is this year’s top freshman!”
“Dong Jun, don’t interrupt when others are speaking!” Ling Buyu reminded him.
“Okay, okay.” Dong Jun nodded obediently.
“It’s all right.” Mo Xing smiled, thinking it had been a while since he’d met such a cute boy. “I’m Mo Xing, first year magic swordsman, Royal Sky Academy.”
“Mo Xing?” Ling Buyu frowned.

Three hours later.
Night had fallen. The five of them found a safe spot at Crimson Lotus Shore, set up camp, and lit a fire for dinner.
The sky was a tranquil crimson, with a few twinkling stars visible now and then.
“Just like the books say—when night falls, the sky above Crimson Lotus Shore turns red!” Dong Jun exclaimed happily.
“Yes, it’s beautiful!” Ling Buyu nodded beside him.
Mo Xing smiled at the two of them. Over the past three hours, the five had gotten to know each other.
Ling Buyu: third year student at Immortal Spirit Academy, healing summoner, specialized summon beast—Elder Forest.
Dong Jun: first year student at Immortal Spirit Academy, agile summoner, specialized summon beast—Swiftshadow Fox.
Their situation was similar to Mo Xing’s. After completing a task in Dragon Roar Canyon earlier that day, they too had their path back to Han Chuan Academy cut off by mutant drakonids.
By chance, the two groups met here—fate, one might say! Mo Xing, Shi Yan, and Wu Dan Ce helped them out of the Crimson Lotus Hound predicament, and they in turn saved the injured Shi Yan.
All in the same boat!
“Mo Xing…”
Suddenly, Shi Yan called his name, and Mo Xing turned toward her:
“What is it?”
“How many days’ worth of food did you all pack in your storage rings?” Shi Yan asked.
“Food?” Wu Dan Ce, who was tidying up nearby, looked up. “I only have enough for three days.”
“Dong Jun and I each have two days’ worth.” Ling Buyu said.
“I have five days’ worth.” Mo Xing paused. “Why do you ask?”
“Han Chuan Academy sent word—we’ll need to maintain this situation for a while longer. We won’t be able to restock food during this time.” Shi Yan explained seriously. “So starting tomorrow, eat as little as possible. This will be a long battle. Everyone needs to be aware of that.”
“Ah… No way!” Wu Dan Ce was stunned; he usually ate five bowls per meal, otherwise he’d never feel full.
“Oh no…” Dong Jun scratched his head. “It’s going to be tough for a while…”
“It’s all right. If you don’t have enough…” Ling Buyu smiled. “I can share some with you. Don’t go hungry.”
“But what about you?” Dong Jun bit his lip.
“Don’t worry, I have enough.” Ling Buyu assured him.
“Er… Let’s stay positive.” Mo Xing said. “If we really can’t go back, we can find food elsewhere!”
“Right.” Shi Yan nodded. “We’ll search the area again in the morning.”
“Hey, have you ever heard the legend of the Hungry Wolf?” Dong Jun pouted.
“Hungry Wolf legend?” Mo Xing shook his head. “I don’t think I’ve heard of it.”
“It’s a local legend from Dragon Fang Island!” Dong Jun said. “And it happened right here at Crimson Lotus Shore!”
“I really haven’t heard of it…” Wu Dan Ce scratched his head. “I know a lot about Aslan’s industrial history, though.”
“Dong Jun, did you read about this in a book?” Ling Buyu asked, knowing Dong Jun loved reading and spent whole days in the Immortal Spirit Academy library.
“Yes!” Dong Jun nodded, his green hair swaying.
“They say that when night falls, a giant hungry wolf appears at Crimson Lotus Shore. It sneaks up on other beasts while they sleep and devours them all!” Dong Jun gestured vividly as he described the scene.
“It’s said it can scent other creatures from a thousand miles away!”
“Do you think the hungry wolf might sneak up on us while we sleep?” Dong Jun asked, frowning.
“No, no, we’ll take turns standing watch tonight.” Mo Xing said with a smile. “Nothing will happen.”
“We dealt with so many Crimson Lotus Hounds! Just one hungry wolf—before we even act, it’ll run away!” Wu Dan Ce patted his chest.
“Right! So sleep easy, Dong Jun.” Ling Buyu said.
“Mm… Thanks, everyone! I’ll go to bed now!” Dong Jun nodded. “The books say early to bed and early to rise is good for you!”
“Go ahead.” Ling Buyu smiled, watching Dong Jun crawl into his tent.
“Haha, such an interesting boy.” Wu Dan Ce yawned. “Who’s on first watch?”
Mo Xing pondered, and Shi Yan raised her hand:
“Mo Xing and I!”
