Volume One: Awakening of the Dragon Soul Chapter Seven: Out of Control
“My path is mine to command!”
At Mo Xing’s command, the weapons flew toward Chen Anye.
Chen Anye quickly regained his composure and released the power of the Metal Element, forming a shield of steel around himself. Gifted with an innate talent for Metal Element since childhood, he had chosen the Gunner path—a profession rich in technological prowess—when he joined Saint Sky Royal Academy.
The Steel Shield, one of the most formidable defensive skills, could shrug off ordinary attacks as if they were mere tickles—especially from these novice weapons wielded by beginners.
The incoming weapons clattered against the Steel Shield, hovering in midair, unable to break through its defense.
Chen Anye smiled. He didn’t quite understand why this level-zero Mo Xing had suddenly transformed, his inner strength surging to nearly rival the twentieth level of the Greenwood Tier.
Yet, standing before someone at the fifty-second level of Greenwood, Mo Xing was like a three-year-old child throwing a tantrum.
“Break!” Mo Xing roared. The weapons recoiled, then surged forward in a more violent assault.
A sharp crack split the air—the Steel Shield had begun to fracture! Realizing the danger, Chen Anye swiftly raised his right hand. The storage ring, “Titan’s Right,” flashed with light, and a silvery heavy cannon materialized at his side.
He hefted his personal cannon. In the instant the Steel Shield was breached, a surge of magnetic energy blasted from the cannon’s barrel. Every weapon was drawn toward the magnetic field, clustering together. With a thunderous explosion, the weapons were scattered and shattered across the ground.
Electromagnetic Blast—one of the Gunner’s core skills at Saint Sky Royal Academy, often used to counter sudden assaults or seize an opening for counterattack. As a sophomore Gunner, Chen Anye was intimately familiar with its use.
But what mattered most now was to help Mo Xing regain his senses. The boy seemed possessed, his power swelling rapidly, already nearing the fortieth level of Greenwood!
“Reverse!”
Mo Xing bellowed again, the blue-violet light in his eyes blazing brighter still. To Chen Anye’s shock, the shattered weapons on the ground began to reassemble, rising into the air to launch yet another assault.
“Stun Grenade!”
Chen Anye acted first, launching a cyan-white grenade that struck Mo Xing with perfect precision.
Mo Xing collapsed, and the airborne weapons clattered to the ground. Chen Anye exhaled in relief. From not far off came the sound of commotion—a group of students was running over. The training arenas were close to each other, and the recent fight had attracted a crowd of curious freshmen.
“Senior Chen Anye, what just happened?”
“Isn’t that Mo Xing, the level-zero?”
“Did he challenge you to a duel and get beaten down?”
“Haha, talk about overestimating himself!”
The freshmen burst into laughter. Chen Anye didn’t know how to respond, his gaze lingering on Mo Xing’s prone form as he replayed the battle in his mind. This Mo Xing was no level-zero; his strength had clearly approached the fortieth level of Greenwood! Not only was his explosive power astounding, he even possessed some strange ability to repair objects! But why had the crystal ball rated him at level zero? Chen Anye simply couldn’t make sense of it.
“Hey, level-zero pig!” One freshman walked over and kicked Mo Xing. “Still lying there? Get up, it’s time for dinner!”
The students erupted in laughter again.
“Show him some respect,” Chen Anye said suddenly, his stern tone making the freshmen freeze in confusion.
“Respect? Senior, you’re being too polite!” the student who had kicked Mo Xing chuckled. “With a level-zero pig like this, I could rub him into the dirt!”
Mo Xing’s fingers twitched.
“Oh? Planning to hit me?” the freshman jeered. “Just so you know, I’m at the twelfth level of Greenwood—”
Before he could finish, Mo Xing rose and grabbed him by the collar, tossing him like a sandbag. The student tumbled more than ten meters across the ground.
The crowd stared in shock, cold sweat beading on their foreheads.
Chen Anye’s face turned pale. The power radiating from Mo Xing was now even stronger than before—he was surpassing Chen Anye himself!
Mo Xing’s eyes blazed violet, exuding a suffocating murderous aura. His hands moved, drawing weapons up to float around him. With a deafening roar, he shouted:
“Kill!”
The weapons hurtled toward the freshman. Whether the Steel Shield could withstand this assault or not was beside the point—at that speed, Chen Anye knew he could not save the boy in time!
At the critical moment, the weapons were shattered by a sudden missile barrage. Teacher Apocalypse appeared in midair, wielding his personalized heavy cannon, “Star’s Wrath,” with a pair of dazzling wings unfurled behind him.
Dragon God’s Wings! Those who reached the Azure level could manifest their power as Dragon God’s Wings, granting flight and aerial combat. The higher one’s rank, the more magnificent the wings. Teacher Apocalypse had already attained the second rank of the Violet Cauldron tier, his wings shimmering with enchanting purple light.
He raised “Star’s Wrath” and fired a blue-white energy blast at Mo Xing. As the projectile flew, it split into countless smaller energy spheres that circled Mo Xing, then merged into a larger sphere, trapping him inside.
“Is that… an Ionic Shield?” Chen Anye exclaimed in surprise. The Ionic Shield was indeed one of the Gunner’s strongest defensive skills, but he’d never seen it used like this before.
“Restricting the enemy’s output is a form of defense as well,” replied Teacher Apocalypse.
He landed beside Chen Anye, patting his shoulder as he watched Mo Xing.
“He’s nearly at his limit,” Teacher Apocalypse said.
“Teacher, why is he like this?” Chen Anye turned to ask, but Teacher Apocalypse only shook his head.
“It’s complicated,” he replied. “Hurry and contact the school infirmary!”
