Volume One: The Dragon Soul Awakens Chapter 75: Little Fists Pound You!
Mo Xing turned his head and saw a violet lion lunging toward him.
“Frozen Miles!”
With a swift movement, Mo Xing unleashed a skill at its face, briefly freezing the purple lion midair. Seizing the moment, he cast “Frigid Spiral Storm,” soaring to safety.
“Roar—”
The frozen lion crashed to the ground, shards of frost shattered, but more precisely, the violet flames erupting from its body forced the ice apart.
“Demonic Flame Violet Gold Lion!” someone exclaimed.
“A king-tier wild beast from Dragon’s Roar Canyon!”
“Aren’t Demonic Flame Serpents and Demonic Flame Violet Gold Lions natural enemies?”
“How can they appear together?”
“This goes against all reason!”
“There are several Demonic Flame Violet Gold Lions here as well!”
From the eerie forest emerged dozens of these lions, encircling Mo Xing and his senior brothers. Mo Xing wiped cold sweat from his left hand, gripping “Divine Frostless” tightly in his right. Judging from his earlier performance, his “Frozen Miles” was not particularly effective against the lions. Given his seniors’ opinions, these beasts were clearly not ordinary, and their numbers were overwhelming.
This was truly a hard battle!
“Roar—”
All the lions surged forward, overwhelming like a tidal wave.
“Ice Pillars!”
Mo Xing gathered water elements, summoning a ring of ice pillars to briefly freeze the charging lions. He then released “Ice Blade,” piercing through their bodies.
He’d been too merciful before, never expecting such ferocity from these beasts; without going all out he’d be done for!
Mo Xing swung his blade fiercely, delivering a decisive strike to the frozen lions. The ice shattered, and they howled in agony, their whole bodies dissolving into violet flames.
“What… what’s happening?” Mo Xing wondered aloud, suddenly sensing a powerful aura as the temperature around him soared dozens of degrees.
“Demonic Flame Legion!”
“They’re unleashing their ultimate skill!”
“All at once!”
“Run, run, hurry!”
His senior brothers quickly unfurled their Dragon God Wings, wings of various hues appearing behind them as they scrambled into the air, leaving Mo Xing alone on the ground.
“What the—? Don’t leave me behind! I haven’t learned Dragon God Wings yet!” Mo Xing waved frantically; these seniors were utterly unreliable! When the Divine Ark was falling, they chose to flee, and now, surrounded by these lions, they ran again!
Had the spirit of camaraderie been devoured by dogs?
“That junior Mo Xing is calling for help!” someone said from above.
“Ignore him! He can escape on his own!” another sneered.
Mo Xing looked up, pupils contracted—the sneering face above was Gou Ge!
“He’s a freshman chosen for the Dragon Fang Island support squad; he must have his own tricks. We’ll just watch,” Gou Ge grinned maliciously.
Damn, what a cruel heart! Clearly seeking revenge for past grievances! Mo Xing cursed inwardly.
No time to dwell on it! He had to dodge these burning lions first!
Mo Xing turned, casting “Frozen Miles” in an attempt to freeze the advancing lions, but it was ineffective; the swelling violet flames broke free instantly, neutralizing his newly mastered skill.
“Frigid—”
Before he could finish, a flaming lion barreled into him, knocking him to the ground; his clothes were torn, the burning violet flames searing his skin and nerves—pain beyond measure!
“Whirling Strike!”
Clenching his teeth, Mo Xing gripped “Divine Frostless,” swinging a curved ice blade at the lion’s head.
“Roar—”
The lion howled in pain, its body arching upward. Mo Xing seized the moment, kicking it away, then rolled across the grass to extinguish the flames, simultaneously summoning water elements to soothe his wounds.
Luckily, Zhang Zhihao had arranged strength training for him; otherwise, he might not have been able to kick away a beast weighing over two hundred kilograms.
“Roar—”
The other lions charged. Mo Xing scrambled up, unleashed “Frigid Spiral Storm,” streams of water forming circles and striking the lions’ eyes, blocking their vision. Using the flight property of the skill, he escaped the encirclement.
If only he could continuously cast “Frigid Spiral Storm,” perhaps he could fly back to the Divine Ark like a bamboo-copter in some anime.
Suddenly, as he soared, a stone formed from earth elements struck him, throwing him off balance and sending him tumbling down.
As he fell, Mo Xing saw Gou Ge grinning wickedly overhead—it was he who had attacked!
Despicable! Not only refusing to help, but deliberately sabotaging!
Mo Xing crashed to the ground, the lions pounced. He rolled desperately, slashing at the nearest target with “Divine Frostless.”
“Roar—”
The closest lion cried out in pain, and the others, hearing the call, surged forward, burying Mo Xing beneath their mass.
“Hahahahaha—” Gou Ge laughed from above. “So arrogant before, and now look at you! Didn’t expect this, did you?”
“Gou Ge, isn’t abandoning a teammate a bit much? How will we explain this later?” someone asked, eyeing the mass of lions piling atop Mo Xing, wondering if he’d already been torn apart.
“No worries, losing one doesn’t matter. Missions like this always claim lives,” Gou Ge shrugged. “We’ll say he left the team on his own and was eaten. A dead man can’t prove we betrayed him.”
“Don’t speak too soon!”
A voice rose from below. Gou Ge and the others looked down to see a dazzling blue light radiate forth, the pride of lions forced back by a powerful force. Mo Xing stood, “Divine Frostless” in his hand enveloped in blue-white mist.
“Blue radiance—like frost’s brilliance!” Mo Xing murmured, his hair lifted by the white haze.
“How is this possible? He’s not dead? Is he cheating?” Gou Ge was shocked. He hadn’t expected such strength—was this really the freshman from the Aoki tier? He was far beyond himself!
“What a prodigy!” The others marveled. Mo Xing’s opponent was the Demonic Flame Violet Gold Lion—a king-tier wild beast from Dragon’s Roar Canyon! Not only were these lions immensely powerful, but each weighed over two hundred kilograms, enough to crush a man outright!
Yet Mo Xing had defied the odds, using some primordial force to drive away the lions—not just one, but dozens!
Astounding!
Mo Xing took a deep breath, eyeing the lions that now dared not approach—he must have intimidated them.
He couldn’t explain what had happened; he only remembered that as the lions attacked, white mist rose around him, forming a huge blue-white sphere that kept all the lions outside.
Unable to break through, the lions clustered around the sphere. Its color deepened, and a mighty force blasted them away, leaving Mo Xing unscathed—it truly felt like cheating!
The only certainty was that this powerful force had erupted from “Divine Frostless” in his hand.
“Hahahaha, fascinating!”
A voice sounded from afar, and Mo Xing scanned the area. Suddenly, a crimson figure appeared before him. The man’s head bore unusual angular horns, his hair burned with red flames yet was unscorched, and his fists were a pair of dragon heads!
Grotesque, a creature unlike any other!
“This weapon actually has a soul imprint skill—how interesting,” the stranger laughed, flames flickering from his mouth.
“Who… who are you?” Mo Xing’s nerves tightened; he sensed the man’s aura far exceeded that of the lions—no, it crushed them utterly!
“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself,” the man stretched his arms, flexing, “My title is Crimson Flame Battle God, though I’m better known as Firepower Old Man!”
“What? Firepower Old Man! He’s a Dragonkin!” Gou Ge cried in shock from above; this was one of Dragon Fang Island’s most famous Dragonkin, said to defeat any opponent with just three punches!
“Oh, almost forgot about you folks,” Firepower Old Man raised his head, swinging a fist upward; instantly, everyone in the air cried out and was knocked down.
Mo Xing was stunned—what kind of skill was this? To hit people at such a distance, and without any visible skill trajectory!
“How dull, their bones shattered with just one punch!” Firepower Old Man shook his head, then stared at Mo Xing. “Young man, your bones are remarkable; if you can repel so many violet lions, you should be able to withstand my little punch.”
“Are you sure it’s a little punch?” Mo Xing eyed the fist, bigger than a basketball, recalling its earlier power, and felt a chill run through his chest.
“I don’t want to bully you—just one punch,” Firepower Old Man pointed to the grass where Gou Ge and the others lay in agony. “If you can take it, I’ll spare you and your seniors.”
“Like hell I believe you! You’re a rotten old man!” Mo Xing stepped back, his mind racing through countless defensive strategies.
“I, Firepower Old Man, always keep my word—never go back on what I say,” he declared confidently.
“This first punch is quite the lesson! Gathered on the fist, explosive impact, splits mountains and cracks earth…” Firepower Old Man explained, sounding like an old teacher giving a lecture.
“Frigid Whirling Strike!”
Mo Xing gathered water elements on his blade, swinging several curved ice slashes. Rather than defend, he chose to attack!
“Oh, you interrupted my explanation,” Firepower Old Man shook his head and swung a fist at Mo Xing.
“A roar! Crimson Flame Explosive Punch!”
The flying ice blades shattered instantly; Mo Xing felt a crushing force, as if his bones and organs were struck by a meteor.
Shattered—broken!
