Bian Yang didn’t care about the movie at all; his dark eyes gleamed with a light, focused solely on one thing—

“So, I’m your boyfriend now.”

Her cheeks flushed a gentle pink as she whispered, “…Yes.”

Bian Yang lowered his head to look at her, drawing close, “So, we’re officially dating now.”

Tang Yu blinked, instinctively stepping back, but he caught her wrist and pulled her into his embrace.

Following the force, Tang Yu’s body leaned forward, nearly colliding with him.

The young girl swallowed softly, her voice dropping even lower, “…Yes.”

“So you like me too, right?”

He inched closer, his breath mingling with the familiar scent of cedar.

Tang Yu held her breath, hearing nothing but the boy’s heartbeat pounding in her ears.

She gave a faint “Mm,” then rubbed the damp sweat from her palm with her fingertip. “I like you.”

What followed was the sound of the boy’s restrained chuckle.

Perplexed, she looked up to see Bian Yang’s eyes curved in a smile, usually aloof and proud, now shimmering like a pool of spring water, reflecting the joy filling him.

“That’s so quiet, who could possibly hear it?”

Though the laughter was barely contained in his eyes, his words teased, “Not sincere at all.”

Tang Yu suspected he was doing it on purpose and puffed out her cheeks. “If you didn’t hear it clearly, why are you laughing…”

Bian Yang raised his brows slightly. “You spoke softly, so don’t blame me.” Then coaxing, “Tang Xiaoyu, say it again. I really didn’t catch that.”

Tang Yu licked her lips, a bit stubborn, “If you didn’t hear it, then forget it.”

She tried to pull her hand away.

Bian Yang gripped tighter, a smile twinkling in his eyes. “Why are you like this? Tang Xiaoyu, such a big temper. Just started dating and already giving your boyfriend the cold shoulder.”

Tang Yu huffed, her ears tinged pink. “You already heard it—you’re just teasing me.”

His fingertips slowly slid down her wrist, inch by inch, until they reached her palm, their fingers entwined.

“Then I apologize to you, young lady.”

His grip tightened slightly, as if trying to dissolve time itself.

Faint shadows of trees flickered over his shoulder, Bian Yang’s eyes sparkling with an irrepressible smile.

“As punishment, from now on, you have to be mine and serve me forever.”

From school to the cinema was a long walk.

Hand in hand, they never let go, as if they could walk beyond the horizon, and yet they were not tired at all.

Tang Yu had booked tickets for a movie entirely in English, even the subtitles were in English.

They were the only two in the entire theater.

Bian Yang leaned back in his seat, slowly scanning the surroundings, then tilted his head to look at the girl sipping her milk tea beside him. “Did you do this on purpose?”

She bit the straw of her milk tea, her gaze slightly dazed. “Huh?”

“The entire place is pitch-black, the seats are pitch-black, and it’s just the two of us brightly lit.”

Tang Xiaoyu suddenly realized something and glanced around.

Perhaps because it was an all-English film, and the movie was about to start, no one else had arrived.

He sat with legs casually spread, idly playing with her warm fingers, his tone playful and teasing, “Such an intimate atmosphere.”

Tang Yu was embarrassed, her cheeks burning.

“I booked it to practice listening to English, didn’t think much of it.”

How could she have expected that no one else would come...

“I didn’t do it on purpose…”

She whispered in defense.

Bian Yang raised his brows slightly, his tone lazy and mischievous, “So what if you did?”

The movie had already begun, the theater lights dimmed, and the boy’s face, slightly turned, looked even more delicate in the interplay of light and shadow. His beautiful eyes stared motionlessly, as if one glance could pull you in—a subtle, silent temptation.

“Or is it that I don’t attract you at all?”

Tang Yu licked the corner of her lips, her gaze flickering a few times before lowering her head, biting the straw more tightly.

Hearing the protagonist’s voice in the movie, she quickly changed the subject, stumbling over her words, “It’s starting.”

Then, sitting up straight, she set aside her milk tea and earnestly watched the film, eyes fixed forward.

Bian Yang rested his cheek on his hand, watching her.

In the dim light, the girl’s skin glowed pale, her long lashes fluttering occasionally, each one distinct, framing her eyes bright and clear like glass beads.

But it was clear she was nervous—her fingertips clenched together tightly.

Bian Yang liked teasing her but dared not be too harsh.

So he slowly pried apart her clenched fingers one by one, placing them in his palm, rubbing and playing with them. Her skin was soft; a gentle press left a mark. He seemed addicted, not even focusing on the movie.

Tang Yu’s attention was initially diverted, but gradually she shifted focus back to the screen.

The movie’s title was The Pursuit of Happyness.

After three months of training, her English had improved significantly—enough to understand a full English movie.

Still, there were sentences that felt awkward.

Whenever that happened, she would lightly tap the boy’s palm with her fingertip, blink a few times, and look at him with a questioning gaze.

He would patiently lean over and whisper explanations by her ear.

Halfway through, she felt moved by the protagonist’s hardships and eventual triumph.

You see, whenever you think life is about to end in failure, the next page might just be happiness.

Unbeknownst to her, lost in thought, she failed to notice the growing look of slight resentment in the young man beside her.

Tang Yu was so absorbed in asking about English words that she didn’t even spare him a glance.

So when she next tapped his palm, asking about a word in the movie, Bian Yang lowered his head, pretending not to see.

She tapped again, puzzled, still receiving no response; her gaze inevitably darted to his face several times before her fingers were drawn into his warm palm.

“Tang Xiaoyu.” The boy’s face half-shadowed, his tone a little annoyed, “Is the movie good?”

Tang Yu answered honestly, “It’s good!”

Bian Yang chuckled, barely hiding his amusement, clenching his back teeth slightly as he stared at her lips, damp from the milk tea, then suddenly asked, “Better than me?”

“…”

“This movie can be watched anytime. You can go home and watch it over and over again.” His thumb massaged her palm with a mysterious look. “But do you know that right now, your boyfriend is limited edition?”

Tang Yu blinked slowly, not quite understanding.

Until he leaned in, one hand resting on the back of her neck, gently stroking the soft skin there, his voice dropping low.

“The start of our official relationship should come with an official kiss, right?”

Tang Yu’s body stiffened; the places he touched inexplicably warmed.

“I think it should,” he said, eyes curling slightly, drawing even closer.

The boy’s face was inches away, breath audible.

Her mind felt rusty, words stumbling out, “Just started dating and… ki-kiss…” She deliberately mumbled the last two words, growing softer, “Isn’t it… a bit too soon?”

Bian Yang’s hand ran through her hair, tenderly caressing the back of her head, pulling her closer.

“We’re not kissing for the first time.”

The gesture was heavy with an irresistible pressure, as if to hold her firmly in place.

Their breaths mingled, growing thinner.

Tang Yu felt breathless.

“The first time, you kissed me. Forgot?”

He tapped the side of his face and spoke slowly and deliberately, “Right here.”

Instantly, Tang Yu was transported back to that day—when she’d searched for a guide online.

Bian Yang had been angry then.

That was her first kiss with him, though it wasn’t romantic.

“The second time was at the doorstep.”

He leaned in, his fingertip brushing her lips, eyes lowered, gaze fixed there for a few seconds. “Right here.”

The vast theater suddenly seemed smaller, the darkness filled with warmth.

Tang Yu’s lips felt like they were on fire, her lashes trembling slightly.

She was nervous.

Probably because she hadn’t yet adjusted to their new relationship.

“So the third time—the first day of officially dating—why not here too?”

His eyes shone with spring’s warmth, his fingertips caressing her lips with just the right pressure, lingering again and again.

Those pure, bright eyes and soft, rosy lips together were so beautiful, it made him want to sin.
