Chapter 143: Wu Mengmeng Visits the Room in the Middle of the Night
Venturing out at a time like this was tantamount to risking one's life in zombie-infested territory.
Yet, Li Hu agreed without a moment's hesitation.
"I can help you look for diesel. I was planning on heading out to scavenge for food anyway; living on nothing but these crackers every day isn't sustainable."
He had intended to make a supply run within the next couple of days.
Was this truly the same "Master Hu," the legend of the underworld, who once chased an enemy across thirteen streets single-handedly, dismembered him, and terrified two hundred others into retreat?
The dead are gone. At the very least, he was someone Lu Tangtang had once loved. Even if he could not extend that affection to those around him, he had never intended to take revenge on Fang Yunshen; his targets, from beginning to end, were Lu Mengfei and Lu Lian.
A newcomer arriving at the camp was usually not a significant event, but since this person had arrived displaying such arrogance and lawlessness, even beating the camp's second-in-command to a pulp, it had become a major issue.
Diana and Meng Qi stared at each other in silence. After Meng Qi finished speaking, she burst into tears again, then hugged him, catching him off guard with her sudden display of emotion.
"Don't worry, I've had it ready for you for a long time." Duo Duo said, tapping the console a few times. A frame rose from the floor, filled with fresh vegetables.
She left the Miaowen sub-peak and began to wander through the sect. She wanted to see if it still felt like the home she remembered. The sect had not changed much, though there were many new faces. Having been in the mountains for sixty years, this was the second recruitment drive since she had joined.
"Xiao Zhe, are you telling the truth or just making this up?" Xia Erruo asked, still filled with suspicion.
After Yun Chi left, she did not return to the sect, but instead walked aimlessly through the streets of the market. Suddenly, a dull ache radiated from her heart—a signal from the Three Souls Soul-Swapping Array. She had been away from the mortal realm for too long, and separated from Yan Ya for too great a distance and too long a time.
"Boss, the army has released your portrait for a nationwide manhunt. We aren't safe in this country anymore. Should we consider fleeing elsewhere?" A shocking secret drifted from the room next door.
Some of the creatures living in the area shrieked and scrambled to hide. A few overconfident ones even tried to attack the giant spider, but it ignored them entirely, charging forward as if they were not even there.
Silence followed, and in the dim light, the ninja saw his six companions staring at him in unison.
"Oh, oh, oh... Old Jiang, holy crap! You're still alive?!" As a golden light streaked across the distant sky like a meteor, the figure arrived before the voice even faded. Looking at Jiang Dong, who was perfectly fine, the two donkey-eyed men felt their own eyes light up with joy.
In the midst of the chaotic brawl, Griffin and Mejri each landed a punch on the other. Yi Yang tried to join the fray after scrambling to his feet, but Dirk held him back with a firm grip. He wasn't worried about Yi Yang; he was worried that Griffin wouldn't be able to leave Dallas alive if faced with both Yi Yang and Mejri.
"My fellow Daoist, if you don't believe us, why ask? Li Batian is indeed exceptionally gifted, but our clan is not lacking in such talented disciples. This is no great matter for us; why would we lie?" The Seventh Supervisor said, his face darkening as he retorted bluntly.
"But this thing is pitch black. If I wear it, won't I be as blind as a bat?" General Hu picked up a pair of sunglasses, turning them over in his hands.
Before opening her eyes, she stretched her body and gave a long yawn, only then slowly fluttering her eyes open.
Wang Yuankui treated him like the boss he had once fought in the Demon-Locking Tower, throwing every ultimate technique he had at him.
Ye Tian was stunned when he heard this, and couldn't help but ask curiously, "You mean you don't know her?" He pointed toward the room next door.
The magical beasts huddled in the corners, trembling. No one knew why the dragon had suddenly appeared, nor what it was doing; they only hoped they wouldn't be caught in the crossfire.
