Chapter 10: All Borrowed from the Land of Cherry Blossoms
In the subsequent natural disasters, various changes would occur. For instance, there might be a massive explosion somewhere, or strange phenomena might appear in another place. In the later stages, bizarre mutated beasts could emerge, and beast hordes might first appear in certain regions. All this information was absolutely crucial. If he were to head to the Tibetan Plateau, it would mean enduring hardship all over again, which was entirely unnecessary for Cao Bin.
The supplies he had hoarded in his spatial storage had long surpassed his initial goals. In the beginning, he thought that gathering a billion or even ten billion in resources would be impressive, but now, by rough estimation, he had accumulated over a hundred billion. With all these resources, he could live in absolute comfort, spending the coming disasters as if on vacation.
As for the disasters that would follow, the changes yet to come, or the beast hordes—whether he could survive would depend on the whims of fate. Or perhaps on whether he could become even more formidable.
...
During his actions in the Land of Cherry Blossoms, he was truly unrestrained, without a single concern. If he could pilfer unnoticed, he would do so as before. If stealth wasn’t possible, he would take by force.
He now possessed a wide array of tools and materials. With his knowledge, crafting destructive items—like makeshift explosives—was child’s play.
Thus, chaos reigned in the Land of Fireworks in the days that followed. Their most renowned company, Four Peaks Heavy Industries, suffered a sudden, inexplicable explosion at its factory.
Everyone was frantically fleeing for their lives, while Cao Bin slipped in unnoticed amidst the chaos. With no one paying him the slightest attention, he emptied the world-famous factory in a single night.
You must understand, this factory housed vast reserves of machinery and equipment: everything from household appliances, printers, copiers, to parts for cars—transmissions, engines, finished vehicles, light cars, heavy trucks, heavy machinery. The country had even secretly stockpiled materials for manufacturing nuclear weapons.
Cao Bin accepted all of it with a smile, taking everything.
The next day, another large factory exploded—an even fiercer blast than the day before. The result was the same: the entire facility was left bare.
This factory was the Guestworks Factory, home to the nation’s most advanced weapons and ammunition—bullets, pistols, rifles, machine guns, body armor, rocket launchers, armored vehicles, heavy artillery. Over ten thousand tons of military equipment vanished without a trace.
This sent the country into a state of utter panic. They inspected every device and monitored every security feed, but found not a single clue.
...
On the following day, their largest water plant and sewage treatment facility also exploded. This time, the local police quickly sensed something was amiss. They diverted all personnel to the site, but upon inspection, discovered that all their most advanced water processors and purifiers had disappeared, along with all the treated water reserves.
This was a tiny island nation. Freshwater was more precious than oil, so their water purification equipment was always cutting-edge, and their freshwater reserves a national priority. Now, not only was the equipment gone, but all the stored freshwater had vanished as well.
The nation’s leadership was thrown into turmoil. All armed forces were mobilized to search for the missing assets. No one believed that such vast quantities could simply vanish without a trace. Surely, with enough effort, they’d find a clue—no one could just fly off with so much, or leap into the sea and disappear.
It had to be hidden somewhere. They just needed patience.
And with such large items, searching shouldn’t be too difficult. At first, the police were brimming with confidence as they combed through every corner.
But after sweeping through everything, they found not a single trace.
What drove them to absolute fury was that, on the day of their search, two of the nation’s largest supermarkets and warehouses were also cleaned out. Again, there wasn’t a single clue or warning.
The next day—the fourth day in the Land of Cherry Blossoms—Cao Bin grew even bolder, tossing bombs everywhere right under the noses of the official search teams. After sowing chaos, he snuck back into one of their logistics parks and emptied out the entire warehouse district.
That afternoon, he also cleaned out the nation’s largest grain depot. To his surprise, the country’s grain reserves amounted to several million tons. The sheer volume made Cao Bin ecstatic.
Clearly, a country’s strategic material reserves could far exceed the imagination of ordinary people. For such a small nation to store so much grain—it was certainly not for regular consumption. Most likely, it was meant for future wars.
This revealed that the nation’s leaders had never abandoned their ambitions of invading other countries.
...
By the time a large force arrived, Cao Bin had already changed his clothes, mask, hat, and glasses, and left the scene.
With all the police converging there, Cao Bin naturally kept moving, continuing his work elsewhere. Pilfering had become second nature to him—he was even becoming addicted. If he rested at home, not “borrowing” anything, he would feel as if something was missing.
In just five days, the country was thrown into utter chaos.
Many rumors spread: was it gods, or powerful extraterrestrial forces scouring the nation for resources? Some jokers even organized themselves, setting up signs in the streets, inviting these mysterious powers to reveal themselves and discuss establishing friendly diplomatic relations.
Of course, there are no secrets that can be kept forever. The bigwigs and officials were already drawing their own conclusions. After all, the series of events that had happened in Yan Country had already spread far and wide, and they had their own channels of information.
Word had it that several freshwater lakes in the country had been drained, and vast quantities of grain and supplies had disappeared—enough to terrify anyone. If some powerful alien force was coming to Earth, then their first target would surely be Yan Country.
When Cao Bin heard these rumors, he sneered inwardly. He wondered what they would think if they could imagine the incoming tidal wave that would soon engulf their little island.
On the sixth day, Cao Bin set his sights on all the oil depots in the country. After clearing them out, he suddenly remembered another of the country’s famous industries: the adult film industry.
He found the filming hubs, and took all the company’s collections, including rare editions and originals, all meticulously stored on precious hard drives. Unlike the censored copies in the market, here were the highest quality, uncensored originals.
At the same time, the country’s adult products industry was also extremely advanced. Cao Bin left nothing behind, spending an entire night taking everything. After all, women, for all the positives of companionship, could be a real hassle—especially in the apocalypse, where an irritable woman could mean fatal trouble. In some situations, these realistic substitutes were more reliable than the real thing.
By the seventh day, the nation was in complete turmoil.
Taking advantage of the last available flights, Cao Bin bought a ticket and swiftly left the doomed island.
