Chapter 80: The Alluring Lady
Ouyang Zhuo didn’t wait for Shu Yiming to finish speaking before he followed, moving with extraordinary speed. The car’s engine roared, and the glass windows rattled noisily in the fierce wind.
It had to be said that Ouyang Zhuo’s driving skills were impressive. In no time at all, he had closed the distance and caught up. Only then did the two of them realize that the person kidnapped inside the car was none other than Lin Peishi.
Their opponents were numerous...
But before he could finish his sentence, he noticed a flash before his eyes—her graceful figure had already vanished from in front of him and appeared at the entrance of the stairwell ahead. He couldn’t tell if she had heard what he said.
The pile of raw jade stones with fewer pieces truly lived up to their reputation—they had been meticulously selected by stone-gambling experts, and almost all showed promising external features or a high degree of gamble, with several being old mine materials. Although these stones were undeniably expensive, their price was justified.
Only when the footsteps of the three had faded did Shi Wansui speak: “Most stewards in officials’ households are elderly servants. But you, Master Wang, have gone the opposite way by employing such a beautiful foreign woman as your steward.” As Shi Wansui spoke, he laughed, a hint of disdain in his voice.
Liu Yifei immediately shot Lin Yuquan a glare. She was already nervous about singing in front of everyone, and now Lin Yuquan was teasing her.
Ning Yi pretended not to understand, first downloading an antivirus program and then clumsily removing the trojan.
Wen Wei, for her part, didn’t mind any of this. After all, the company was nominally Ouyang Yue’er’s private enterprise; if Ouyang Yue’er was in the spotlight, so too was the company. So she simply sat to the side, smiling as she watched Ouyang Yue’er grow red-faced and flustered from the pointed questions of certain reporters.
“But why do I still feel like you’re hiding something from me?” She fixed her gaze on Ning Yi, suspicion in her eyes. When Ning Yi didn’t answer, she simply leaned in until her face was inches from his, scrutinizing him intently.
Duan Shanshan blinked as she followed Cai Pingping into the train car, still quietly wondering where Cai Pingping intended to take her.
Unlike last night’s Third Master, who was merely a comrade-in-arms, this person was a companion with whom they shared every day and night.
From the old medicine man’s few words, Zhou Yi could tell his finances were strained. Money, to Zhou Yi at this point, was no longer a pressing concern.
Along the way, it was often thanks to Lu Zhan’s accurate judgments that they were able to escape danger time and again and eventually find the Divine Realm.
Among those present, aside from a few recently appointed ministers and some young sons and daughters of officials, most of the veteran officials recognized Su Changle.
“I’m sorry, I have nothing to say,” Warner replied, turning her head away. She despised traitors—most of all, she hated that she had become one herself.
Huang Yu curled his lip. Draft picks? Did the Lakers have any good draft picks! The first round was still worth a look, since the Lakers’ future performance wasn’t guaranteed, but who knew what might happen now that Paul had been traded for Nash? Would the Lakers still end up as he remembered?
It seemed Zheng Mingfeng had been played for a fool; Yanyan only pretended to care about him, when in truth she was after his meal ticket.
As it turned out, the little pomelo doll had been eyeing the bread in Zhengzheng’s hand all along, but the adults held him back and wouldn’t let him approach. When he saw his gift, which should have belonged to him, being eagerly eaten, he nearly devoured the entire piece of bread himself and burst into loud tears in frustration.
Lu Jiang shook his head. “It’s not just about buying a house; there are other things too. Only now do I realize that in so many ways, her views and mine couldn’t be more different.”
Hearing this, Man Luolan cried even harder, utterly unable to control herself.
Mu Changfeng suddenly recalled the paper doll inside his pillow. The calligraphy on it was so wild and unrestrained that he couldn’t recognize a single character.
