“Shen Moxu, who do you think you are to meddle in my affairs!”
Feng Su’s eyes brimmed with contempt as he looked Shen Moxu up and down from head to toe.
“I am Jiuwei’s uncle by marriage, her elder. I have every right to concern myself with her.” Shen Moxu invoked his status, only to be met with a derisive laugh from Feng Su. “Uncle by marriage? A man who isn’t married, hasn’t even set foot in the family, and yet claims the rights of an elder? That’s some thick skin!”
His laughter was hearty and clear, but each note landed squarely on Shen Moxu’s pride.
Shen Moxu’s expression underwent a series of subtle changes; Li Jiuwei’s lips twitched—honestly, Feng Su was asking for a fight.
She took Feng Su’s hand, her gaze lingering on Shen Moxu.
“Second Master Shen, it is a virtue to know one’s place.”
Shen Moxu’s face set even harder, but before she could say more, Feng Su had already drawn her away, his arm tightening around her.
He held her a little too firmly, making her frown in pain. “What now?”
“I hate seeing you talk to him. Tell me, is there something more between you two?”
Li Jiuwei pinched his arm in return, making the man beside her grimace in feigned agony—he was quite the actor.
“You get so jealous—are you sure there’s nothing between you?”
“If you must know, he is indeed my uncle by marriage, at least in name.”
“That’s it?”
Li Jiuwei raised an eyebrow. “What else would there be?”
Feng Su sneered, glancing back. Shen Moxu still stood there, watching them. Feng Su pulled Li Jiuwei even closer, his voice sharp, “Good.”
He could tell Li Jiuwei truly hadn’t given the matter any thought. He wasn’t sure whether to be relieved or not.
The way Shen Moxu looked at her was far from innocent.
The two of them drove back to the love nest they’d shared for three years. As soon as they got home, Feng Su pounced on Li Jiuwei, pinning her beneath him and kissing her for a long while.
When he tried to take things further, she kicked him in the abdomen.
“Go take a shower first.”
Feng Su stormed off to the bathroom, scowling. Li Jiuwei had always been a stickler for cleanliness.
Her phone vibrated on the bed; it was a message from Jiang Huaiting.
[I’ll be with Xinchun tonight, not coming home.]
[What a coincidence, I’m not coming home tonight either.]
[Where are you?]
[With my little lover.]
[Li Jiuwei, I’m happy you’re jealous, but there’s no need to make up a man just to compete.]
Li Jiuwei tossed her phone onto the bed. She wondered if Jiang Huaiting had lost his mind, suddenly feeling the need to report his whereabouts to her.

She’d long since grown immune to his games of carrot and stick.
The bathroom door opened, and Li Jiuwei glanced over—her eyes widened in shock, and she quickly looked away. “Feng Su, why aren’t you wearing any clothes?”
“I’ll have to take them off sooner or later, so why bother? Unless… Sister, are you shy?”
“I am not!”
Feng Su leapt onto the bed, pressing her beneath him, savoring every detail of her embarrassed and indignant face.
His hand slowly wandered.
“Sister, tonight will be unforgettable for you…”
With that, he silenced Li Jiuwei’s lips with his own, holding her close as they melted into each other.

At the Li residence.
Since Li Xinchun became pregnant, she had become the apple of the family’s eye—everyone was terrified she might come to harm.
Whenever Jiang Huaiting stayed overnight,
Li’s mother always seemed on the verge of saying something, hoping they wouldn’t let things get out of hand again like last time and end up in the hospital.
“They’re young, a little impulsiveness is normal, don’t fuss too much,” someone would say.
“I’m just worried about my daughter.”
But as a mother, she knew when to hold her tongue.
Children grow up; you can’t control them forever.
Li’s father retired to his room to rest while Li’s mother lingered downstairs, her ears attuned to every sound above.
Li Jingshen returned home late from work, draping his coat over the sofa.
“Mom, it’s so late and you’re still up.”
Li’s mother forced a slightly awkward smile. “I’m not tired yet. Jingshen, you’ve worked hard—go freshen up and get some rest.”
Jingshen sensed something was off. “Is Jiang Huaiting here?”
“He is.”
At that, Jingshen’s face darkened visibly—he was clearly displeased.
“Jiang Huaiting is engaged to Jiuwei, yet he got Xinchun pregnant before the wedding. It’s clear he doesn’t respect our family at all.” From the start, he’d had objections to Jiang Huaiting and Li Xinchun’s affair.
There was true affection between them, but it should have waited until the engagement was broken off.
Instead, they had a child.
“You can’t put it all on him. Xinchun and Huaiting could have been together—if not for Li Jiuwei, who schemed her way into his bed, forcing him into the engagement. Otherwise, Xinchun would have been the one he married.”
Jiuwei had only gotten her chance by trickery.
“Mom… Xinchun’s pregnancy will only become more obvious. We have to make plans.”

“Jingshen, what do you mean?”
“Break off Jiang Huaiting and Jiuwei’s engagement.” It was the simplest solution he could think of.
“No. If we do that, the shares and antiques Grandpa gave her won’t stay with our family. If she marries someone else, she’ll take it all with her. Jingshen, don’t forget what a fortune that is—I won’t let some outsider benefit.”
There had to be another way. Li’s mother’s mind raced as she clenched her fists.
“There’s still one solution: push Huaiting and Jiuwei to marry quickly. Once Huaiting has all the shares and property, they can divorce, and then he can marry Xinchun. First marriage, then divorce, then another marriage.”
All the family holdings would end up in Jiang Huaiting’s hands, and once Xinchun married him, the assets would be secure.
The more she thought about it, the more she liked the plan. Her mood lifted.
“Mom… I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“It’s the only way. We can’t let Xinchun or the baby suffer. I know Jiuwei is my daughter too, but she shouldn’t have schemed against Xinchun. If a child won’t behave, they need to be taught a lesson. Maybe after this, Jiuwei will grow up.”
Jingshen fell silent.
After a moment, he nodded. “I’ll discuss it with Huaiting.”
Li’s mother smiled in satisfaction.
Upstairs, Jiang Huaiting tossed and turned, Li Jiuwei’s words echoing in his mind.
Li Xinchun, curled up in his arms, spoke softly, “Huaiting, are you worried about my sister?”
“Silly girl, you’re the only one I care about.”
“Sister must be angry. She’s always bullied me, always wanted to take everything from me. If you’re really worried about her, go to her. Just let me and the baby cry in the dark.”
She turned away, pretending to be upset, and began to sob quietly, tugging at Jiang Huaiting’s heartstrings.
He sighed, hugging her tightly from behind. “Xinchun, you’re the only one I love. I could never care for someone as malicious as her.”
“Hmph, you’re just sweet-talking me.”
“My precious, what will it take for you to trust me?”
“You never touch me anymore…”
Jiang Huaiting’s heart melted. “You’re pregnant. We can’t now. But after the baby is born, I’ll have you for three days and nights.”
Blushing, Li Xinchun nestled back into his arms, whispering, “No take-backs.”
In the darkness, Jiang Huaiting’s true thoughts were hidden.
He convinced himself Li Jiuwei was only trying to make him jealous; he shouldn’t fall for her tricks.
At the break of dawn,
Li Jiuwei lay exhausted at his side.
“Sister, do you want more?” he whispered, his husky voice rippling through the air.
