Chapter 62 This Imperial Throne Is Meant to Be Passed Down to My Son!
Inside the Prince Han's Mansion, as noon approached, Prince Han returned in high spirits as usual, immediately complaining about being hungry the moment he stepped through the gates.
"My dear wife, you have no idea. Today, the three of us brothers all came back starved. That Consort Park sent by the Kingdom of Joseon brought food to the old man—just three steamed buns and a bowl of soup—and the old man wolfed down every single bite by himself!
I say the old man's heart is still quite youthful. The way he looked at that little Consort Park didn't seem quite right. Could he actually father another child? Just how old is he now?
Today, the three of us discussed the military expedition to the grasslands. As for the eldest, that unreliable fellow, his only response was that there was no money. That money is practically fused to the eldest brother's flesh; he wouldn't part with a single penny!
However, judging by the old man's intentions, His Majesty does want to launch a campaign. When the time comes, instead of being dispatched to our fief, I might actually secure military command. It's killing two birds with one stone!
And what's more, the eldest actually pulled out the gold beans he robbed from me right in front of the old man and started showing off! Isn't that a blatant attempt to shaft me?" Prince Han babbled on without pause the moment he entered, talking nonstop to his wife.
"Go tell these things to our son; he loves to listen. I have a few questions for you, and then you can go find our son. He said he has something to discuss with you," Princess Han, née Wei, rolled her eyes at Prince Han, took a sip of tea, and said leisurely, her every word revolving around their son.
"Uh, well, alright then. Ask away, my Princess!" The Princess's expression of utter disdain made the triumphant look on Prince Han's face somewhat awkward as he spoke in a disgruntled tone.
Princess Han gave Xiuli a subtle glance, and Xiuli immediately nodded, walking over to guard the doorway.
"Let me ask you, what on earth is going on with our *Hao*? You've all been speaking in riddles these past few days, and I couldn't make head or tail of it. But I did understand when you said *Hao* has the aura of a true dragon about him!
Why does *Hao* possess the dragon's aura, and why did that aura befuddle his mind? What on earth have you been up to?" Princess Han asked with an eager expression. She desperately wanted to know what was happening to her son, and even more, she worried whether *Hao* would suffer a relapse in the future!
"My Princess, you shouldn't ask about this. All I can tell you is that you have given birth to a fine son. *Hao* is destined by heaven!
Princess, you have given birth to destiny itself! Do you understand?
*Hao* is destiny!
The destiny of our family!
The destiny of the Great Ming Dynasty!"
Prince Han initially had no desire to discuss this with his wife, but somehow, the more he spoke, the more excited he became. Finally, he grabbed Princess Han by the arms with both hands and roared in a low voice right beside her ear.
Immediately afterward, he saw the look of astonishment and sheer terror on his wife's face.
"Princess, nothing will go wrong! This secret is known only to *Hao*, myself, little Xizi, and Ah Zhong. No one else will ever find out.
Remember this: *Hao* is destiny!
Destiny!"
Prince Han hugged Princess Han happily as he shouted, and finally planted a fierce kiss right on her face.
With that, Prince Han strode away, full of high spirits and with his chest puffed out, leaving Princess Han standing frozen in place, utterly dumbfounded and at a loss for a long, long time...
"Son, you called for me? What is it?" Prince Han walked into the martial arts practice room with a happy expression, wearing a wide smile as he looked at his son, who was neatly dressed and sitting upright.
"Father, you're here. Please, take a seat." Zhu Zhanhao stood up, bowed to his old man in greeting, and invited Prince Han to sit down.
Behind him, little Xizi showed great tact by stepping out, closing the heavy doors behind him, and standing guard outside.
"That kid is quite good, worth cultivating," Prince Han remarked, unable to resist a word of praise as he looked at little Xizi's retreating figure.
"He is indeed good. Father, I had you come here today because there is something I wish to discuss," Zhu Zhanhao said with a steady and composed demeanor.
"Speak, go ahead and speak," Prince Han shifted uncomfortably, dodging his son's fixed gaze. He always felt a strange sense of unease when his son looked at him like that, making him sit on pins and needles!
"It's like this, Father. In a little while, the Alligator Dragon King will have fully merged with me and will be able to manifest physically. When that happens, how are we going to accommodate it?
Of course, we could also let it remain as it is inside me, but my appetite has become a major problem!" Zhu Zhanhao looked at his old man, presenting the issue and hoping Prince Han could resolve it.
"The Alligator Dragon is still alive? And it can come out? Will that have any adverse effect on you?" Prince Han was startled by his son's words. Could a true dragon possession actually be detached? What on earth had gone wrong? He urgently wanted to know the reason.
"The Alligator Dragon is indeed still alive. If it keeps staying inside my body, I won't have to do anything else; just eating day and night wouldn't even be enough to sustain a body of that size!" Zhu Zhanhao shot his father an annoyed look as he revealed the real problem.
Ever since he regained consciousness, he had been eating constantly, yet he still felt perpetually hungry. This was likely the lingering effect of the Alligator Dragon.
"Ah, I see," Prince Han laughed somewhat awkwardly as he looked at his son, feeling that his son's concern was quite valid. After all, that Alligator Dragon was well over six zhang in length and still growing. Though his son's build was already quite robust, compared to the Alligator Dragon, he was practically nothing! If the dragon starved and ran away, the loss would be catastrophic!
Although the probability of it starving and running away was slim, it was a gamble he couldn't afford to take!
"No problem, Father will arrange this for you! We'll just find a place for it right here on the estate!" Prince Han patted his chest in reassurance.
"The Alligator Dragon prefers water. I'm afraid the ponds in our estate aren't even big enough for it to turn around," Zhu Zhanhao gently reminded his father.
"Is that so? Well, it's probably too late to start building one now," Prince Han muttered, scratching his head in puzzlement.
"If not, we could temporarily place it in Xuanwu Lake, while I immediately start construction on a large pond right here!" Prince Han was a man of prompt action and made the decision on the spot.
"Father, as long as you have a plan in mind!" Zhu Zhanhao looked at his old man and agreed. After all, having too much money lying around the house always attracted unwanted attention! It was better to spend it!
"Son, let me tell you, your marriage is fully covered by your Father! I'm going to go see your grandfather! Since he wants to pick a bride for the eldest's boy, my son must have one too! And my son's bride must be the very best!" Prince Han was currently in supreme high spirits.
My son has a dragon! Do you hear? My son has a dragon! Of course he must marry the absolute best!
Prince Han felt as though his feet were walking on air, and his legs felt stronger than ever!
"Son, I won't chat any longer, Father has matters to attend to! You rest up first, Father is off." Prince Han wore an ecstatic expression; lately, he had been in a continuous state of high excitement.
Yet, as he said this, a flash of murderous intent filled Prince Han's eyes. No one would stop him from becoming emperor! This imperial throne belonged to his son! His son had a dragon!
With that, without waiting for Zhu Zhanhao to stand up, Prince Han strode out the door. Watching his father leave, Zhu Zhanhao knew his old man was probably off to pull off some major undertaking once again.
Sure enough, the moment he stepped outside, Prince Han assumed the persona of the supreme imperial lord once more, personally boarding his carriage with the firm resolve to deal with the Grand Imperial Grandson who was locked away by his men!
Little did he know, this was yet another elaborate trap designed specifically to ensnare him!
