The book has been out for exactly half a month now, so I’d like to ask all the esteemed readers for their continued support, and take this chance to share a bit about the story.

First, about the continued reading: hehe, getting readers to keep following a new book is incredibly important. I know the word count is still quite low, and many might think, “Oh, it’s just a little so far; I’ll check back later.” But right now, I really need your ongoing reads.

Next, regarding the content of the book: when writing, I often put myself in the characters’ shoes and consider their circumstances. I try to portray what they would realistically do given their identities and environments, making everything as logical as possible.

For example, once Emperor Qin Shi Huang learns that the protagonist comes from the future, he would surely keep a close watch on him and wouldn’t just let him roam freely. Also, since the protagonist knows many things from the future, the emperor would frequently summon him for consultations, and the protagonist wouldn’t refuse.

The protagonist appears directly before Emperor Qin Shi Huang, so his origins are already exposed. This means some things that protagonists in other time-travel historical novels might do won’t necessarily be easy or even possible here.

The changes the protagonist brings to Qin are not immediate; it depends on whether the emperor is willing. Qin’s true leader is Emperor Qin Shi Huang, and for him to agree, the transformation must begin in thought and then move to action.

For instance, to persuade the emperor that Legalism no longer governs Qin effectively and that reforms are needed, the emperor must first understand why things are failing and why change is necessary. Ideological shifts must come before any actions.

In short, for Qin to change, the emperor’s change in mindset is key. So there will be plenty of dialogues and exchanges between the protagonist and the emperor.

This transformation isn’t something the emperor will accept instantly just because the protagonist says so; the emperor makes his own judgments. The protagonist will need to do certain things to earn and deepen the emperor’s trust.

Some readers may not like these parts and might want to see the protagonist boldly defy and outshine others in Qin, but these elements are built into the outline and are an important part of the story.

Additionally, the protagonist won’t do some of the typical things seen in other historical time-travel novels—like leading troops into battle or scheming against court officials. At most, he might introduce some modern military training methods. I’m sorry to disappoint those hoping for those kinds of scenes.

Certain things the protagonist won’t do, and Emperor Qin Shi Huang won’t permit, because I believe that once the emperor recognizes the protagonist’s value, any sensible ruler would not allow him to take dangerous risks, whether self-inflicted or orchestrated by others.

This is also a downside of traveling directly to a sovereign’s presence—unlike other protagonists who keep their origins secret.

The protagonist is set up as someone who values life and fears pain. His main role is to advise the emperor, provide counsel, point out flaws, and assist in designing Qin’s development. The book is titled The Designer of the Qin Empire. The protagonist is essentially the contractor, with Emperor Qin Shi Huang as the client. The protagonist offers designs and suggestions, but whether the emperor adopts them is up to him.

Finally, the author is simply a history enthusiast. The content reflects personal insights and naturally has imperfections and gaps. I welcome readers to point out any issues. Wherever possible, I will strive to improve the work. I only ask for two things: no insults and no misleading other readers.
