Su Yi and Ryoko Hashimoto left the building. He asked Ryoko to lie across his back to facilitate their next move.
"Master Su Yi’s back feels so secure," the girl thought to herself.
With a leap, Su Yi bounded away from the building. Following the route Ryoko provided, he made use of the city’s tall structures, moving with intermittent stops and starts.
“Ah!” Ryoko suddenly cried out from behind.
“What’s wrong?” Su Yi asked.
Ryoko, a little embarrassed, replied, “It’s nothing, Master Su Yi. I just happened to see the place below where I often go shopping for clothes.”
Su Yi’s heart stirred, and he could roughly guess Ryoko’s thoughts.
“Let’s go down and take a look,” he suggested.
“Really? Is that okay?” Ryoko exclaimed in delight.
Su Yi descended rapidly along the curtain wall of the building. As they neared the lower floors, his toes touched lightly, buffering the force of their fall. Throughout, Ryoko clung tightly to him, the thrill of free-falling from the sky making her heart race uncontrollably.
Placing his hand against a pane of glass, Su Yi shattered it silently into powder, stepped through, and entered the interior.
A few zombies immediately looked up at them. Unlike their former sluggishness, they bared their fangs and lunged forward with force.
“Hold tight!” Su Yi called out.
“Hiya!” he shouted, charging ahead as well.
After questioning the three survivors about the past two months, Su Yi knew that zombies could not infect normal humans; when encountering them, one either killed them or was eaten.
He leaped lightly, and in midair tapped the tops of two zombies’ heads with his feet. True energy surged into their bodies, liquefying their brain matter and severing their vital arteries.
Ryoko stared in astonishment as the two zombies collapsed limply, never to rise again.
Su Yi crossed a distance of ten feet in the air, repeating his technique, and efficiently dispatched two more zombies that lagged behind.
Like a whirlwind, he swept across the entire floor, finding no more traces of zombies. Only then did he let Ryoko down.
