Chapter Sixty-Nine: Exchanging for the Bloodline of the Dragon and Elephant

The battle between Lin An and the Vulture Protector raged on. The Vulture Protector possessed the strength of a Dou Sect, yet Lin An wielded two kinds of Heavenly Flames. With the addition of the Yin energy he could command within the Hall of Yama, neither side could gain the upper hand.
“Master’s Yama Descent has a time limit. If this fight drags on, he might end up being the one to lose!” Yao Chen said gravely.
“I believe Master must have some assurance. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have challenged the Vulture Protector with such confidence,” Yun Shan replied.
“At this point, we can only take things step by step. Even if he’s truly outmatched, killing Brother Lin An won’t be an easy task,” Nalan Yanran added, worry etched on her face, though deep down she still believed in Lin An.
The pressure the Vulture Protector exerted on Lin An grew ever greater. If this continued, defeat seemed inevitable. Lin An pondered inwardly, searching for a way to boost his strength enough to defeat the Vulture Protector.
Then it struck him—perhaps, by fusing a powerful bloodline with his own body, he could harness the might of that lineage to strengthen himself. This might give him a chance at victory.
Without hesitation, Lin An’s mind raced through all the powerful bloodlines available within his system. Soon, his attention landed on one in particular—the Dragon Elephant Bloodline.
Legends spoke of the terrifying power of the Dragon Elephant. With a single step, it could shatter the heavens, and its defenses were equally fearsome. Even a monster of the same level would struggle to break through its protection.
With that thought, Lin An made his decision and redeemed the Dragon Elephant Bloodline.
Spending fifty thousand Soul Points made Lin An’s heart ache. With that many points, he could have advanced directly to the Dou Emperor realm.
But Lin An knew that if the Dragon Elephant Bloodline was worth so many Soul Points, it must possess something truly extraordinary.
Bang—
A chain suddenly pierced Lin An’s collarbone, and he let out a muffled grunt.
“To be distracted at a time like this? I must admit, you have guts,” the Vulture Protector taunted, though he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Just now, Lin An had put him under immense pressure; the Heavenly Flames restrained the techniques of the Soul Hall, not to mention Lin An held two of them.

For some reason, Lin An had just now fallen into a daze, only passively defending against his attacks.
For the Vulture Protector, this was a golden opportunity.
He pressed the attack. Though he failed to land a fatal blow, he managed to injure Lin An—a fact that delighted him.
“Not good, something’s happened!” Yao Chen cried out. He and Yun Shan were about to intervene, only to be stopped by Lin An.
“He is my prey. Neither of you interfere!” Lin An’s face twisted into a savage grin, sending a chill through the Vulture Protector, as if he were being watched by some terrifying beast.
Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Lin An gripped the chain impaling him. A three-colored flame surged forth, and in an instant, the chain snapped.
Without so much as a blink, Lin An pulled the chain from his body.
“Dragon Elephant Bloodline, awaken!” Lin An growled.
In that moment, it was as though some ancient, primeval presence had awakened within him. A colossal phantom emerged behind Lin An, and his wounds began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye. Within a single breath, they were completely gone.
Roar—
The Dragon Elephant’s phantom seemed lifelike as it let out a thunderous roar. The terrifying soundwaves pierced through the Cloud Mist Sect’s barrier with ease. Many disciples, clutching their ears in agony, collapsed to the ground in pain. Had Lin An not been quick-witted, many of the younger disciples might have been killed on the spot.
Simultaneously, Lin An’s cultivation soared rapidly, breaking through to the peak of the Grand Dou Fighter realm in the blink of an eye—just a step away from the Dou Spirit realm.
“What kind of technique is this? To unleash such terrifying power in an instant?” Yun Shan murmured in disbelief. Even he felt immense pressure—unimaginable for someone at the peak of the Grand Dou Fighter realm, whose strength now threatened even him.
“No wonder Master was so confident. He still had cards left unplayed. With this power, defeating the Vulture Protector should be no challenge,” Yao Chen said, once more awed by the depths of Lin An’s abilities. Every time he thought he had glimpsed Lin An’s secrets, the young man would reveal a power that left even him shocked.
“Just where did this monster come from? He’s too terrifying!” Even the Vulture Protector began to feel fear.

He had believed Lin An’s earlier state was his peak, never imagining he had such a terrifying trump card in reserve.
He felt the pressure even before the fight resumed.
“Hmph…”
“I refuse to believe a mighty Dou Sect expert like myself could lose to a mere junior!” the Vulture Protector snorted coldly, vowing not to lose heart. If he, a protector of the Soul Hall, was cowed by a junior, he was unworthy of his title.
“Die!”
Three chains gleamed with black light, mysterious runes swirling along their lengths as they spread rapidly through the air. In an instant, the sky seemed filled with chains, which closed in on Lin An from all directions.
Yet Lin An remained unmoving, eyes closed, as if still adjusting to the sudden surge of power.
Seeing Lin An frozen in place, the Vulture Protector’s lips curled into a smile. So what if he had another trump card? Was he not now standing motionless, letting himself be attacked?
Without his Heavenly Flame, the Vulture Protector doubted Lin An could withstand his onslaught.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
But what happened next left the Vulture Protector dumbstruck.
The Dragon Elephant phantom manifested once more, so real it seemed tangible. All his chains struck the phantom, producing a deafening metallic clang.
His chains couldn’t even break through the phantom, let alone harm Lin An within.
At this point, the Vulture Protector’s thoughts turned to retreat.
This Lin An was simply too strange. Even he would struggle to defeat the youth, let alone kill him.
Moreover, Lin An clearly harbored secrets of immense value—secrets that would be irresistible to both the Soul Hall and the Soul Clan. Once he escaped, he would report this to the master of the Soul Hall. Perhaps, with Lin An’s power, the Soul Hall—or even the Soul Clan—could rise to unimaginable heights.
