Chapter Fifty-Eight: Xiao Yan’s Extraordinary Encounter [Third Update]
“Please, young master, don’t listen to their nonsense. I discovered those items myself; they have nothing to do with them at all.”
“If you wish, I’d rather give these things to you than let them fall into the hands of such despicable people.”
Then, Little Medicine Fairy gritted her teeth and spoke words that shocked everyone present. Clearly, none of them expected that she would go so far just to keep the treasure from them.
“Oh? I’m quite curious what it is you obtained that makes them so relentless,” Lin An said, already guessing the identity of the person before him.
He was intrigued as well: if Little Medicine Fairy hadn’t met Xiao Yan, did that mean the fragment of the Purifying Lotus Demon Flame was now in her possession?
Sure enough, Little Medicine Fairy quickly took out a scroll of fragmented map from her bosom—identical in material to the one Lin An had procured from Hai Bodong.
“Very well. As payment for saving you, I’ll take this,” Lin An said, accepting the fragment from Little Medicine Fairy.
The faces of the people from Myriad Medicine Pavilion and Wolfhead Mercenary Corps turned so dark they could almost drip water. Little Medicine Fairy was already a troublesome figure, and her reputation for healing and saving lives made her popular here. Though the two before them were young, the magical beast at Lin An’s side emanated such a dangerous aura that they feared it would be suicidal to make a move.
“If you’re fond of that map fragment, take it, but just leave Little Medicine Fairy behind,” said a member of Myriad Medicine Pavilion, deciding it was wiser to avoid conflict for now. After all, the treasures in her possession weren’t limited to just that fragment—there were other valuables too.
“Since I’ve already taken something from her, it’s only right I see this through. So if you know what’s good for you, leave—otherwise, if I make a move, you may not even have a chance to survive,” Lin An declared.
“Oh? This is still the territory of the Wolfhead Mercenary Corps and Myriad Medicine Pavilion. Do you really think you, an outsider, can bully us?” said a member of Myriad Medicine Pavilion, his tone indifferent.
The onlookers began to gather around, while others retreated, fearful of being caught in the crossfire.
“Is that so?” Lin An replied. “If you’re so eager to die, you have only yourselves to blame.”

Lin An’s voice was cold. “Kill them all. Leave none alive,” he ordered the Violet Gold Winged Lion King.
“Rest assured, master. These pitiful fools aren’t even enough to fill the gap between my teeth,” replied the magical beast, speaking with human words and frightening everyone present.
“Sir, we were in the wrong just now. Please be generous and overlook our offense,” pleaded the members of Myriad Medicine Pavilion, realizing the danger and begging Lin An for mercy.
They had thought it was just an ordinary magical beast, but its strength far exceeded their expectations. With this beast alone, he could annihilate everyone present with ease.
“Too late,” Lin An said.
With that, the Violet Gold Winged Lion King began its assault. Even as people tried to escape in every direction, it slaughtered them all in the shortest time possible.
Not only was Little Medicine Fairy stunned, but even the surrounding crowd was awed by the beast’s overwhelming power.
Yet most were delighted to see the tyrants of Myriad Medicine Pavilion and Wolfhead Mercenary Corps wiped out—many applauded the outcome.
Truthfully, Little Medicine Fairy had been forced into a corner. Seeing Lin An’s formidable magical beast, she hoped to borrow his strength to buy herself some time, but never expected Lin An to be so powerful and ruthless, eradicating their foes in one decisive action.
“Th-thank you for saving me!” Little Medicine Fairy said, still in shock.
“You have paid your price; it is only natural that I help you,” Lin An replied.
Little Medicine Fairy shook her head. Even she could see that the map fragment was hardly useful—so small that, in the vast Dou Qi Continent, gathering the complete map would be little short of a miracle.
“Why are you alone? Where are your companions?” Lin An asked, wanting to know if Little Medicine Fairy knew Xiao Yan.
According to the original plot, this fragment should have been in Xiao Yan’s hands, yet now it was with Little Medicine Fairy. Did that mean she had never met Xiao Yan? If she hadn’t, where would Xiao Yan be training now?
Lin An was deeply puzzled.

Xiao Yan seemed to have vanished from the world; ever since leaving Wutan City, no one had seen him, and some even speculated he might have died.
Only Lin An knew for certain: Xiao Yan would not die.
The battle at Cloud Mist Sect was a pivotal moment for Xiao Yan. Now, with events altered, the chosen one’s path would surely diverge from Lin An’s memories of his ascent.
But that did not mean Xiao Yan would be weaker than before.
Lin An even suspected that when Xiao Yan finally appeared at Cloud Mist Sect, he would be stronger than anyone imagined—even stronger than Lin An himself.
…
Ever since Nalan Yanran came to Wutan City to break off the engagement, and after being humiliated by Lin An, Xiao Yan had felt as if his fate had been changed by a mysterious force.
This feeling was elusive yet undeniably real.
What Xiao Yan hadn’t expected was that, after Lin An returned his storage ring, everything began to change.
He obtained the help of a mysterious power—so long as he completed certain tasks, he would be rewarded.
It was as if the heavens had mapped out his upgrade path, and every time he finished a mission, he received rewards unimaginable to ordinary people.
For example, he was now a third-tier alchemist; when he completed tasks, he received legendary, mysterious, and powerful heavenly flames without even needing to seek them out—they were granted upon completion.
The feeling was strange and miraculous.
Perhaps, Xiao Yan thought, he ought to thank Nalan Yanran and Lin An. If not for them, how could he have obtained such a heaven-defying golden finger?
There was still nearly a day before the three-year agreement, and now he was already at the five-star Grand Fighter level. If word of his cultivation speed got out, it would astonish many.
Yet he kept his strength hidden.
He planned to make a stunning entrance, letting everyone know that genius Xiao Yan had returned—stronger and more extraordinary than ever.
That slap, he would deliver before the entire Jia Ma Empire, right across Lin An’s face.
And then tell the world: it was Nalan Yanran who was unworthy of him, Xiao Yan.
