Chapter 130: Their Respective Battlefields
The Void Warrior, also known as the God-Slaying Warrior, is clad in white armor engraved with mystical blue patterns. Blessed by the Reaper Karl, it possesses a pair of white steel wings. Its flight speed breaks the sound barrier, creating sonic booms and powerful, storm-like air currents. These steel wings are razor-sharp, capable of cutting through the void, and possess immense strength, fully comparable to—or even surpassing—a standard third-generation Super Soldier of the Shenhe civilization.
Flashed out from the main Taotie flagship like a silver meteor, the God-Slaying Warrior reached Qi Lin’s hiding spot in two or three breaths, raising its "God-Slaying Blade" to strike downward without a moment's hesitation. Like the Flame Blade and the Lightning Halberd, the God-Slaying Blade belongs to the top-tier weaponry of the known universe's civilizations. While it cannot literally slay a god as its name implies, it possesses the power to inflict a certain degree of damage upon a divine body. Even for a divine body, an invincible frame, or a body of diamond-like indestructibility, being struck or even grazed by this blade causes agonizing pain that pierces the soul, requiring significant effort or a long duration to recover from.
Though the identity or ranking of this sudden God-Slaying Warrior was unknown, Qi Lin showed not a hint of panic when she saw him. A long sword rapidly expanded before her, transforming in an instant into a massive energy blade that shot toward the warrior like a streak of light. The God-Slaying Warrior clearly had not expected Qi Lin to be able to unleash such powerful and terrifying force without relying on her sniper rifle. Despite being caught off guard, he relied on his formidable combat experience to narrowly evade the attack.
Similar events were unfolding elsewhere. With the exception of the Power of the Galaxy, Ge Xiaolun, everyone else faced varying degrees of assault, yet all managed to evade them. Some God-Slaying Warriors were even caught off guard by sword energy and cleaved in two, exploding in mid-air like fireworks.
As the captain of the Xiongbing Company and a main combat force, Leona, the Light of the Sun, was naturally the first to receive "friendly" attention from the Taotie. More than one God-Slaying Warrior appeared to surround her; clearly, the Taotie Legion had regarded Leona as the greatest threat from the very beginning, far beyond what the new recruits of the Xiongbing Company could compare to.
On a street clogged with motor vehicles, the scene was chaotic. A figure suddenly plummeted from the sky, shattering the reinforced concrete pavement with a deafening roar and kicking up a massive cloud of dust. Leona, disdaining to learn Lin An’s sword-control techniques, had instead mastered an ability similar to controlling exotic fire, allowing her to condense terrifying solar flames in her palms without needing to trigger small-scale solar flares. It was precisely because of this that she had been caught off guard and unable to launch an immediate counterattack.
Emerging from the dust, she spat out the gray, murky air from her lungs, pulled a God-Slaying Blade from her abdomen, and tossed it aside. She straightened her posture and began absorbing solar energy to mend her wounds. "The restorative powers of the Light of the Sun are truly extraordinary. I wonder, though, if you can still recover once your head is severed from your neck."
Three God-Slaying Warriors appeared around Leona, their blades swinging in unison toward her head. "Do you really think this Goddess is so easily bullied?" As their captain, being forced to the ground in such a wretched state felt like a blow to her pride, fueling the fire of her rage.
*Hum, hum, hum.* Wisps of flame erupted from Leona’s body; her mastery over fire was even more proficient than Lin An's. With her as the center, a terrifying solar fire swept outward. The God-Slaying Warriors, caught off guard by this unexpected attack, were instantly engulfed and incinerated into dust, vanishing completely.
Sun Wukong, the Guardian of China, gazed at the swarming Taotie and finally unleashed the peerless abilities of the Great Sage Equaling Heaven. With his capacity for myriad transformations, hundreds of thousands of clones surged forth like a tide! "Halt!" With a cry that embodied his invincible belief in subduing demons and the heroic spirit of the Victorious Fighting Buddha, he blotted out the sky with his clones, wielding his Ruyi Staff to strike down at the Taotie. Brother Monkey was perhaps the only warrior in the Xiongbing Company who had not accepted gifts from Lin An. He possessed his own convictions, and with his own innate mastery, he had no need for sword-control techniques; he wielded invincible power in his own right.
Leona moved rapidly, arriving atop a skyscraper to engage the countless flying Taotie soldiers. A Taotie auxiliary ship emerged from the main cross-shaped flagship, its surface plated with hexagonal defensive shields that repelled tank fire from the ground as well as Leona’s scorching fireballs.
"Target: Light of the Sun, locked. Deploying destruction ray." A mechanical command echoed from within the auxiliary ship as a five-meter-long, circular black cannon barrel protruded from the hull. The barrel, wide as a basketball and deep as an abyss, began to gather scorching golden flames at its muzzle. Blue electrical sparks flickered, spraying embers before a thick beam of fire erupted toward Leona.
In an instant, Leona raised her sacred shield, which doubled in size, fully absorbing the destruction ray. The force of the blast was immense; while it failed to shatter her shield, the collision pushed her backward, leaving scorched black tracks on the ground. Yet, she did not buckle, standing tall like a pillar supporting the heavens.
"This is called military might!" Golden solar light flickered across her armor, making her appear like a deity. With a surge of divine power, she swung her shield, shattering the destruction ray.
"...I quite like a Chinese saying: 'Courtesy demands reciprocity.' This is the perfect chance to test the power of the new technique Lin An taught me!" Leona remarked with interest, looking toward the warship.
*Hum.* A sun rose slowly behind her. People who had been shrouded in darkness felt as if they were seeing the sun rise, as if witnessing the light of hope. "Lin An calls this the Solar Divine Body. It harnesses the power of the sun—power derived from within myself, rather than borrowing from a star. Let’s see if its power is diminished compared to a small-scale solar flare!"
As she finished speaking, under her control, the rising sun flew straight toward the warship.
