Chapter 110: Return to the Battle Through the Heavens
Lin An decided the time was ripe, so he activated the Yama Hall and dragged Qian Xunji inside.
Upon entering the Yama Hall, Qian Xunji gazed around in shock. He had not expected to be transported to such an unfamiliar place in the blink of an eye; even he had never heard of such a technique.
"Who exactly are you? What is your purpose in approaching Qian Renxue?"
If someone were to claim Lin An was just an ordinary person, Qian Xunji certainly would not believe it. Yet, when he searched his memory of the entire Douluo Continent, he had never heard of anyone named Lin An, nor anyone connected to such a person. At the same time, Qian Xunji felt that Lin An’s proximity to Qian Renxue must be driven by some hidden agenda. Possessing such methods and power, Qian Xunji suspected that Lin An’s ambitions were vast.
"The place you are currently in is called the Yama Hall. As for who I am, as you can see, I am just an ordinary person. As for approaching Qian Renxue, to be honest, it was all just a coincidence," Lin An answered truthfully.
Qian Xunji naturally could not believe everything Lin An said. He had never even heard of the Yama Hall.
"What do you want?" Qian Xunji braced himself for a price to be paid, knowing that the man before him was certainly not soft-hearted. As for expecting mercy for the sake of Qian Renxue, Qian Xunji did not even consider it. After being slapped in public, if Lin An had intended to show consideration for Qian Renxue, he would not have acted so ruthlessly.
"It is not a question of what I want, but rather that you no longer have a choice."
"What do you mean?" For a moment, Qian Xunji failed to grasp the implication.
"The meaning is quite clear. Within this Yama Hall, even if a god were to come, they would have to submit to me. And you are, after all, merely a Titled Douluo!"
As he spoke, Qian Xunji was horrified to discover an inexplicable force surrounding him, rendering his body completely unable to move.
"How did you do this? Even against a ninety-nine-level Limit Douluo, I could hold my own for a while without being defeated. Unless it is a legendary true god, but..." Qian Xunji trailed off, realizing his own argument was riddled with holes. Yet, the abilities Lin An displayed were impossible to explain. Even with his extensive knowledge and awareness of secrets unknown to most soul masters, he could not fathom what he was witnessing.
Lin An shook his head, knowing there was no point in continuing to explain to Qian Xunji. Once he killed him and turned him into a servant of the Yama Hall, there would be no need for words; the miraculous power of the Hall would be self-evident.
Soon, before Qian Xunji’s disbelieving eyes, a pitch-black sword pierced directly through his heart. Not long after, Lin An left the Yama Hall and appeared before Qian Renxue.
"How did it go? Are you alright?" asked Xue Qinghe.
The battle between the two had vanished as suddenly as it began, and Xue Qinghe had been worried throughout. She did not want to see either of them come to harm.
"Rest assured, how could anything happen to me?" Lin An replied. "As for Qian Xunji, he is a Titled Douluo; it is no simple task for someone of my strength to kill him." Lin An knew that it was not yet time for Qian Renxue to face Qian Xunji, so he had no intention of letting them meet. It would be better to arrange a meeting after the storm had passed.
"I am relieved that you are safe," Qian Renxue nodded.
"The construction of the City God Temple has already begun. I believe it will be operational before long."
"Mm..." Lin An nodded. The reason he had come to Heaven Dou City without hesitation was precisely for the sake of the City God Temple. If any difficulties arose during construction, he would be able to step in and resolve them. It seemed, however, that he had been overthinking.
For the following period, Lin An rested and recuperated on the Douluo Continent. The City God Temple was established as planned, and the daily increase in Soul Points left Lin An very satisfied. Combining the souls from two planes, he was gathering at least tens of thousands of Soul Points a day. After half a year, he was very pleased with the progress.
Finally, the time came for him to leave the Douluo plane. By then, five City God Temples had been built, and thanks to the promotion by Qian Renxue, Qian Xunji, and Xiao Wu, they were rapidly spreading across the continent. Before departing, Lin An went to bid farewell to Qian Renxue.
"When will you return?" Qian Renxue asked.
"Short term, perhaps a few months. Long term, even I cannot guarantee," Lin An replied.
Qian Renxue did not ask why he was leaving. In her view, no matter how far Lin An traveled, he would surely remain within the Douluo Continent; if fate willed it, they might meet again soon.
"If you ever encounter danger in the future, enter the space of the City God Temple to hide. Barring any accidents, even a ninety-nine-level Limit Douluo will find it impossible to track you down," Lin An advised.
Qian Renxue nodded, and a moment of awkward silence fell between them.
"When you return next time, I will surely appear before you with my true face and my true identity," Qian Renxue suddenly declared.
"Very well, take care of yourself!"
Lin An nodded and departed. Qian Renxue watched him disappear into the night. It was a long time before she turned away, the gentleness in her eyes vanishing in an instant, replaced by ruthlessness and resolve.
"Perhaps the plan should be moved up," she murmured.
Having left Qian Renxue, Lin An went to a pre-arranged room. Watching the countdown on the Yama System, he saw that only a few minutes remained. He waited quietly for the final moment to arrive. Soon, Lin An vanished from the spot.
After a brief, dizzying sensation, he reappeared in an unfamiliar place.
"Huh..."
"It seems I do not return to the exact place from which I left." Lin An had already anticipated this.
Just then, he felt an astonishing surge of energy flowing through his body.
"This is... the precursor to a breakthrough!" Lin An whispered in surprise. It made sense; during his time in Douluo, while he hadn't focused on cultivation, the process of hunting soul beasts had provided him with significant energy. Combined with the circulation of his own divine arts, he had accumulated a great deal of power without even trying.
He immediately began to circulate the Six Paths Reincarnation Art to initiate his breakthrough.
